The best thing is all the Michigan fans in Bill C's mentions complaining about us being number 1 after the Colorado game.

That is one of the more Michigan fan things I've seen in a while.

Should we be number 1? No. But people on here act like we are dog shit now. We spotted a bowl team 14 points and still came back to nearly cover the spread. People are way too emotional around these parts...

There might have been some things that we could hve done better but we outscored them 38-7 from the 2nd QT on, we were playing without 3 very good to great defensive players.

We spotted them a nice lead and showed a lot of resolve from a lot of guys, I think Wilton grew up a lot in that game.

Who knows how good Colorado is, they look like a tough team to me and I'll be rooting for them the rest of the way which will make us feel better about our team too.

agreed.  i think much of the complaints, frustrations or whatever result from watching m struggle in certain areas vs lesser teams with 1 eye on osu - knowing m must improve in those areas (which theyll likely do over the course of the season)  in order to beat osu since many are the same areas in which osu typically excels.

osu and the game forever remain the benchmark or ultimate measuring stick so seeing the D give up few big plays, etc stirs up some anxiety (as premature or unwarranted as it may be) in many fans - that, coupled with unusually high preseason ranking / expectations, will no doubt get the emotions flowing

ask yourself.  would you rather have UM's special teams data so far or our opponents during our games.  UM's special teams have been wayyyyyy better; blocked kicks, TDs.  knowing this, there should be no way our ST should be ranked 82.  the actual data is obviously not analyzed/quantified well.

TDs do matter...a lot.

His ST ranking is weighted toward placekicking and punting, and Michigan has not been great in those areas. There has been really limited data on this so far though as Michigan had barely used either until the Colorado game.

Michigan was the preseason #2 defense. The S&P+ ranking is still over 50% preseason projection right now. The preseason data is phased out over the first 7 weeks I believe. The defense has probably played well enough to maintain that ranking for the time being given the extra boost from preseason data.

I made a prediction in January that we would win the national championship. I'm sticking by it. Too many chicken littles around here.

we are a solid team.  top 15, and probably top 10, but we were underwhelming yesterday for the first 20 minutes of that game.  we finished well, but against top talent we will most definitely have our work cut out for us.

The data makes a compelling case that Michigan is disciplined, well coached and deserving of Top 10 consideration. How the metrics skew once we finish this season will be interesting. I think we will continue to have eye popping metrics. Hopefully our W total will match! Nobody coaches and stresses the little details like JH and company.
