Sheldon Day to ND
We know what their track record is with strong recruiting classes
You know UM's average is higher than ND's over the past 8 years or so right?
Congrats on getting him I was waiting for your take on the Floyd situation
It was looking really good at the opening, like others said below, but then afterwards his coach made it very clear he "wasn't committing anytime soon" and then he took a visit or two to the south and there hadn't been a word out of him till now. I will certainly take it, its great being able to keep a kid in state like this.
What's your point?
We've also been better than you over the past 8 years or so.
at Michigan all the while pretending to be kidding. He's like the person that constantly says "no offense, but" and then goes on to completely slam the person as if the "no offense" absolves anything that comes after.

if the 'slam' is "your recruiting is better than ours", I'll take it

Since you know that UM's average amount of wins is higher than ND's over the past eight years, right?
EDIT: Not sure why it didn't go under Irish's post, but that's directed to his first reply in this thread.
It doesn't appear so because other people replied to that post before you, and other people replied to their replies. Line up the left side of the box and you'll see you responded to Irish's first post.
But our retention rate is lower. RE: Demar Dorsey, Kinard, Conway, Jones, blahblahblah...
They also no longer have Weis but a competent coach in Kelly.

Competent--absolutely. Ethically challenged--sure lookin' that way, too (not just Floyd, but several things).
August 3rd, 2011 at 10:43 PM ^
What other things?
August 3rd, 2011 at 11:19 PM ^
Playing an obviously concussed QB, running a practice in a gale with a kid on a scissors lift, the whole Lizzy Seeburg thing. References:
By the way, my ND fan friends have been troubled by these things and not doing an OSU "there's nothing to see here", much to their credit. Legitimate questions that the Irish fanbase takes seriously.
My friends girlfriend grew up in South Bend and is a huge ND fan everything. We were talking college football Saturday and she mentioned a few stories against ND that I hadnt heard of. Obviously we all know the Floyd and scissor lift stories but she mentioned more than a few sexual assault claims and other unethical charges against Kelly. But like how Michigan had some Rodriguez haters, ND has some Kelly haters. In the end no one will care if you bring the W's.
But heres to another Michigan win vs ND this fall.
Damn, that's too bad. I was hoping if we didn't get him, he'd go south. It's still been down to O'Brien and Pipkins for us for a while, so hopefully one of them (or both) go blue.
Was ND in on either of the two you mentioned?
Neither has ND in their lists.
Pipkins top 4-UM, Mizzou, Bama, Tenn
O'Brien top 6-UM, MSU, Iowa, Bama, UF, Tenn
Was hoping maybe that would help force their hands.
Oh no, Jarron Jones and Tommy Schutt are probably the only other Dlineman on ND's board right now
ND hasn't offered either and isn't likely to or anything either
But as long as we get obrien and pipkens I'll be happy
one of the issues with Day was his timeline as he wanted to wait to announce.
He had said that but there were also some rumours flying around at the Opening that he had nearly committed to ND. Guess they were closer to the truth.
There might be some pressure to commit, not supposed to be looking for more than 1 DE in this class. A DT and the dline recruiting is probably done

I'm really suprised they (notre Dame) offered any D line this class after taking so many last year. Well that and the fact all you hear is glowing reports about their freshman. I up voted some of your previous posts since it looked like someone down voted you for no reason.
Damn
At one time I had hoped that Day could make up for our 2012 class' distinct lack of dreads, but it was not to be.(I'm still holding out hope that diamond can fix this, though)
Heck of a pick up for ND. Day is a beast.
quite happy he decided, wasn't really expecting it tonight or anything though
Is his coach an osu fan. Tough loss
Was he considering OSU?
I maybe a little older so forgive me if I have it wrong. Wasn't his coach trying to dissuade him from coming for a visit. And I don't think osu offered.
Eh...I haven't been expecting him to come to us for a long time. Good pick up for ND. Perfect NT for a 3-4.
He is a DE for ND
Damn big DE, isn't he like 280 already?
Yeah, I am sure not all 0f that 280 is good weight. They got some pretty good rush ends last year and needed some run stoppers this time around.

Seriously? I thought he was NT all the way.
Yep, I was surprised when I found out the first time too. Jarron Jones would a DE for ND as well, he is 290.
Not that he isn't a good, no GREAT get.
Just I don't think anyone REALLY thought we had a shot. IMO, people are looking at Pipkins and O'Brien as our best shots. Shittu #3 and Day was #4.
Once again, not saying Day wasn't the best of that group, I wouldn't be qualified to make that call...I'm just saying that we all knew he wasn't coming to Michigan. Shittu is a long shot too. We REALLY have it narrowed down to two guys...Pipkins and O'Brien.
Day didn't look at us for a while.
Next.
I knew there had to be a reason he picked up that 5th star on scout. Seriously the kid looks like a heluva player and is a very good pickup for them. Hopefully Pipkins pulls the trigger soon.
call me crazy, but with our Oline recruiting haul, im not all that worried
I'm not worried, but I'm not sure Braden or Kalis are going to play DT.

You might want to check out ND's incoming freshman DLine.
Day is a superfreak but I'll go home more than happy if we can pull Pipkins and O'Brien. Great pickup by ND, though.
August 3rd, 2011 at 10:39 PM ^
That is good but unfortunate pickup for ND. Since the start of his recruiting I wanted him here at Michigan. More so than others actually. He is a hell of a player. Best of luck to him in the future
August 4th, 2011 at 12:23 AM ^
If O'Brien picks his previous favorite (Tenn) and Pipkins gets wowed on a visit to, say, Missouri what does that leave us with? I think Shittu is an extreme long-shot. I wonder what other DTs they've been in contact with.
