Submitted by andben on

And for those who have been asking, I will be holding a press conference tomorrow at school where I will announce my decision.

I said normally which means most of the time. Yes, we've had a couple instances where players held news conferences to stay, but I just think Nik and Glenn r both leaving. It's weird that Mitch isn't deciding with the other two tmrw, which leads to believe his decision is different??

He will beast in the NBA. Unlimited range, quick release, great court awareness.. I really think he will step into the league next year and be an above average NBA offensive player from day one. Should be fun to watch.

Nik: "I am here today to announce that ESPN was right, that I am competing with Devin Gardner and Shane Morris to be the starting QB for Team 135 in a QB controversy."

Also, Rod Beard points out here that the team banquet is on Wednesday, and the NBA decisions have usually been announced before that event in the past, so the decisions on all three Wolverines could come out by Wednesday.

So it looks like Stauskas and GR3 are gone, and we wait on McGary. So we have bad news on the first 2, but hope for good news on the 3rd.

But it's interesting because if you had to pick only one of the 3 to come back next year, given next year's roster, you would probably pick McGary. I know Nik was BIGPOY, but Levert is not a huge dropoff in that spot, not nearly as big a dropoff as the 5 would be without McGary.

So I am staying optimistic, if we get Mitch back, we are right in the BIG title race.

I like the positivity but Nik had a legendary year. Levert was super solid. Big drop off, huge loss. Hopefully Levert can make a huge leap to close that gap. Irvin, Spike and Walton are only going to get better too. I think it's not a one to one thing. Like after we lost Trey...we absorbed the loss and got better because we were collectively better around the horn. Not even fair to do a Sauska to Levert, or Burke to Walton comparison in my mind.

It would be great for Nik to stay from a team perspective but for him it wouldnt make much since. The scouts would then have more time to pick him.game apart (think about him stuggling against smaller guards) He made such a huge leap from freshman yr to soph yr that if he came back and didn't correct any deficiencies in his game he would look like he regressed to the scouts

Interesting that 1st rounders like Montrezl Harrell & Willie Cauley-Stein are staying put - especially since big men are in such demand.   Coach K is probably steamed Cauley-Stein is staying since he had that spot slotted for a top 10 recruit.

I love sending players to the pros. It's step one in becoming a truly elite program. As long as we have pro talent coming thru the pipeline, well be just fine. We don't really care about having experience on the team and winning a National Championship anyways :-/

Good luck to Nik and GRIII in the NBA. It was great to watch them while they were here.

MLive: Mitch McGary still mulling decision, will not announce future plans on Tuesday alongside Nik Stauskas, Glenn Robinson III

McGary's father, Tim McGary, told MLive on Monday night that his son has no intentions to partake in the press conference and is still undecided on whether he return to U-M or not.

"He's still back and forth on it," Tim McGary said.

Tim McGary said he expects to meet with Mitch McGary on Wednesday during Michigan's annual basketball banquet to discuss the decision further.

"As far as I know, he hasn't decided anything," said Tim McGary who was asked if there was any chance his son would make any announcement during Tuesday's press conference and joked, "He better not."

Just like GRIII should have stayed, Nik has to go.  He is going to get a nice chunk of change.  He really can't maximize his position any more than he has this year.
