Matt Millen - lead football analyst for the Big Ten Network

Submitted by Millen2014 on

Matt Millen is leaving ESPN to return to Fox Sports, the media company where he rose to be the No. 2 NFL announcer at the turn of the century, according to several sources.

The longtime football analyst will become the lead football analyst for the Big Ten Network, paired with Kevin Kugler. Glen Mason was paired with Kugler as the network’s top game analyst last season.

My hate for Millen has subsided some, he isn't the worst announcer ever or anything. I just wouldn't want him in my teams draft room is all. He played the game at a high level and deserves some respect, he also owned the 0-16 thing and his Lions tenure as a whole. It's not like he is kicking off anyones favorite annoucer from B1G Network... if he is though I'd be very curious as to know who. I usually watch B1G Network on mute. Happy Memorial Day.

Ulghhhhj. Bleh. We need guys like Steve Everitt.....not DB Millen. He's proved his douchery. So many times over.

So.....in regards to Millen getting the gig... Does anyone have any experience with putting the TV on mute during the game and listening to the radio broadcast simultaneously with the TV?

Is there a big time gap?

This is the extent of management's creativity - to recycle the same old tired personnel. Don't actually try somebody new or anything. As Brian has stated many times, people are in charge of things just because......

business management tends to be one big circle jerk in this country as elsewhere. The reasons that so many apparent hacks like Millen continue to thrive are destined to remain obscure to most of us.

i will watch MM if :

he spends 60 seconds at the start of each broadcast, reviewing the fact that he ranks with the least successful GMs in the history of pro sports. specifically, that he gave his best efforts and talent to create the only nfl team which went 0-16.

then he should apologize to all fans who watched his teams and a specific apology to fans of the lions.

thus, i will never watch/listen to MM.

mute please

of the BTN consists of Wolverines and Sparties, but I can't imagine any of them being to happy about this move.

Doesn't that enter into the decision process?

How the heck does MM continue to get work in football. I'm not certain that even the PSU fans of old would care to listen to his nonsense.

I think JUB could write a pretty decent book called "Failing Upwards: The Coaches that Defy Sports concept of meritocracy". Included would be Millen, Weisz, the collective coaches of the Browns and Bills for the last 20 years and Juande Ramos
