The future has been created, today we find out: Open Thread
The current rumor is Ohio game moved to October, MSU game moved to last Saturday in November thus destroying the MSU - Indiana protected rivalry. Other rumors include to hell with Notre Dame, and Michigan to the Big East (OK, I made that one up). What say you?
UPDATE: Kelvin Grady, en route to New Orleans, doesn't seem too bothered.

The Big 10 will announce it is leaving the NCAA along with the SEC, Big 12, and PAC 12 to form its own intercollegiate athletic association.
Book it.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:31 AM ^
And they are taking all the BCS bowl games with them.
We will never have a playoff.

MANPOLITICS

I don't think that it's Michigan-OSU. If it were, I suspect we'd be seeing some smoke on the OSU end, but that isn't happening.
December 28th, 2011 at 9:31 AM ^
i sincerely hope they dont move the game, if they dont want us playing back to back weeks they should tell the other schools to pick up their game.
December 28th, 2011 at 9:32 AM ^
The night game was such a success that all games will be at night and they will have to pick one day game a season.

The Under the Sun game?

Dave Branding announces UM will have "special" uniforms for all 12-14 games next season.
Ditto for their new mascot.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:37 AM ^
I don't want ever want to encourage an opportunity of us ever being referred to as the Oregon of the east.
December 28th, 2011 at 12:27 PM ^
Is it legal to change unis at halftime? If so, we could have first and second half unis for the different games and really juice up the marketing possibilities as everyone has to hit the M-Den at halftime to have the latest stuff.

December 28th, 2011 at 9:35 AM ^
I think we'd announce a schedule change via statement (I assume this is a presser). I am guessing mascot...and then meltdown.
December 28th, 2011 at 9:35 AM ^
Wasn't the issue of possibly moving THE GAME to October settled (and avoided) last Spring? Why wait 6 months and then make a big announcement that it is being moved after all?
As for Notre Dame, we've had breaks from playing them before (1983-84, 1995-96, 2000-01) which was no big deal and I highly doubt we stop playing them permanently.
December 28th, 2011 at 9:58 AM ^
The ND series was renewed through like 2027 or so, so I highly doubt that's going anywhere. (I'm pretty sure that part was a joke.)
December 28th, 2011 at 10:10 AM ^
While it was announced there was never a contract signed. I'm so sick of ND that I wish the entire BIG would flip them the bird and stop scheduling them altogether.
December 28th, 2011 at 11:25 AM ^
Maize and Blue said, that agreement was pre Big 10 expansion. I think it's a foregone conclusion that something is going to get tweaked in the ND series. I seriously doubt that Michigan wants to maintain a schedule where they play at OSU, Notre Dame, and Nebraska every other year.

David Brandon is going to announce he's sorry for sticking Student Tickets to the Sugar Bowl in the upper bowl of the Superdome? The student tickets are more expensive for this game than a Saints regular season game. By comparison, lower bowl tickets go for one-third of a Saints game.
Sorry I just had to get that off my chest.
December 28th, 2011 at 9:46 AM ^
I got student tickets and am in lower bowl.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:45 AM ^
That doesn't mean everyone did... I did too, but the section extends into the upper bowl.
December 28th, 2011 at 9:37 AM ^
Is the speculation specific to Michigan, or is it in regards to the B10 as a whole?
If Michigan specific:
1.) 2012 night game scheduled at the Big House
2.) The GAME played earlier in the year
3.) Additional seating added to the Big House
B10 Conference announcement:
1.) Division names changed
2.) Championship game going to be played at Ford Field
3.) Notre Dame joins B10
December 28th, 2011 at 9:42 AM ^
Just listened to the podcast and they said it's a B10 announcement.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:53 AM ^
that is the case, ND to Big Ten is most likely, along with another team already considered but to be named later. Big House night game is so 2011, that would not be the subject of a "conference announcement."

December 28th, 2011 at 9:47 AM ^
Yeah, I had the same question while reading through all of this. Everyone seems to be talking about two different things at once. When something about this was posted a few days ago, it seemed like it was just a U-M announcement, but now it seems like it is B10.

If they want to play a conference team they have to join the conference.
Four hours later the Irish unveil their 2017 schedule:
- Rice
- Vanderbilt
- @ Stanford
- @ Army
- Air Force
- Virginia Military
- Southern California
- @ Navy
- @ Boston College
- Brigham Young
- Duke
- Villanova
December 28th, 2011 at 9:40 AM ^
That's still better than virginia tech's schedule.
December 28th, 2011 at 9:41 AM ^
And they'll still go 8-4.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:34 AM ^
and somehow they'll get a BCS bowl.
December 28th, 2011 at 11:53 AM ^
And ranked in the top 10.
December 28th, 2011 at 10:55 AM ^
And they will still brag about playing a national schedule, then bitch about having to travel more than any team because they don't have a conference.
