OT - Tressel gets a new job
As a gameday consultant for the Colts. whatever that means.
[edit] - now with link: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/6922766/indianapolis-colts-hire-jim-t…
he's going to be looking at instant replay. honestly, that's a shitty job. i hope he hates it and gets every replay wrong.
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:38 PM ^
Also, did he have his job interview when he was in Indy for the NCAA infraction meeting? That seems a little ironic.
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:32 PM ^
fuck im a colts fan, i hate tressel, but if he cures peytons neck injury over the next 2 weeks im fine i guess
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:53 PM ^
go. And now they have Tressel. Therefore, I hate the Colts.
September 2nd, 2011 at 5:32 PM ^
This might not be "logic," but it makes perfect sense to me. At least we can be happy that Charles Woodson still has "Peyton Manning's Heisman."
September 2nd, 2011 at 4:03 PM ^
Is he trying to ruin all football for me?
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:32 PM ^
Link with a credible source or it didn't happen.
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:40 PM ^
don't have one yet. will updated when i find one.
September 2nd, 2011 at 6:20 PM ^
Really? I suppose if I post tressel poops, and has swamp ass I'll need a link with a credible source, or that didn't happen either. Some of you guys go over the top on some of this crap.
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:33 PM ^
It's a good thing Hart has moved on from the Colts.
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:35 PM ^
... is a gameday consultant?
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:40 PM ^
It's someone who sits up in the replay booth and watches every play. His job is to alert the Head coach or one of the cordinators about a play that they should challenge or ask the official to review.
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:55 PM ^
Sounds like a great job for a really, really drunk fan.
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:57 PM ^
Perhaps they'll let Tressel get boozed up before he goes to the booth. That could be at least amusing.
September 2nd, 2011 at 4:17 PM ^
I think you're confusing him with Gary Moeller.

Damn, UM has produced some excellent drunks.
September 2nd, 2011 at 5:01 PM ^
Something about him tells me that if you were to give him 1/2 of a smirnoff ice, he'd be wearing the lampshade.
September 2nd, 2011 at 6:09 PM ^
How many tattoos a year does it pay?
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:38 PM ^
Well this should take care of that pesky little "can't work in the NCAA for the next five years" problem he's about to have.
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:38 PM ^
Isn't that the person who scans your ticket as you enter the stadium?
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:40 PM ^
The Game Day Consultant hooks up memorabilia dealers with players after game day.
September 2nd, 2011 at 4:48 PM ^
about where the players are getting all of their really nice rides, but he makes sure they all park in their designated spaces.
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:39 PM ^
Soooo I should hate the Colts? Got it.
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:39 PM ^
He knows how to keep his players happy
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:40 PM ^
Just announced on 97.1 The Fan. Tressel will review replays in the booth for the Colts. He's getting paid to watch the game. Sign me up.
Edit: In CBus, not Detroit.
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:42 PM ^
Link? Link.

Caldwell says Tressel will serve primarily as a consultant on replays, which will allow the other coaches to focus on their individual jobs without having to worry about making decisions on replay reviews.
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:42 PM ^
for the B1G Championship game then yes? I'm wondering if working for the franchise means he's a stadium employee too.
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:43 PM ^
Was typing as the edits of his job description came in...
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:43 PM ^
Since they are the Patriot's nemesis AND because their QB is Peyton Manning. Now I have a thrid reason!
GO BLUE!
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:47 PM ^
Peyton Manning and his forehead count as two reasons. Now you have four.
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:44 PM ^
If he sees a bad call on a third down play that would give the Colts a first down will he still want them to challenge it? After all, his favorite play is the punt.
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:48 PM ^
Hurry! Someone in Indiana go buy up all the blue vests at the Indianapolis WalMart and Kohl's.
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:55 PM ^
Does he have to serve a 5 game suspension for "making decisions that undermined the integrity of coaching"? Maybe TP will still appeal his NFL suspension after all.
September 2nd, 2011 at 3:51 PM ^
After the Colts/Bengals game I was waiting by the Colts buses to say hello to my friend who is on the Colts. Before any Colts came out, I noticed a red Mustang leaving under police escort. Who was driving the Mustang? None other than Jim Tressel. If it makes everyone feel better, a couple people heckled him as he drove off (his windows were open).
September 2nd, 2011 at 4:49 PM ^
I can only assume that the car had dealer plates on it.
September 2nd, 2011 at 4:02 PM ^
I'm a huge Colts fan! This absolutely sucks. I feel like I was just punched in the uterus.
September 2nd, 2011 at 4:09 PM ^
This is the universe telling you that you shouldn't be a Colts fan.
September 2nd, 2011 at 5:38 PM ^
Who gives a shit? It's an almost ceremonial title given to a guy you might not even see in Colts' gear and will surely have no noticeable effect on the Colts' season.
September 2nd, 2011 at 4:02 PM ^
I don't understand why Tressel would take this job. With his knowledge of X's and O's, I can't imagine he couldn't get a better job in the NFL than that! And if not this year, he's got enough money to take at least one year off (I assume). Its embarrassing!
September 2nd, 2011 at 4:09 PM ^
Totally agree. This sounds like a job for a 22-year old who's putting in his work to start a coaching career.
On the bright side, the NCAA might actually have a "look what can happen to you if you cheat" poster child for coaches.
September 2nd, 2011 at 5:41 PM ^
Teams already had their coaching staffs hired by the time Tressel was fired. There are only small jobs like this available. If he wants to work this year, it has to be something like this.
And Tressel's X's and O's knowledge is not exactly superb. I don't think anyone would view his an a viable candidate for an NFL offensive coordinator position. Quarterbacks coach is probably his apex at the pro level.
September 2nd, 2011 at 4:23 PM ^
i like the colts enough to dislike the patriots (and tom brady) despite tom brady, but this is one bridge too far...
September 2nd, 2011 at 4:25 PM ^
Maybe he was hired to work around the salary cap. Seems like he had a good deal of experience while at OSU.
September 2nd, 2011 at 4:27 PM ^
prob gonna be too busy checkin out the tats rather than the play
September 2nd, 2011 at 4:39 PM ^
that NCAA interview. UHHHHHH I think UHHHH you know UHHHHH you should UHHHHH challenge that uhhhhh last play UHHHHHH you know.
September 2nd, 2011 at 4:42 PM ^
If he misses a key replay, is that a failure to report or a failure to monitor?
Seems like he possesses both of these skills.
September 2nd, 2011 at 4:48 PM ^
Does this make sense to anyone? Why would Tressel take this job? Does it count as being on an NFL coahing staff? Unless, it pays really well in which case I will have another reason to question my job choice.
September 2nd, 2011 at 4:51 PM ^
Blue and White Vest? What a tool.
September 2nd, 2011 at 4:52 PM ^
September 2nd, 2011 at 5:00 PM ^
. . . for the B1G Ten Championship Game.
