I noticed that the writer's name is Andrew Harbaugh.

I have a feeling it will be josh gattis returning to Psu.
January 17th, 2023 at 9:22 AM ^
Gattis may not work out at (yt)Miami, but would he return someplace as a WR coach? I think he could still get OC positions if not HC positions at lower schools even if his P5 prospects are diminished. He'd also be likely to bounce from PSU asap (1 year) to an OC role. With most OC roles filled, it may make sense for 1 year for Gattis, but that doesn't much sense for PSU.

Yeah. The guy won the Broyles Award in 2021. He isn't getting demoted that fast.
January 17th, 2023 at 9:52 AM ^
Did you see his 'offense' at Miami (YTM)?
January 17th, 2023 at 10:38 AM ^
I'm not saying I think he should have won the Broyles ... but he did. Nice thing to have on your résumé.
January 17th, 2023 at 4:16 PM ^
I think the ADs in charge of making the hires at their respective schools are aware how meaningless the Broyles Award actually is. I doubt they care if it’s on your resume or not.

He should have called up COACH PRIME!!!
January 17th, 2023 at 8:55 AM ^
This happened over the weekend..... Read Stubblefield's statement. There's definitely lots behind the scenes here.

At least PSU coaches know how to exit with grace.

Cephas is the #3 receiver in the portal according to 247 for context.
January 17th, 2023 at 9:04 AM ^
There’s no possibility of tampering here, is there?
January 17th, 2023 at 10:33 AM ^
Are you kidding!? The NCAA, world class organization that it is, would be all over that.

Well, if they can sniff out a missing lunch receipt, they can... can do something.
January 17th, 2023 at 9:08 AM ^
Doesn't Frames check out the hotness of the wives of his assistant coaches? Maybe she wore an unflattering outfit?
January 17th, 2023 at 10:16 AM ^
I’m sure he could have provided a VISA Gift Card to an intimate apparel boutique in State College for her use during the visit..

Apparently, transfers not only can pick their new school but also can pick their coach.

That might be the single most frustrating linked webpage I have ever had the displeasure of trying to read on my iPhone. So many popups and ads, impossible to navigate without touching one of the billion links.

I can't imagine working in a field where public firings are common place. I get that football coaches bounce around, but I can not imaging worming my way through this conversation:
"I see you've been fired from Tech recently, State before that, and you left the two previous positions after one season. Not a lot of good press around your adventures. What makes you think your stint here will be different?"
Kind of a weird, unstable profession.
January 17th, 2023 at 11:09 AM ^
And I doubt those questions get asked the same way they'd get asked in a regular professional interview. Everyone in the coaching profession knows that there's no job stability or security in the industry.
Nick Saban coached at 6 different schools between 1976 and 1983 as an assistant. Kirby Smart before becoming Nick Saban's 'crown prince' at Bama had 5 different jobs between 2001 and 2006.

Kudos to Coaches Stubblefield and Franklin for handling the exit statements with grace and professionalism. It's a rotten part of the business, but no need to make a bad situation worse.
January 17th, 2023 at 9:36 AM ^
Dante Cephas is from Pittsburgh. Could be a life long Penn St. fan who knows. Maybe now he just wanted to come back to his home state now that he's proven himself at Kent State. Looking at his recruiting profile he didn't get very many offers initially.
January 17th, 2023 at 9:51 AM ^
Honestly I'm surprised he is going to PSU with Kent States coach now the Colorado OC.

Stubblefield was a beast back in the day for Purdue. If anyone knows the WR position, it would be him.
January 17th, 2023 at 10:24 AM ^
Saw the name Taylor Stubblefield and my first thought was that he was just playing at Purdue a couple years ago, wow he got into coaching early. Then I looked at his wikipedia page and saw that he played at Purdue from 2001-2004. Man time flies when you are getting older.
