Keep the white pants for road games or nah?

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

I say yes. I've gotten so used to them that it actually looked weird to me for a moment seeing the Citrus Bowl practice photos with the white jerseys and Maize pants.

Here's a mock up by a message board poster from SportsLogo.net of what it would look like next year with Maize pants.

I like all of the pants and think they should be rotated maize/white/blue. I really liked the one jumpman concept with blue pants and the maize jumpman. Would only like to use it once though. Does Harbaugh really pick a season out and base the Uni off of that? I know he did it with 74/75 this year. I like the helmet stickers as is. They looked badass

You know what looked great? Winning 10 games. Wear something similar to a jersey Michigan has worn before. If the players are pumped up and doing well, I'm happy.

I was hesitant about all whites. Went to opener in SLC and from the moment I saw them live I loved them. Sharp, clean, blue collar, classic. When I saw them with helmets on I loved them even more. Gives the best helmet in the history of football center stage. Love the whites. And normally I hate change of any kind.

Keep the whites. Lose the yellow trim. Something like this

Replace the addidas symbol with a Jumpman and all white pants like the ones wore with the bumblebee uniforms

Minimist and the maize on the helmets would really pop. I thought the yellow and blue stripes on the pants look far too old school and like something a bad high school team would wear.

I like the maize pants better than the white, but I prefer the white to that picture of the blue (Yes, I know it's not real). In the end, it doesn't really matter.

The all white looks sharp and actually authentic from the mid 70's. I like them. But the maize pants for road games is our iconic road uniform and I'd kind of like that back. Great memories of Michigan wearing that uniform when.... *Tryone Wheatley ran wild over Washington in the Rose Bowl. *Remy Hamilton's field goal breaks Notre Dame's heart. *Jamie Morris becomes the all time leading rusher against Minnesota *Judgment Day in Happy Valley (my favorite all time road win) *Making Brady Quinn peel sod off his helmet *Harbaugh backing up his guarantee of victory in Columbus *Tom Brady beating Alabama in the Orange Bowl *Henne and Hart beating Florida in Lloyd's final game *The 21 point comeback against Minnesota *JD Carlson kicking the game winner in Columbus And so on and so on.

We should keep them as an alternate. Also note, that in this mock-up, the elastic on the arms is white, and the stripes are on the fabric of the jersey, like they were; the numbers have been shifted up on top of the shoulders. I was always excited about the all-whites (had been asking for them for years), and I absolutely loved them. But, I have to admit that they aren't as good as the white/ maize with no outlining/ piping.

I love the Maize, but the white pants really grew on me this year. Of course, just watching U-M win this year also may have given me warm feelings that may be clouding my judgment.

Ultimately, I don't care if the away unis are any color besides green or scarlet. Just win the game.

Go Blue!

My reading/understanding is the road pants were white this year as an ode from Coach Harbaugh to 1974, the first year his dad Jack was an assistant to Bo. Michigan wore white pants on the road during the 1974 season. I'm hoping they go back to wearing maize pants, and wear the same road uniform JH wore.

I'm a purist, so I say bring back the maize. But at the end of the day, if Harbaugh wants his players to wear striped pants with smiley faces on them, then I'm okay with that.
