OT: Michigan in other media
So this will probably be negged or just swamped by BBQ updates, but while watching the opening ceremony of the Olympics there was an ad for a show called "The Good Place". The star Kristen Bell had a scene wearing what appears to be a Michigan shirt...featured on her assets?...if that is OK to say.
Looking into the show it is from Michael Schur who created Parks and Recreation that had Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones characters moving to Ann Arbor to work for UofM. Schur was born in Ann Arbor.
So my question is what is your favorite mentioning of Michigan/Ann Arbor in some other media, be it music, movies, video game, book etc?
Jumper will be the all time classic obviously, but my vote would go for "Mainstreet" by Bob Seger, mainly because people are shocked to learn it is about Ann Arbor and really Ann Street.
WTH? Fix your dictionary!
They both did. I didn't watch the show regularly, but I remember the episode where they came up for a reason for them to not move onto campus.

Yep. The founders were doctoral candidates at UM. And in a few episodes, Ann Arbor is referenced as shorthand for the Initiative.
My wife and I were really into Lost. I even listened to the Lost podcast where the writers talked about the show. There was a part of the podcast where they talked about how they loved Michigan. I clipped that part, and sent it to my brother who was a big fan of the show, but also likes Michigan State.
Anyway, here is an appropriate list. https://www.michigandaily.com/content/universitys-imaginary-grads
In S3, mobster and total psycho Robert Quarles is trying to bribe Raylan, and Raylan mocks him with a sarcastic comment asking if he learned that in business school.
Quarles looks real pleased and replies, "UofM. Go Blue!"

In one of the Pink Panther movies (too lazy to look it up) a Gerald Ford like President is watching the end of UM vs. Navy in the Oval Office when the broadcast is interrupted by the crazy Frenchman Dreyfuss who wants inspector Clouseau delivered to him in exchange for not blowing up the world. The President demands that the CIA, FBI et al be used to find out who won the interrupted football game.
Both understated but I like subtle....
For anyone who has never watched anything in "The Pink Panther" series as it concerned Peter Sellers, you must do this. From the movie referenced above, for example
where Ford is awoken during the middle of the night and, he sleeps under a Michigan blanket, of course.
I don't have much off a favorite Michigan mention in media, but in honor of the OP's handle and avatar, here's a Dead show at Hill Auditorium that has showed up on a few "underrated" lists in the Dead community from time to time. On a personal note, it was my first Dead show.

Schur being from Ann Arbor explains so much! In the promo for his new show, The Good Place, Kristen Bell wears a Michigan Law t-shirt.

Peter Riegert's character in The Sopranos (Ronald Zellman) was a UM alum.
to Ann Arbor. Saw a special screening of the film hosted by the UM Alumni Club of Chicago. Film makers went to Michigan and the movie had a UM prof in a supporting role. The prof (can't remember his name, but he's been a student favorite in the LSA English department for years) was there to talk about how the director, who was a former student of his, convinced him to basically play himself in the movie. It was an interesting evening. While not a big theater production, the movie was pretty decent.
While my wife and I were watching the Olympics last night, a trailer for the The Good Place came on during one of the commerical breaks. Kristen Bell was wearing a Michigan shirt and my wife says, "We're everywhere!"

The drummer for the Red Hot Chilli Peppers started singing Hail to the Victors at the end of one of their concerts in Columbus.
The main character in The Polar Express is from Grand Rapids, which is where Chris Van Allsburg is from.

Here's a "bad guy" reference. The Ansar Dine lead in Bamako is an UM grad (could be Dearborn) from "American Odyssey". First aired on NBC and now on Netflix streaming.
