OT - Best non Michigan gift you received this year.

Submitted by Honest Abe on
I figured we could use something else to talk about after reading that most recent post (holy shit). Anyways, my best non UofM gift was Ron White tickets for 2/24 at Michigan Theater. I have been warned about going to the theater, but Ron White is hilarious and it should be a good time. What did you guys get?

Savage has quite a few affordable models, but they have some "higher end" versions.  This version is right in line with the Ruger Precision, etc.  I bought this one because I'm a lefty shooter and needed a lefty bolt.  No other rifles in the price point with a chassis come close to meeting that price.

I've got the worst form of lefty shooting.  I shoot long range (300+ yards) left handed because I'm left eye dominant.  However, I'm a right handed individual, so I shoot pistols right handed, along with close in rifle work (gas guns) right handed.

It's very difficult to find non custom guns in left handed bolt guns as I'm sure you're aware, so I jumped at this price to purchase a sub MOA lefty bolt gun.

I'm guessing by your username you are in the Marine Corps (thank you for your service!) so you know a thing or two about shooting.  Many people don't understand eye dominace or how to work around it.  I'm a civilian who enjoys training and I have a range on my property so I can train often.  I often have new shooters out & establishing eye dominace and how to manage it is an early step.

Partly because I'm a lefty, I really enjoy AKs.  The charging handle on the right comes quite naturally to me and I thoroughly enjoy hearing right handed people complain about something not being "setup for them." :D  (Of course, the Russians specifically train with using the trigger hand to charge the weapon but that conflicts with our Western sensibilities.)

Great track.  You'll enjoy it.  Take extra scrub golf balls and hit them in the lake off of 12 tee.  Just make sure there are no boats below.

I've had the good fortune of playing there a couple of times, and each time someone has hit a downhill putt off the front of the green and had it roll 30+ yards down the fairway.

Socks. If I wasn't already my father, this Christmas I became my father. It is a thoughful gift. My wife knows just how nuts it makes me to stumble around the house looking for clean matching socks.

Weber with propane start and whole host of other bells and grilling whistles.

But the wierdest gift I got was a baby chair swing for our CATS.   My wife thought they'd play in it (they dont) so I have no clue why she thought either I or the cats themselves would want the darn thing.  She said I could return it if I wanted to but the look on her face told me in no uncertain terms I did NOT want to return it.

We've got plenty... and more is on the way.   Hope Lk Erie freezes over more sooner than later.  I don't mind the snow (it's actually pretty out and the 2 day snowfall is impressive) but I don't want 4 months of lake effect accumulation!

a healthy family. 9 days of the plague in our house. four of them essentially bedridden. Christmas morning we were at least 75% finally and it was nice to hear the kids play again.
