OT: Talking Unsolved Legends / Events S2 P1

Submitted by Eli on April 1st, 2021 at 8:26 PM

Hi Everyone,

So this is going to be the kickoff to season 2 of Talking Unsolved Legends and Events. I started these a couple years ago and I know many enjoyed them so I want to bring it back to give some people who are bored, something to do. I hear you RGard and XM. I have had a lot of changes in my life since I stopped doing these more than a year and a half ago. Part of those changes have me really busy so I cannot commit to doing these on a specific day or even doing them once a week, but I will try. I am also now a Christian Missionary and I am consumed by the word of God in his Holy Bible. I have also broke 2 debilitating addictions that have put my life back on track. I still have other interests and as you guys know, one is talking about unsolved events / legends. Some of the ones I have done in the past are...

DB Cooper

Bigfoot

Ghosts

The Missing Sodder Children

Jonbenet Ramsey

Dyatlov Pass

The Yuba County 5

Jimmy Hoffa

Viscilla Axe Murders

JFK

If you remember others, post them in the thread and I will not do them again. These are only the ones I can remember.

If you have an idea post it here and I will try to do at some point.

The way this works is I post a legend or event that is unsolved. I decide if it is unsolved. Just because the internet says it is solved doesn't mean squat to me. I am known as the Grand Freaking Facilitator to many so on here that is what I do. I set this up and you guys take it where you want. We can use this new thread (Episode 1 of season 2 if you will) to discuss the old ones listed or we can discuss the one I have posted below with a simple link so you can get more information on your own.

I hate long winded posts, but this was kind of needed. So here we go...

Talking Unsolved Legends/Events Season 2 Part 1. What happened to Amelia Earhart. Everyone knows who she is, but we can't just accept the most likely theory that she just crashed and sank. Some say she ran out of fuel and ditched, some say she was captured by the Japanese and some she survived and lived out her years on a deserted island. A woman on Saipan claims to have witnessed her execution. Some even believe she was forced to be used as a part time Tokyo Rose.

So what do you think happen?

Any and all thoughts and comments are welcome as far as I am concerned.

I will not do these during Michigan Football or Basketball Season. these are strictly and offseason deal.

God Bless All Of You

But can we call you 3-Li?

As far as Bigfoot is concerned, my contention is that if he existed, he wouldn't live forever and wouldn't there be a corpse that would have been discovered eventually?

You can, but no affiliation with me.

What if he is a shapeshifter? I mostly agree with you, but the thing that really gets me is the cross cultural experience of Bigfoot from centuries ago. People on every continent have written, talked about and drawn Bigfoot. My best guess is it is extinct. One more thing.. The Patterson Film seems so real to me and if anyone reading this lives in that general area they can tell you that, that area and many other in the Pacific NW are unbelievably Desolate. Just makes you wonder.

"There is literally no evidence."

[Trigger Warning: Incredibly unpopular take ahead]  Much like there is literally no evidence that God exists - but hundreds of millions believe anyway.  I wonder why hundreds of millions don't also believe that Bigfoot could exist?

No trigger here.

There is literally tons of evidence that God exists, people just don't want to accept it. I could go on and on and it wouldn't matter, its a heart issue. I mean the Jews/Romans wanted nothing more than Jesus to go away and guarded his tomb, yet he was Resurrected. They would have never let his body go missing to make them all look like fools and continue the movement that they hated!. I could show you evidence in Egypt, the bricks that didn't have hay inside them just as pharaoh instructed. Even the Red Sea where the sand is glass that was underwater, clearly the sand was on fire not to mention the other geological evidence underneath the water that clearly shows the sea parted. I could take you with me to Israel, Turkey and Syria and show you endless evidence that matches the stories described. It's still a heart issue. I really pray that anyone who doesn't know Christ would read the Gospel and be Saved. Jesus performed miracles and jews thought he was a demon. Would a demon heal people? They witnessed these miracles on many occasions. I could go on for along time. I was once lost so I know it can be hard to accept. People love their sin, it is not easy to quit.

Congrats for dropping the addictions. I've been off porn for over a year and it's amazing. This was something that was a major part of my existence for 30 years. I don't care if people believe in God or not. I do and God is the sole reason why I am in the state I'm in today.

I believe in a lot of paranormal stuff and think a lot of it is worth exploring. But my take on Bigfoot is that if it did exist, someone would have shot it by now. With all the people roaming the backwoods with guns in this country, if the Squatch was out there it would've been shot by a guy named Bubba or Willy a long time ago.

There is an overwhelming amount of evidence for Bigfoot from thousands of eyewitness encounters, to footprints with dermal ridges, to video footage and photos, to strange howls, to government cover-ups,  and many other things that point to it.  It is hard to dismiss all of that.  If I shot one and posted a picture of it, no one would believe it was real.  So, the phenomena continues on and this is why I find it absolutely fascinating.

Just look at the Patterson Gimlin film.  That may be a real Bigfoot you are looking at and science cannot debunk that film as a man in a costume.  And that was from 1967 when technology was not that great to perpetrate a hoax.

