OT: Other than Michigan Football, what are you into?
Since there is absolutely nothing going on in the world of Michigan football at the moment, I was wondering what my fellow MGoBloggers are into outside of Michigan athletics.
Are you a train nerd? Do you build tiny dollhouse furniture like that guy on The Wire? Serial killer?
I'm really into bangin whoores. I go out and bang a lot of whoores.
Sometimes Charlie and I will go down in the sewer (you have to take all your clothes off and hold them above your head to keep them dry).
BUT I DO NOT DIDDLE KIDS!

I like lots of different sports that have nothing to do with Michigan...F1 racing has always been a passion. For personal fun, hiking the Colorado Rockies in the summer is one of my favorite things to do with my family.
The video game league of legends
With Michigan Football, work, kids and a wife, who has time for "other stuff"? Man. I'd like to get back to other stuff. I do enjoy craft beer but that just gets me through the above stuff. If I had time I would commit to:
Smoking pot
Playing golf
Playing Sega Hockey, 1994
Home remodeling
Thanks for the prompt, Mr. Miles. What about you?
I have no time to do anything for myself these days. I have a 4 year old boy that wants every minute of my attention, a teenage daughter looking at colleges, and a stay at home wife whose contributions to our household would charitably be described as "limited".
she sits home all day watching Ellen and The View and laments how she should start exercising?
Although she does at least have slightly better taste in TV (Netflix and HBO mostly).
I recently started dieting and exercising (down 25lbs) and I've been making her do it too. She got a little too comfortable.
I still have both delivered to my home and office respectively. Although the Press only comes three times a week. The online version of the Press is a reproduction of the printed version, so I like that. I find the WSJ website to be rubbish.
1. Soccer - my major interest. I will watch any game from any league. After hating the sport growing up, it is now my biggest interest.
2. Reading - I love fiction series (read HP, SOIAF, SW novels all the time), and nonfiction - mostly labor history and historical accounts of Jesus. I grew up in a conservative evangelical church and while I don't ascribe to it anymore, I am still very very interested in religion.
3. DIY - I made my own coffee table, wood burned some of my favorite quotes onto it. Plan to do the same with a bookshelf this summer.
I'm Catholic and am pretty involved in my Church. I love the Church and enjoy reading theology and apologetics. Like grappling, I'm not good at it (I really don't have the temprament). But I like reading it.
from one piece of wood. It only took me 18 hours
People watching.
Fishing and sucking at guitar. I used to do alot of gaming but not anymore. I may pick it back up if 3D gaming is legit.
to be a serial killer.
I love grappling. Love it. I'm not good at it, mind you, but I love Judo and wrestling and would love to get into Jiu Jitsu when the kids are out of the OMG Expensive private school we have.
I just love the learning the skills, the cerebral aspects to it, the gut checks you go through.
Right now I'm not doing anything and its killing me. And I'm worried that at 43 it won't be too long that I won't be able to do much. But even if I'm the old arsed guy I'm trying to keep myself in shape enough that I can join the local JJ club.
Secondarily I love weight lifting.
I also have a 16ft boat I share with my brother. I enjoy taking the kids out on that. And twice a year my brother and a buddy and I go camping. Those trips are two highlights of my year.
Finally, I love TALKING about CARS (hint hint JeepinBen...)
I work, shuttle children to sports practice and various after school events, then collapse into bed at night and read. I love reading.
I probably have too many hobbies:
-Basketball: I coach and play with a couple pickup groups
-Crossfit: Hate if you will, I love it. Focusing more on the powerlifts right now.
-Outdoorsy stuff: hiking, camping, skiing
-Beer: homebrew a little and drink a lot
I'd love to get more into DIY and woodworking, but lacking the space right now.

Since my coaches and team have multiple state and national records, probably not.
time we have to hear about you and your Crossfit you should be good. Additionally, are you a Vegan or do you vape?
What a dumb meme. "Tell me about your hobbies. Except for that one."
a joke, Hulk. Stereotypical as it was.
collecting vinyl and music in general
playing poker
drinking
I'm also currently trying to ween myself off of internet porn as a personal challenge. This has been difficult
lifting/bodybuilding
Automobile modding (I AM asian)
Drone flying
Anything expensive, unfortunately
never said what your non Michigan interests were, Hatter.
Got a new car that's become quite a hobby going to car shows and get togethers.
Golf
Grilling food
or using a kit like Chesepeake light craft?
I built a Chesepeake 16 severa years ago. Loved it. I didn't get the pre cut stuff, bought my own wood/epoxy.
I want to build another one, once the kids get older.
Probably from scratch. It seems simple enough to use cedar strips and the stitch and glue method. Just not sure where to get the raw materials, or if I will have to cut my own cedar down to the right size. That could create quite a headache.
There are usually rare wood lumber yards around.
I was a hack. I loved working with Okume. Cedar sounds like it would make an absolutely beautiful boat. I don't know if I have the skillz to work with it though.
If I can throw in some unsolicited advice: If you haven't done stitch and glue before, it might be helpful to get 'The New Kayak Workshop', or look at some of CLC's video's. Oh, and buy a respirator when you start to sand the epoxy. Really. Buy a respirator and wear it all the time there is epoxy dust around. Lets just say I know its a good idea.
Good Luck! You'll love your boat!
Thanks I will definitely heed your advice. Whatever wood is easiest to work with I will probably try, so maybe I will use okoume. Cedar is obviously some of the most expensive and probably the most difficult to find in the right cuts.
Remodeling my house one room at a time.
Gardening.
I am a huge comic nerd, but I want to start backing off and returning to literature.
Vinyl.
Planning to learn Spanish this summer.
Hanging with my son and bowling. He's 4 and already loves to bowl.
I am the father of two girls under 5, so I am just now starting a collection of large, menacing guns. Also, I play the bass guitar in a classic rock cover band. It pays for (some of) my booze and is contributing to my hearing loss.
I also enjoy cooking, but this is at least somewhat due to me wife being a sub-par cook. Not entirely her fault, as her mother is even worse than she is. Maybe I'm just a picky eater... I like my food well seasoned and my red meat warmed through. They salt nothing, thinking it's healthier to avoid sodium, and cook everything to death out of fear of illness.
Other than that, I enjoy hitting the gym irregularly and drinking IPAs and various whiskeys.

Building my own private course:
I go fishing every chance I get. Smallmouth Bass and Trout are the targets.
I also sketch and paint during my free time. I sketch everyday at work as a footwear designer, so I keep the juices flowing when I get home.
I'm also obsessed with my dog. We hike twice a week at least.
My art:

love those salmonoids
I'm a flipper. I buy and resell. Lots of video games, collectibles, antiques, glassware, other electronics. Mostly to fund my Michigan apparel & GoFundMe purchases.
In my spare time, I like to be a shepherd. I get some sheep, and then I tend to them...
If you're gonna jerk off, why don't you do it at home with a moist towel?
You're lecturing me on life?
