META - Ads in the middle of posts

Submitted by poseidon7902 on

Anyone else seeing ads now show up in the middle of people's posts?  It just recently started, so not sure if it's driven by an update to Chrome or possibly something that's how we're going to run this place now which seems like a really bad move.  This is the 3rd thread today that I've seen this happen.

I don't have a problem with ads around content, or even in the middle of a story, but I would take real issue with ads in the middle of comments.  I don't want my name attached to your ad.  There seems to be plenty of whitespace to the right of the comments area that could be used instead.

One of the (many) reasons I don't use Facebook is their propensity for advertising things by showing how many of my friends use X, Y, or Z.  I find it incredibly creepy.  This is different, but it falls into the same basic category.

Just another random thing I noticed.  I Googled MGoBlog and it lists out the different pages such as Articles and Message Board.  It also lists random posters like UMBig11 and another poster.  Not sure MGOBlog wants traffic directed to posters profiles.

Just chalk it up to the crapification of damned near everything and assume that Brian & Co are trying to survive like everyone else. Things looked dicey there for a while but--for me, anyway--the resumption of the football season has gone some way to righting the ship.
