A modest proposal
Can we please stop using time and energy defending/attacking Rich Rod?
He is no longer part of our football program. We should adopt one of RichRod's classic motifs and only talk about the people relevant to our football program. Quite frankly, it doesn't matter anymore, and I think I speak for a lot of people when I say I don't give two shits about what you have to say about him. (This also means you, Brian)
Instead, let's focus on our current coaches, our current players, and go out there and support our football team. Otherwise, we will have the same rift in our fanbase as we had during the RichRod era. I don't know if any of you have realized, but it has not gotten better, at least not on mgoblog, and a lot of this is because of the subject matter coming from the top.
I know that this isn't exactly a novel post and it doesn't have any new information, but this place has been in shambles lately and I can't click on an MGoBoard topic without being assaulted by RR debate.
I certainly don't think I have the right to tell anyone what to do, but PLEASE consider this next time you find some quote you don't like or some article vaguely referring to RR: it is most likely an extension of the same drivel we've all been talking about for months now.
Now let's gather up the pieces of our football program and do something constructive with it.
Also, neg away if you must. Luckily I have discovered neg invulnerability
EDIT: I apologize if I came off strong but I was just rather annoyed when I wrote this. By no means do I have the right to tell you or Brian what to do. I feel that bye-gones should be bye-gones. The RR era was painful for many and there is no need to re open the wound every time an alumnus says something about it.
I also reserve my right to criticize any media writer, and I'm sure Brian would agree that it is ok to do so.
For all of us, sure, fine, whatevs.
But if you don't care what Brian thinks... what are you doing on his site? What on earth makes you think you have the right to tell him what he can and cannot say HERE?
Just something for him to consider. Like I said, I don't have the right to tell him what to do. But for the love of God I don't want to read another post about how someone said something mean about RR somewhere in the world. It just does not matter.
No referencing the past? No RR? That also means no Bo, Carr, Yost, ect. Right? As far as i'm concerned, this is a place to talk Michigan football. Present and past. It's also a site that allows debate and great conversation. Just don't read posts about RR if you don't like it.
Indeed. I sort of built a reputation on referencing the past. The good kind, at least.
The last 3 years and both sides of the RR argument are really starting to do a number on my psyche. The problem is so easily solved by avoiding the threads you don't want to read about.
I personally would like to go back to eating popcorn over the Tressel threads.
And you do a pretty good job of it too.
The OP is ignoring tradition! Wait until the player alums find out.
1) stay off MGoBlog

or

2) don't read the posts that have anything to do with RR if you do accidentally (oops!) find yourself on MGoBlog

it's Brian's site, and he shall decide what he does and does not want to write about... doubtful your whining will matter one iota to him

kthnxbye
Have you tried reading any Christian blogs since you love God so much? Probably less Rich Rod he said she said there.
I suspect that Brian is just fine with disagreement as long as the response is logical. I don't always agree with everything Brian writes, but so what? This is Michigan...we discuss and debate things in painful detail and sometimes almost forever.
So stop talking about it already!!!
NO. I think we need moar reflection on RR and the lack of support from former players dammit.
Or we could start passing recipes. One of the other.
Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 2 sticks butter, softened
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 10 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 package Oreo cookies – I used Double Stuf
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In the bowl of a stand mixer, cream together the butter and sugars. Add in the eggs and vanilla and mix until well combined.
In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add to the wet mixture and combine thoroughly. Stir in the chocolate chips.
Chill the dough for 15 minutes to make it easier to work with and to keep the dough from spreading when baking.
Using a cookie scoop place one scoop of dough on top of an Oreo cookie. Place another single scoop on the bottom of the Oreo to create a cookie sandwich. Seal the edges together to completely close in the Oreo.
Place the balls of cookie dough on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 9-13 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack.
SIMPLE FLOURLESS CHOCOLATE CAKE
4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate or chips
1 stick margarine
¾ cup sugar
3 large eggs
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 TB Cointreau or Kahlua, if desired
Preheat overn to 375 degrees. Grease 8 inch round spring-form baking pan. Cut wax paper to fit into pan and grease. Melt chocolate and margarine together in microwave at 80% power for 2 minutes. Remove and whisk until blended and shiny. Whisk sugar into chocolate mixture. Add eggs and whisk well. Then sift cocoa into chocolate mixture and blend until just combined. Place in pan and bake in middle of oven for 25 minutes or until done (when thin film forms on top). Cool on rack for 5 minutes. Invert onto plate and peel off wax paper. Dust with cocoa power, powdered sugar or decorate with fruit.

