Way, way OT: The Patriot: Harbaugh Room

Rewatching The Patriot (Amazon) and episode 3 has a meeting in The Harbaugh Room. Anyone know any backstory here?

I really love watching Jim and John chop it up (especially when their dad is with them). You can tell how genuinely close that family is and how much the brothers love and respect their dad.

Also: I don't think it's too soon. The man gave us the best three-year run in the program's history and topped it off with a perfect season and a natty. He's one of the greatest Wolverines of all time. I hope he achieves his dream of winning the Super Bowl. We should be the ones who cheer for him the loudest.

Maybe if you consider the modern era more impressive and thus discount older seasons, but 1901-1903 went 33-0-1 with three national championships (plus 1904 was 10-0 with a fourth straight national championship). Honorable mention to 1931-1933 (a one loss year in 1931 followed by two undefeated, national championship seasons) and 1947-1948 + 1946 or 1949 (two perfect, national championship seasons bookended by top 10 years).

The best three year run anyone alive can remember? At this point the odds that any Michigan fan is old enough to remember any of those teams is exceedingly low. My grandfather, who would be roughly 110 if he were still around, wasn't alive for any of Fielding Yost's Point-A-Minute teams.

1946-1948 is the only other candidate. 19-2-1, three straight wins over Ohio State, 25 consecutive wins (going into 1949), a Rose Bowl win, two straight undefeated seasons and (depending on how you count) two national championships.

It looks as if earlier complaints about the word "natty" have fallen away. There seemed to be a sizable contingent who thought it was objectionable.

I wonder if objections stopped because players used it regularly .

Or because, after winning a national championship, it's kinda fun to say "natty." It sounds savvy, fire, even natty.

I was not a fan and won't claim to be a fan now, but I'm not about to tell the players what they won. I'll continue to use National Championship to give it the gravitas it deserves. I will applaud a player or staff member who uses Natty and continue to look askance at the cool kids who continue to use the term.

I live in Indianapolis, and went to a Pacers a couple of weeks ago. Suddenly the three Harbaughs are on the giant screen, as they were taking a break from the nearby combine. It made sense for Jim and John to be in Indy at the time, but I guess it says something that they went to an NBA game together and brought their dad along.

that was a treat.  thank you for posting.  it's 'too soon' only because you watch something like that and you realize how exceptional JH is beyond simply the obvious accomplishments.  he is a treasure and his brother, not quite as crazy, is just as cool.

pulling every bit as much for sherrone, but man, that is a r-e-a-l-l-y tough act to follow.

Admittedly before I clicked into this, I thought there was a possibility that this thread was going to contain a video of someone embedding Harbaugh’s head onto Mel Gibson’s character in his movie The Patriot, embedding Ryan Day, Pettiti, Thamel and Finebaum’s heads onto a bunch of redcoats, and watching Harbaugh slaughter them with a Cherokee tomahawk.

A bit overkill perhaps, but hey, I would’ve gotten a good laugh out of it.

As for this show itself, had never heard of it, but the main actor in this show is also in the first two seasons of For All Mankind. The show definitely tapers off without him, but the first two seasons are phenomenal.

I can absolutely see how a Stalions type could sneak into a more inner circle with Harbaugh.

The seemingly lunatic obsession with getting better, loving Michigan, working his ass off and writing a freaking manifesto seems like a Harbaugh type.

Also, despite the “embarrassment” it caused the program, only OSU and MSU fans cry “cheating”, pot meet kettle -OSU been cutting corners, paying recruits, for decades and , no, some guy with an “army” of grad students taping signs with cell phones from across the field did not tip the competitive balance of the multi billion dollar sport, where they are all already taping each other and sharing film.

As we saw when UM kicked everyone’s ass post Stalions-gate. Only sad rivals and non-ball knowers actually believe any of that affected the games.

Living in the south (Florida), I can tell to you, that while Georgia fans believe, and maybe fairly so, that they would have matched up best with Michigan if in the playoff, all the SEC fans here (Bama, UGA, Florida, LSU) I know, acknowledge how good this UM team was and specifically say… they looked like an SEC team on the lines. These to me, are true knowers of ball.

I was so happy to discover this show (several months ago) and so unhappy to discover it was canceled after 2 seasons (several weeks ago). Truly one of the most unique and entertaining shows I’ve ever watched, and I’m very sad that I won’t get to see what becomes of these characters.
