It would be divinely sweet if the reporter that kicked all this off -- McGyver? -- dropped a new bombshell tomorrow.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:16 PM ^
Apparently Mr. Smith is reading his prepared statement for the first time
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:17 PM ^
Same could be said of Meyer - what he he’ll have they been doing all day
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:16 PM ^
Well, they are all getting fucking destroyed on Twitter/social media right now - Meyer, Gene Smith, the BoT, the university and the fans.
Interesting.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:16 PM ^
Meyer just reading the statement written by the PR staff. He doesn't sound sincere at all. What a fucking douchebag!
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:19 PM ^
It's so disingenuous I can't watch this anymore. It's apologizing for getting caught. Nothing more. He's a POS.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:19 PM ^
They would be better off having Ryan Leif read it.
August 23rd, 2018 at 2:40 AM ^
Would you want to read a statement from a PR staff knowing that you did the right thing but still you receive a three game suspension and after being placed on administrative leave over allegations by a washed up reporter who had an agenda to ruin your reputation. I imagine he is pissed because the only reason he is receiving this suspension is to appease the mighty media and PC police.

Urban hiding behind his relationship with Earl Bruce... what a clown...
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:18 PM ^
That Gene Smith still has his job after overseeing the athletic department during both this fiasco and the Tressel scandal while doing virtually nothing about either is monumentally embarrassing. Somewhere around 2012-13, I met an OSU guy that had played under Woody Hayes and Earle Bruce, and during the requisite OSU-Michigan back-and-forth I said that at least his school had a better athletic director than mine. Immediately, he said "Oh, no we don't." How these two great schools and athletic departments could hire such complete clowns is beyond me, but at least we didn't keep ours around for almost 15 years.
August 23rd, 2018 at 2:41 AM ^
Everyone in Columbus believe that Smith should have been fired today.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:18 PM ^
Urban is going to get fucking roasted for that lack of sincerity.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:22 PM ^
Not by his core supporters. There's a state full of cooler poopers who think he's an absolute saint.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:25 PM ^
That apology was the epitome of sorry/not sorry.
August 22nd, 2018 at 10:47 PM ^
Deep down a coach like Urban who has huge success could give 2 shits what the media thinks or fans think of him. He is strictly focused on his football team.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:18 PM ^
The investigative report states that Meyer was informed of the 2015 allegations by Gene Smith. In his written statement issued after he was placed on leave, he claimed he reported the allegations. Which was it? Both can't be true.
It sure sounds like Meyer lied about his lie.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:18 PM ^
This press conference is literally making me sick. What a bunch of fucking slimeballs.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:27 PM ^
Of course his story doesn’t hold up. Seriously, the nickname “Urban Liar” is not unfounded.
OSU just entered full SEC mode (maybe Ole Miss territory) and it could be many years that this type of institutional depravity will stick to them.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:19 PM ^
- Threw a pregnant wife against the wall
- bruised her and cut her open
- arrested in Florida for DV
- DUI in Ohio
- bench warrant for failure to appear
- affair in the office
- dick pics in the White House with his work phone
- Arrested for violating restraining order
- urban knew most if not all
- urban sent his goons to pressure her to drop charges
3 game suspension. God have mercy on the state of Ohio
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:27 PM ^
Fuck the mercy...send an astroid crashing into Columbus immediately! I hate the school and that POS state more than ever and I've hated them all since Woody assaulted the Clemson football player...
August 22nd, 2018 at 10:54 PM ^
That piece of shit state gave you your last 2 Heisman winners.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:20 PM ^
Boy, Urban really sounded sincere as he read that prepared statement in a monotone voice with little to no eye contact.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:20 PM ^
Lying, repeated domestic violence, OVI, using a univ phone to transmit sexual images, sex toys delivered to the OSU offices, sex with subordinates?
Nothing to see here - just a regular OSU supervisor, OSU employee and principle-based BoT.
