Sugar Bowl Pseudo Clowniforms

We're wearing the away jerseys for the Sugar bowl... but no! Not our "normal" away jerseys. Not Last year's away jerseys that we wore for much of this year (trim piping). Not the bumblebee awful-forms from the Michigan State game.... but a combination of them!
I personally don't like the Block M on the left chest. Or the shoulder stripes. The undershirt-as-uniform sleeves is a trend that I've found very interesting recently... but I dunno if the Blue Sleeve is as good as if it were a white sleeve, maize outline of a blue M (modern analog to the Thomas picture below). What is it with adidas and making us have stripes? In general I'd say these are OK, nothing earth shattering, and for a change not bad.
Those are the replicas you can buy.

just not the stripes on the sleeves, thats the only thing I would change.
December 13th, 2011 at 4:55 PM ^
I don't care for the block M on the shoulder. Other than that it's not bad.
December 13th, 2011 at 4:58 PM ^
My question is, why didn't we trot out the jerseys like the one JT Floyd is wearing here at any point?
1) They're perfect. If you want a little branding, change the numbers to a block 'M'.
2) No obvious Adidas markings
3) No strange piping
4) and most importantly (to some anyway), I'd actually want to buy one for a change. Go figure.

Aren't those the ones we wore against Northwestern? The players didn't care for them because they stretched too much.
December 13th, 2011 at 5:27 PM ^
I'm not referring to the stretch...
December 13th, 2011 at 5:38 PM ^
I'm not sure what you're saying here, but the jersey design Floyd has on there is what we wore against Northwestern.
December 13th, 2011 at 5:45 PM ^
Okay, I retract my statement... sort of. It figures that the one game I had to 'watch' on gamecast would be it.
I would then I should ask why not just make the new jerseys like the NW game jerseys? Without the stretchiness flaws, that is.
December 13th, 2011 at 10:11 PM ^
I don't think so. MOAR PIPING vs. Northwestern. Not 2010-design levels of piping, but still not what I'd call a good thing.

all yall old people need to stop griping, change is eminent in the new world, and if you cant handle it then you gotta learn to adjust. I want to let Hokes teams be themselves, everything doesent have to be all traditional and plain. TO NOTE THE JERSEYS it would be cool to use the grey facemasks, i thought they looked sick during ND game
December 13th, 2011 at 5:09 PM ^
This is getting ridiculous. Block M on one shoulder, Sugar Bowl patch on the other shoulder. Where is Falk going to put Hemingway's "Desmond" patch?? Over the Adidas logo?
December 13th, 2011 at 5:26 PM ^
I bet Marketing Dave and the boys at Adidas could team up with Special K to come up a musical mix to sell as a package deal with the clowniformz. Now, what to include in the sound track....
To borrow a phrase Brian made a week or so ago, we are on a slippery slope and erosion got busy.
December 13th, 2011 at 5:36 PM ^
re: Adidas and shoulder stripes, guess how many of the 5 adidas-sponsored B1G teams do NOT normally have shoulder stripes. One of these things is not like the others...

How long until the wings are changed? At this rate it will be a matter of time until some "modern" wings are applied to the helments.
December 13th, 2011 at 5:53 PM ^
are you refering to the wings on the helmet? if so, that will never change. if DB even were to think it he would be sedated and dropped off in the middle of columbus, kinda like snake bliskin, but without any cool toys.
December 13th, 2011 at 5:49 PM ^
Wow, those are fresh. So fresh that I hope we wear our helmets when we walk into the stadium.
December 13th, 2011 at 5:55 PM ^
these new away jerseys are not bad, but put the block M center above the numbers and move the addidas logo to the left.
December 13th, 2011 at 5:57 PM ^
A lot. I also liked the OTL jerseys and the road jerseys vs. Sparty.
December 13th, 2011 at 7:15 PM ^
Bob Ley picked it out the jerseys.
December 13th, 2011 at 6:04 PM ^
Our away unis have gotten so bad lately that these are actually an improvement. So, OK whatever.
The '80's Jim Harbaugh aways unis were the best. Then the 90's A-Train unis. Since it's been a minimum of a decade since we wore any of these, if Dave BRANDon wants incremental revenue from the sale of jersey's du-jour, why not bring back these?

"Michigan's seniors selected this jersey from options adidas presented, according to a Michigan release. Face mask grey, numbers on helmets" -Chengelis
"We met w/ our seniors & showed them concepts that were proposed by adidas & the mock-up is what they chose." - Coach Hoke
December 13th, 2011 at 6:21 PM ^
And although it will never happen, now I really want to see the other mockups. Also, is this the process they used for the UTL and msu games, or were those corporate decisions?

I don't really mind the new look, but I think a solid shoulder and sleeve section would look sweet, with a simple block 'M' to finish it off. Something like this:
December 14th, 2011 at 9:50 AM ^
That looks nice, bravo
December 13th, 2011 at 6:34 PM ^
the plain helmets with no numbers. I liked the numbers, but ready to go back.
December 13th, 2011 at 6:34 PM ^
I actually like them for the most part. I think I would like them a little more if the stripes wrapped all around the sleeve instead of just being on the side, though. And I think our away jerseys should always have a block M on them somewhere. That part looks great. Maybe they coule even be on the sleeves/shoulders? Just above a thin maize and blue stripes? Wait, that's starting to sound familiar...
December 13th, 2011 at 6:44 PM ^
If the players like them, I like them
December 13th, 2011 at 6:56 PM ^
Those are super dope.
December 13th, 2011 at 6:59 PM ^
Grey facemasks, nice.
December 13th, 2011 at 7:09 PM ^
Personaly I like them and I just ordered mine, can't wait for it to arrive so I can show it off to all the ohio fans around me!
December 13th, 2011 at 7:30 PM ^
These uniforms are not bad but they're not great. Hopefully they will look better in person. It's pretty remarkable that the coaches talked to the seniors and used what the seniors want to wear for the game. Hoke has always said it's about the kids and not the coaches or anyone else. I love that about him. That is tremendous leadership right there.
December 13th, 2011 at 8:43 PM ^
These aren't godawful like the UTL or (worse) the bumble-clown costumes from the MSU game. That said, WHY DO WE HAVE TO KEEP PLAYING DRESS UP?! Pick a uniform and stick with it!
December 14th, 2011 at 9:52 AM ^
The UTL Legacy jersey was awesome, but I do wish they would just stick to wearing the regular jersey and just add a patch for special occasions. It was all fun once but I don't want to keep having a new jersey every week, I can't afford it.
December 13th, 2011 at 11:02 PM ^
Welcome to the New World Order. It is a Stylish order.
December 14th, 2011 at 1:43 AM ^
I would actually prefer these over the maize pants. 100%.
There is historical precedent (during Bo's tenure) for white-on-white, and this is a serviceable modern approximation of that look.
I just wish, above all, that we could find an away uniform sans ridiculous patches/piping/etc. and stick with it.
December 15th, 2011 at 9:22 AM ^
My only gripe is that, IMHO, the striping on the sleeves and pants should be consistent.
December 14th, 2011 at 2:32 AM ^
I whipped these up as a reminder that it could always, ALWAYS be worse.
Just wait, guys. I'm calling it now; Brandon debutes extra-special maize uniforms before the 'Bama game next year. All for the sake of 'the brand'.
December 15th, 2011 at 9:36 AM ^
I've liked every uniform U-M has worn this year. I just wish they would get the stripes on the helmets right. There's way, WAY too much blue space between the middle stripe and the outside stripes.
