That's a bit of a comedown from the hope of rotating series with Va Tech, UCLA, Oklahoma, Texas, Washington... makes you wonder if any of those games will actually happen. I would still prefer the non-con to be MAC, higher level group of 5, power 5 with the P5 being at home the years Michigan only gets 4 B1G home games. Until we show some chance of beating OSU, I'd rather play a more interesting regular season if we aren't positioning for the playoff.

We win on a missed UNLV field goal...

But seriously, while I wouldn't want this schedule every year, if we can get our house back in order, that's actually a schedule that gives us a good shot at 11 wins.  Not only do we not have, say, ND in the non-conference, we don't have Wisconsin or Iowa in our crossover game.  In all likelihood, one of Minnesota, Purdue, or Nebraska will be good that year, but this seems like the most humane set of crossovers games we've had in some time.  Imagine not having to avoid a slip-up against ND and Wisconsin and Iowa (and PSU) prior to OSU... which is precisely the slate we had last year.

Thank you College Football Playoff. There is exactly zero incentive to play anyone in the Non-Conference. They have proven time and again that they select the Power 5 team with the fewest losses. They do not bother to look at schedule. No sense in risking a loss to a capable team.

And many now see even the Rose Bowl and the Orange Bowl as relatively unimportant when they aren't part of the playoff. Two great things about college football were that early games mattered and that a number of teams had a chance to leave the field as champions of a meaningful bowl at the end of a season. The playoff has damaged both for the sake of crowning a champion whose claim to being the best is still somewhat absurd. I am totally against it.

I think I’m in the minority, but I am fine with scheduling all cupcakes all the time in the non-conference, so long as they are actually FBS schools. The B1G has enough quality that we do not need to bolster our resume with marquee non-conference wins. I’d be willing to bet that running the table and losing to OSU would get us into the playoff most years, provided the OSU loss isn’t a blowout.

The "softening" of the schedule the last few years was the main factor in giving up my season tickets.  Not worth paying for the cupcake games (and the weaker conference games) just to get tickets for the 2-3 "good" opponents at home (for the years when we're actually good)

IF I'm still a season ticket holder, I can't wait to pay $90.00 per ticket to see that game; plus the right (fee) to see the game live and in person.

I wish we were playing in Vegas for that game. Both an awesome weekend trip of football, and would allow any CA recruits to be within a drive of the game.

Michigan should be playing 1-2 schools from Texas/CA/FL every year. Ideally, at least one of those games would be there as well.