Bahahahaha. OSU just made ANOTHER mockery of their standing as an academic institution. Quite pathetic and humorous at the same time.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:20 PM ^
Meyer is doing a great Sammy Sosa before Congress impersonation.... acts like he never heard English before.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:25 PM ^
Urban's body language suggests he is not being 100% forthright.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:22 PM ^
This is great. Meyer will have extra time to focus on gameplanning for the B1G. Awesome. Just what we need.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:22 PM ^
Meyer didn't answer the question if he agreed with the suspension. Coward.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:23 PM ^
Urban just said "Most of what I know about Zach is work-related." Sure, that guy that is my mentor's grandson, that played for me, coached for me, that I hired again at my new job, that I was so close to that my wife and I personally counseled through a difficult time in their marriage 9 years ago, that I have known for over 15 years? He's just this guy from work.
August 22nd, 2018 at 10:31 PM ^
Meyer: "I barely knew him! Smith was essentially a coffee boy."
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:23 PM ^
And now the "Us vs. The World" mantra has started sweeping through Buckeye nation. I'd hate to be the Oregon State Beavers.
OSU is going to absolutely roll some teams this fall. Imagine MSU chip on the shoulder x10..
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:23 PM ^
Meyer is such an arrogant bitch. He expected to get away with this completely. He can't believe this is even in question. Who are these people to question me?
August 23rd, 2018 at 2:52 AM ^
He is pissed. He did what was asked of him. He took it higher up. He knows that Smith, the true arrogant bitch should have been fired and he should be back coaching his team that he hasn’t been allowed around since Aug 1st because of allegations brought against him by a washed up reported who has a vendetta against him and OSU. He is being suspended for nothing more than to appease the mighty media and the PC police.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:23 PM ^
I didn't necessarily think three games was completely absurd punishment, but they are fucking bombing these questions.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:23 PM ^
How does suspending the AD accomplish anything? He gets a two week vacation.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:24 PM ^
Meyer is a broken man. He knows he should have been fired. OSU should thank Drake as the “school” would not have issued a penalty without him.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:26 PM ^
I read it the opposite. I think he's furious he has to deal with any of this shit let alone a suspension.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:42 PM ^
Yeah exactly, he showed up to the meeting today to bitch at them till he got his way.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:27 PM ^
They lighting torches and sharpening pitchforks over at 11W because of it.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:26 PM ^
This is actually a pretty good outcome for us. We want to beat OSU with Meyer there. Hopefully this hurts his recruiting a bit.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:26 PM ^
Gotta give the media credit they are asking really good questions.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:27 PM ^
Meyer did not report Smith in 2015. Full stop. Guy should lose his job.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:29 PM ^
If I were OSU I would shut off the mic and stop the presser. It couldn’t be going any worse. These guys suck.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:30 PM ^
Isn't this all a massive Title IX violation? wtf? Where's the justice?
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:36 PM ^
I've read in some places that Title IX doesn't apply since CS is not a student or faculty/staff. Not sure if that is true,
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:48 PM ^
Not true. It doesn’t matter if the victim is a student or employee. What matters is if the assailant is a student or employee.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:56 PM ^
I don't even think that matters. The point is to make these people responsible for making their workplace (campus) safer. To the first point though:
Any employee of the University who becomes aware of sex discrimination as defined in this policy (including sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, stalking on the basis of sex, dating/intimate partner violence or sexual exploitation) is a Mandated Reporter, regardless of whether the recipient of the behavior is a student, employee, volunteer or visitor of the University.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:31 PM ^
What a joke.
Drake should be ashamed of himself. I can't see him getting another job in academia, except maybe MSU or Georgia or something.
And pretty much anyone associated with that university should be ashamed too. Obviously it is more of a football institution than an academic one.
August 22nd, 2018 at 11:06 PM ^
I actually have more respect for Drake. It sounds like he was the only one who demanded at least a suspension based off the Twitter reports, and he followed through with that. I still wish he would have resigned after dealing with all the BS he had to face from the BoT and everyone else on Urban's disciplind, but he clearly didnt do what Urban wanted. And while that was completely unreasonable to wish for, it still would have been awesome to see.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:31 PM ^
They wear the scarlet letter, and it stands for Odious.
Let them rot, and may all their women find better options.
August 22nd, 2018 at 9:31 PM ^
This is laughable. Meyer and Smith just misunderstood their contracts, and thought they did not have to report abuse unless police charges were filed? How convenient. You can send a staffer to lobby the victim not to press charges, or maybe the local cops give a coach a break because, hey, Ohio State and all. What a duplicitous way to avoid reporting abuse incidents.
