Friday Night Drinking Thread. What's in your glass/bottle/cup?
TGIF my fellow MGobloggers. Hope everyone survived this crazy week. Enjoying the mild weather here in West MI with a bonfire and a new bottle of bourbon. Elijah Craig small batch store pick. Meijer has a limited supply. Pretty dang good ??.
Stay safe and have a great big beautiful Meeeechigan football weekend!!!!

Makers 46. Not very creative effort on my part, but tasty.

I'm just sippin' Bulleit, nothing wrong with that.
November 6th, 2020 at 9:54 PM ^
Kroger alkaline water tonight. Had several bulleit old fashioneds last night watching the Packers.
I avoided this site and the podcast this week for obvious reasons. After reading that indiana preview post I do not regret my decision. Looks like lots of extra rash takes for a flukey 3 point loss without fans present.
Were going to beat a top 15 team on the road tomorrow. Stay positive and keep the faith! Forever go blue.

Old Forrester 1897 Bottled in Bond. It's good.
Did you watch your Rams on livestream? Do they get it done next week vs Grandville?
November 6th, 2020 at 10:05 PM ^
Haven't tried OF 1897 BiB. Where did you find it? Love OF 1920.
Wasn't aware of the livestream, can you provide me the info? Grandville will be a tough opponent. Looks like UM grad Brent Cummings has them playing well. Wish him all the best. Went to school with his Dad and aunts. Go Rams!!!
November 6th, 2020 at 11:19 PM ^
1920 is great. I found the 1897 at my local liquor store (not too far from you). Old forrester might be my favorite distillery.
I guess I dont know for sure if the Rockford game was livestreamed. I think now that it is playoffs, all livestreams go through the nhsfb website and it costs $10. Unfortunately, my team lost last week, so I am trying to figure out the livestream situation. Didn't watch any games tonight as I always promise my bride a non-football friday evening immediately whenever my season ends.

Voodoo Ranger Higher Plane IPA. Not a very strong tasting IPA, rather citrusy, but 8.5% ABV. Not bad. Gotta love the art on the can. Reminds me of Grateful Dead or Iron Maiden album cover art.
November 6th, 2020 at 10:20 PM ^
Just cracked a Voodoo Juicy Haze myself.
Costco (in Colorado anyway) has been selling a sampler case of New Belgium Voodoo IPA variants for a few weeks now at a great price.

A few sweetwater 420s. Popular in the south, but we can’t get them in Michigan or the Midwest, unfortunately.
On another note, how can nc state have almost 40 points vs Miami in the 3rd quarter, but we can barely get to 20 vs MSU?
November 6th, 2020 at 10:22 PM ^
Mostly because we weren't trying to score 40.
November 6th, 2020 at 11:30 PM ^
It's a staple down here in Georgia. Tailgated next to an osu fan once that had some and was nice enough to share even though he didn't have a bunch. They aren't all bad.
November 6th, 2020 at 10:46 PM ^
I'm a Buckeye fan, but Ohio fumbled the ball on Tuesday with the game on the line and choked. Michigan came through in the 4th quarter and finished for once. So thanks. Having a Makers to celebrate.
November 6th, 2020 at 11:01 PM ^
Feeling...relief. Got bombed Tuesday. Having black English tea with a spritz of lime and sugar. And weed. I'm smoking weed!

Infused a fifth of Bulleit Rye with tart cherries that we picked over the summer. Pretty tasty stuff.

Boulevard Black Pale Ale.
I don't think they even make it anymore, but my old man tends to hoard booze, so there's always a surprise in the back of the cabinet.
November 6th, 2020 at 11:15 PM ^
Drank some Weller Full Proof and then a Bourbon County Midnight Orange. Celebrating some obvious stuff that seems hard for Networks to admit currently.

I finally had a Friday evening off work. We had happy hour with some friends and co-workers on my patio. A friend brought the beer where we had several bottles of Shiner's Octoberfest and Leinenkugel’s snow drift vanilla porter. I never tried the snow drift but it was pretty good. I always associate Leinenkugel with the sandy light beers. The wine we had with filets was great we had a 2010 cab from Henry Earl Estates from Red Mountain Washington. Excellent in my opinion.

Sierra Nevada Celebration IPA. Winter is coming. Fighting Brady Hokes on the TV.
November 7th, 2020 at 12:19 AM ^
SDSU Fighting Hokes kind of blew their chance at a comeback with 2 turnovers in the 4Q. Got upset at home. QB intentionally grounded the ball with a backwards pass, deemed a fumble. Then punt returner muffed one by not calling a fair catch.
November 7th, 2020 at 6:12 AM ^
Not good mayn. Looked like they were playing in LA though?
November 7th, 2020 at 7:22 AM ^
Wait the MWC got that backwards pass/fumble rule correct. The SEC should hire that crew.
November 7th, 2020 at 12:03 AM ^
My friends, would it be obtuse to ask for calm for this young team? I checked out for a decade after Woodson, and it seems like we were blowing in the wind. Harbaugh is building a juggernaut, it takes time, and they should keep the staff in place. Also, let these young men harden.
November 7th, 2020 at 12:10 AM ^
Also, I'm chasing Evan Williams with a Coca-cola Classic, snidely, and sniffing some great Australian amberwood.

Casablanca, A Nimbus Estate Pinot Noir from the Casablanca Valley in Chile.
It’s a medium bodied smooth dry soft Pinot with a red fruit bouquet, strawberries, raspberries, cherries with a touch of cranberry. It has additional notes of delicately smoked herbs, French oak, white chocolate and espresso coffee with hints of lemur piss, the back seat of Jennifer Daley’s 1972 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale Convertible, burnt black tar heroin, sea salt leprechaun balls and dried lavender.
3 1/2 stars.

I started with 2 glasses of the good stuff, belvanie. I’m having a jim beam Manhattan now listening to Paul Simon while everyone else is asleep. I’ve had worse nights.

A couple of puffs of Bruce Banner, a couple Oberon's, and some Jameson's on the rocks.
November 7th, 2020 at 7:29 AM ^
Sorry I’m late to the party, or early, but it’s game day!!!! Drinking a Jolly Pumpkin Bam Biere to get the homegate started, then moving to a French Toast Devil Dog by Roak. I’ll be hitting some shiznit and drink a wide array of beers throughout the day. Setting up our yard for an outdoor viewing party on this beautiful fall day.
go blue!!!

It was a Sam Adams night for me. Warm evening, listing to some jazz on our deck with the wifey made for a great night.

November 7th, 2020 at 8:39 AM ^
I am jealous, been looking for Blanton's here in Michigan for the last six months.
November 7th, 2020 at 7:46 AM ^
Even later to the party. Sidecar last night. Coffee at the moment.
HOMEGATE! Gotta love it.