Those sound incredible.
Recipe passing = my new favorite mgoactivity.
you are on an internet site devoted to a single university's sports teams
lets leave constructive out of this
Productivity sort of goes against the point of me being here.
For some of the people on here it's like a breakup they can't get over even though they know the relationship sucked.
rr is old news and is long gone. Wanna know who is here?...
Honestly, did you all really think that RR was not going to ever be brought up again? No games have been played yet under the new staff, we are still in a transition period from the old to the new. While in that transition stage both coaching staffs are going to be discussed. Like it or not, it is going to happen and it is a valid topic until the transition period is over and we are into actual football games.
"Productive" during the off-season? Good luck.
First off, I'm as annoyed with this constant RR vs. Hoke debate as most people are, but you should be addressing this to Braylon Edwards, not Brian or anyone else on the board. You really expect MGoBoard (which discusses anything of the remotest relation to Michigan athletics) to ignore Braylon's comments?
I agree, I'm an angry gorilla and that makes me angry!!!
I myself am not without fault in this, but I agree whole-heartedly. It is well past time to be done with this.
Can we talk about how much better Nike was?
/s
i hope we switch to KSwiss next time.
British Knights would also be a great choice.
should we perhaps consider PF Flyers?
You think your elite combat uniforms with the kung-fu grips are cool? Yeah, well we've got pockets. Lots of em. What you think about THAT?

I want Skechers. Nothing is more awesome than watching Denard run, other than watching Denard run in light-up cleats.
But Nike was never THIS cheap at Dunhams...
Like to see a first-class Mexican restaurant make its way to Main Street, in Ann Arbor.
...you'll just end up at panchero's anyway.
I may be alone in this, but I really like El Camino Real next to the mall. I am not an expert, and the atmosphere is not "Main Street Venture"-esque, but I think the food is quite good, economical, and the portions are huge. Plus it is rumored to be a gang front. How can you go wrong?
always have - great wet burrito
I basically agree.
However, I do feel that RR remains a part of the Michigan program and will forever.
It is painfully obvious that some will continue to wistfully dwell on the promise they saw during the RR era and truth be know, that's okay.
The focus does need to shift to the current coaching staff and the future of the program. That transition has begun, but there isn't an on / off switch that can flipped. Grieiving is a process that must be allowed to run its course.
A good season this fall would help. A great season would be even more helpful in helping people move on. But RR should not be forgotten, imo.
How about no more posts talking about how people should stop talking about RR? What do you think about that?
Honestly, I see policing negative comments towards RR as a mechanism for closure and healing. Seriously, you have a group of people here that were passionate, informed and united in their defense of RR as the head coach. These are people with intelligence and confidence. Their enemy in this whole thing is fans, media and alumni that "didn't give RR a chance". In other words, people that weren't as informed as them but were bringing down their cause and didn't think RR would succeed from day one. In the end, it just so happened that in the face of the knowledge and facts at their disposal, they ended up being wrong. RR was ultimately not successful. He ultimately didn't win enough games to keep his job. I don't think there is anything wrong with them continuing to hold onto something of their cause if it makes them feel a little better about how things went down, and if it is policing people taking shots at RR post-firing so be it. As time goes on, especially into next season there will be less and less of these types of posts.
The title of this thread should have been "A Modest Proposal."
I like it. Updated

I just stumbled over from the 4/20 thread, and I can not stop laughing at this.
The story itself is so serious too. I was almost convinced, but maybe it's because I hate the Irirsh:
RR got fired?! All this time I thought he just put on some winter weight and his hair plugs finally took off. My mind is officially blown.
FU and the horse you rode in on... Next thing you will be telling me how I should feel about God
All I know is that if Unitarian is the one true faith I'll eat my hat.
I don't know anyone by that name with the Michigan Football Program. Was he or she BB (before Bo) or AB (after Bo)?
Really? I can't focus on Mike Hart, Tim Biakabatuka, Desmond Howard, and Tom Brady? Let's be honest here... how does one NOT focus on Tom Brady?
By focusing on Michigan legend Scott Dreisbach.
I'm adding you to my list of people to neg the shit out of if/when negging returns.
