Welcome to Michigan fandom, where 11-0 = 7-4 & begging for a coaching search

Isn't anyone on this forum old enough to remember the 1997 game against Iowa?  An awful lot like this this.  Just kept making terrible mistakes (in that game mostly on ST and Defense) against a grossly inferior team.  Turned into a dreadful nail biter pulled out by 4 late.  These games happen.  The only thing to worry about at this point is how healthy can the 2 missing OL, TE, RB, DE get in 1 week.

Is that really what people are doing?

This is 100% a game that Michigan teams lose up until last year.

I understand disappointment, but anyone calling for someone's job needs to be kicked in the chest and pushed down a few stairs.

Just my opinion.

There were a few in the game thread. Maybe not calling for Harbaugh's job, but calling for him to "clean house" and generally saying he's not a "#3 in the country" coach. But that's par for the course here. I try to stay away from that thread. People lose their minds and use it to vent.

The game threads are terrible when a handful of posters get involved.  I'm going to bet that MGoUser RJ McReady (or something like that) was one of the worst - he usually is during game threads.  Just terrible.  Dude makes some good posts through the week, but during a game thread...  Whoo boy!  He is a King Turd Asshat.  FLion is another, but I think a step behind RJ.

I didn't miss the game thread - I'm sure it was a special kind of hell...

Funny, how that "idiot" Harbaugh called 3 timeouts during that Illini possession that probably allowed Michigan to win the game. That gave Michigan a fighting chance to move the ball down the field and score either a TD or FG to win the game.

In the end; it all worked out but I will remember those 3 timeouts late in the game called by Jim.

Grateful for the W. I didn’t think it was going to happen. 11-0 is 11-0.  Don’t care if today was pretty or not.

The only thing I will say is, if “Today’s” team shows up to Cbus we will lose by 3 TD’s.  Dropped balls. Missed wide open receivers.  No passing game of consequence.  Hoping today is the outlier. If not, next Saturday is gonna hurt.

"This is 100% a game that Michigan teams lose up until last year."

Exactly. For a while there it felt a lot like Iowa 2016. But this time WE found a way to win on a last second field goal.

Sometimes good teams get dragged into the mud (remember OSU/Maryland 2018?). Ugly win for sure but it counts. A lot to work on for next week. Getting everyone healthy would be a big start.

It boils down to what the expectations are.  Want to be competitive in the B1G? If so, Harbaugh will provide that level of play for eternity.  However, if the aspirations are to win a national title, his philosophy/ approach won’t get you there.   Either way, UM could do worse than Harbaugh.

I don't know if the passes will be effective, or if the WRs will catch it (or even get open), but I'm betting the patterns will be better.  And I'm betting that the run game will be more diversified.  I was pretty sad about about all the A & B gap runs because most of them weren't going anywhere.  And by "most", I mean all of them.  Blake and CJ both made a couple of nice cuts to get out of there, but they mostly went nowhere all day.

The game plan smacked of one from a team that figured it would have its way against the other.  And it didn't go that way.  Credit to Illinois for coming to win.  Michigan played to just get out healthy without losing.

With this offensive coaching staff?  I highly doubt it especially if Corum is injured still.

This team has no one outside of Corum and bell.

Not sure how in the fuck schoonmaker is still hurt, and how today we ended up with Gash taking the load of carries.. dude isn't on scholarship for a reason.

Injuries are mounted up and it's probably way too much to overcome against osu

IMO it was to set up going for it on 4th down but lost yardage. Not a bad playcall. And if that's the only complaint you can come up with, then STFU.

Play calling doesn't result in 3 huge drops, a fluke Corum fumble, JJ's best play being called back on a weak hold, and JJ missing open receivers.

There were a couple great screen calls. There were open targets in the passing game. And they pretty much abandoned the run once it was clear they weren't going to get yards on the ground without Corum.

The season has been slowly unraveling. Injuries have been piling up - McNamara, Jones, All, Keegan, Schoonmaker, Wilson, Morris, Edwards, and now Corum have all gone down. But the inconsistent play between JJ and his receivers has been going on too long. Too many close first halves versus inferior teams have been frustrating. Illinois is not a good team. In addition to losses to MSU and Purdue, they beat Iowa 9-6!

Contrary to what JJ says, this team is not better than last year's squad. You don't lose Hutchinson, Ajabo, Hill, and Haskins and declare yourself better. I'm driving to Florida next Saturday. I'll miss my first OSU game since my first in 1969. I don't think I'll be watching the highlights.