There are some backwoods dudes named Bubba & Cleetus that have claimed to have shot one.  They then say they were visited by the Feds and told that what they shot was a "bear".  I'm always skeptical of those stories, but at the same time, people are most often mocked and ridiculed when they come forward with their encounters, so there is nothing good that comes from making up said story.

i was never really fascinated by bigfoot, mainly listened to good stories on Art Bell’s old shows.  the mainstream thinking was that it was just an unknown primate/cryptid.   i’ve heard fascinating stories that imply a more supernatural reason for the scarcity of evidence.

Then during covid lockdown i started listening to a Youtube channel, the Facts by howtohunt.com by Steve Isdahl.  He’s a Canadian hunting guide who reads emailed bigfoot stories, an open forum. For anyone fascinated by the topic its a daily story telling before a fantastic BC wilderness backdrop.  He does elude to a possible connection between Bigfoot and David Paulides’ missing 411 stories, that’s a whole other topic possibly bigger than Squatch.

This one really stumps me. I mean we can all assume she crashed and sank but there are people who claim to have seen her after the accident. The guys who were on the military base really make me wonder. I really don’t know what to think. My gut says that her plane was on the military base.

Some mysteries I would like solved:

1. We know Bob Marley shot the sheriff, but he denies killing the deputy. So who killed the deputy?

2. Did Lefty kill Pancho in the deserts down in Mexico? Or was it the Federales?

Just kidding (kinda...). I always like reading these posts, Eli. Keep 'em coming.

-who stole the kiszka?

-women?

-why did cain slay abel? a more perfect offering?

Isn't it widely accepted some of the hatches on the Fitz were left unlatched, so when the waves started crashing over the deck, they let go and she started taking on water? Already fully loaded and sitting low, the water in the hold just made her sink lower, and that in turn allowed more water in.. at a faster rate.

Think I remember watching a show that described how quickly she would have taken on water, and how the weight in the bow basically pulled her under, to the point where the screws basically propelled her downward to the point of no return. Whatever happened, it was a tragic event.

Think I'll go put on some Gordon Lightfoot now, XM.

having crewed on ships on the great lakes, nothing as big as the fitz though, i nevertheless can't imagine leaving hatches undone when you know the weather is coming and it's going to get worse.  could've happened, but i think she broke in half between incredibly high, short waves while loaded to the gills.

I also believe she broke in half from the wave action and heavy loadout.  That's actually how torpedoes kill ships - evaporate the water underneath them so that the hull crashes down and breaks in half.  A high wave at the stern, and a close following high wave at the bow with the trough under center, and it's all over.  Once that keel is broken, the ship is dead.  I don't care what ship it is.

-why did cain slay abel? a more perfect offering?

I'm sure there are plenty on here who don't care about this topic, but I'm also sure they can move on to the next comment chain. This question interests me.

I think the answer here is actually straightforward. If we follow the principle to interpret scripture with scripture, then 1 John 3:12 answers this bluntly: "And why did [Cain] murder [Abel]? Because [Cain's] own deeds were evil and his brother's righteous."

Hebrews 11:4 also sheds light on this: "By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous..."

To me, the story of Cain and Abel was less about the actual gifts they brought to God. It was more about the state of their hearts in the giving. Abel gave out of faith, Cain gave out of sin. And because of the sin that dominated Cain's heart, he reacted in anger and jealousy and killed Abel.

What do you think?

i think there are some wonderful people on this blog.

and i certainly agree - it was the righteousness of the offering, the first fruits of abel's heart, that made cain hate abel because cain knew he lacked that before the Lord.

Hope you don't mind an OSU fan dropping in.. I love a good unsolved historical event/phenomenon.

First: Congrats on your life changes and finding a better path through life, it takes a lot of guts to recognize you need to make changes in your life, let alone follow through and make them.. I'm sure most of us could find a way to live a little better, however that may be.

Second: I've missed every single one of these, any old links would be greatly appreciated if someone has them.

Third: Potential topic... your thoughts on what the UFO/UAP objects recorded by the US Navy are, and where they came from? They've fascinated me ever since the release, and listening to the pilots talk about them only deepens my curiosity.

The History Channel had a series that followed Luis Elizondo, former director of ATTIP.  Tom Delonge was also in it.  There is definitely a lot more information being allowed out than ever before.   They go in depth on the Tic Tac UAP/UFO footage.  What nobody can explain or refute is that the Navy had been tracking these objects not only in our atmosphere, but at VERY HIGH SPEEDS UNDERWATER.  this is not possible with vessels that we currently have.

It's a sad story.  I think she was having an episode and got herself killed in the water tank.  You can't underestimate the strength of a bi-polar person who has gone off her meds.  She could have lifted the lid to the tank and climbed in.

Of course it gets worse in that the water tank was the hotel's water source and people were drinking that water while she was decomposing in it.

She ran out of fuel and ditched in the ocean.

Howland Island is tiny--less than 1 square mile. Also, I don't think anyone in history has ever landed a plane there.

Welcome back! Glad to see that you are doing this again, I really enjoyed them during OT. Also congratulations on your life changes and the best for you in the future. A couple of topics I would be interested in - the death of Bob Crane (Hogan’s Heroes) and Natalie Wood’s drowning.
