OT: Zak Irvin has left his team in Italy for "incomprehensible reasons"

Submitted by Wolverine In Iowa 68 on September 19th, 2017 at 2:56 PM

As cited in the article, it's unclear why he left.  The team released a statement saying Irvin left "for incomprehensible reasons" and "with no signs of intolerance."

Sportnado has reported he left the team for personal reasons and plans to return to the US.

...if there's a bit of mistranslation there.  The team president is quoted in that article as having previously called Irvin "an excellent schoolman," which is...odd.

I also wonder if the "no signs of intolerance" is a reference to racism (or the lack thereof).  Racism in Italian soccer is sometimes blatant.

To me, this Italian guy was saying, "Irvin left. Ladies, look at my gorgeous chest hair that you can see because the top 4 buttons on my shirt are undone. And look at this gold chain, and how my sheer pants hug my manly hips..."

That's a loose translation, of course...

what the historical accuracy of that commercial is.  I assume he's speaking modern Italian, but Marco Polo died in 1324.  English was pretty different back then.  I wonder if Italian was, too.

Noticed he wasn't with the rest of the team at the first home game when they were honored. Wonder if this had something to do with it, possibly just needs time to figure some things out. I Pray that all is well with Zak.

"We have provided all the attention and total availability since the first day of his arrival in the city. I remain his last message in which, recognizing our extreme professionalism, we deeply apologize for the discomfort that is causing us."   WTF???

Why don't we just tweet him?

I mean, Tarik Black was clearly fine, because he was tweeting right after the game.

(Sorry, low blow to the poster who said that...but seriously, I feel like he'll make a statement when he feels the time is right).
