I think it is more likely that the original discussion was non-committable unless they have space at the end of the process, but in that event they would still want him as a PWO on academic scholarship. (Which I think means he cannot play in games and keep the academic scholarship.)

Then as the end of the process neared, they told him it would be the PWO route.

There is language in all of the offers that it's a conditional offer and can change - pretty sure you can read it in the twitter "offer" image they send out. They offered him an academic scholarship and PWO status instead. The kid is hurt as his future his changed, maybe rightfully so, or maybe because it sucks things are working out like he thought they were. We've heard his side of the story. That might be exactly what happened. It might be a version of what happened.

Big time football recruiting.  Works both ways. Players can "flip" and so can schools. After watching elite programs recruit over players time and time again and end up in CFP, maybe it's time Michigan show a little spine of steel.  Of course there will be people who don't have stomach for it, and it's not for everyone, but remember that when Michigan wins the first B1G in a long time.....

All top schools do this.

Frankly, we would bitch if Michigan didn't do it . . . "too loyal to mediocrity" . . . "too afraid to admit they made a mistake" . . . "living in the past with obsolete rules" . . . etc.

This is the other side of the Dax coin.  Offers / commitments are only statements of interest.  Nothing has actually happened.

That's why they have a signing day.  What happens after that is what matters.

Sounds like what happened with Brian Griese.  He was at Michigan on an academic scholarship.

I have to submit paperwork by certain deadlines too.  Especially on April 17.

If you’re not sure a player is good enough, don’t offer him.

We were just getting back into Belleville who is like the new Cass Tech for high school talent. Hope this doesn’t effect the Seldon committ. They have a sophomore 5 star DT who is a monster, we will really want that kid.

Woods was a weird offer, should have never been made.

Why are we offering low-ranked guys without any other P5 offers in the first place?  As a walk-on, fine, give the kid a shot.  But I have to believe that we can do better than the 112th ranked DE.

Also, this kid has offers from two ivies.  If he's not going to make the NFL, why not go there?

Lol... who cares about this?  One side to the story, and it was “corrected” with plenty of time to go before signing day.  This is a useful thread to find the hiding trolls though!
