A lot of people have said it, but being in nature, and specific to me fishing, is my stress relief. I love being in a stream in the middle of nowhere, maybe catching fish but definitely trying. I also enjoy tying flies to try and catch the aforementioned fish. Being focused on tiny details to make a nice looking and fishable fly seems to not let me worry about mundane things. Also as other people have said, my faith life is definitely the number one. Realizing not many things are in my control anyways and choosing to make the best of a situation is the best stress relief there is.

All-Day is delicious, but I am drinking Jesse James Outlaw Bourbon. It's not the greatest, but not bad for 14.09 OTD

05/17/2018 - 8:00pm I think this will be a close

I think this will be a close game. We may have more talent, but what I've come to learn from coaching is that defenses are usually ready to go sooner than the offense. If ND has even a solid defense, they will get some stops and quite possibly some turnovers. Those things will keep the game close. I still think we're the winners of this one because our defense will be even better!

True, veyr possible, but you said it: He shouldn't say it to the media. I can't stand when coaches blame kids, whether they deserve it or not. That absolutely kills your credibility to those same kids who you are trying to, and need to, develop. Take care of that stuff in house

03/02/2018 - 10:37pm I am the Special Teams

I am the Special Teams Coodinator for a high school in Michigan, so I LOVE  to nerd out on Special Teams talk. I honestly think the proposed kickoff rule is good. Kickoffs are one of the most high impact plays in football. Since I love football, I am in favor of rules that protect kids' brains, even if it makes my job harder. The 25 yard line is still not an overly favorable position for the offense. My goal as ST coordinator is to make the opposing offense drive 70 yards or more to score. The odds are much more in my favor if they're average startiong positon their 25 yard line or better.

03/02/2018 - 10:31pm Because the the differnce

Because the the differnce between the 25 yard line and the 50 yard line as a starting position is HUGE. A defense has a much, much higher chance of stopping the offense if they start at the 25.

01/06/2018 - 11:25am There are coverage concepts

There are coverage concepts that allow the corners to take the underneath zones, but a corner doesn't have to, and shouldn't be the only one covering underneath, especially in a zone.  I'd rather have LB's and spindown safeties (generally beter tacklers) to take those underneath and crossing routes. A lot of zone coverages are run knowing that you are probably going to give up completions, but you are going to rally to the receiver and stop him from making a big gain. You are banking on getting pressure on the QB and (in a dominantly man coverage team) giving the QB looks he is not expecting.

01/01/2018 - 9:17am "but come on, he's coaching

"but come on, he's coaching the lions" shouldn't be an excuse for an NFL coach. The Lions have the talent to be better than 9-7. If a coach continually underachieves with talented rosters, he should be gone. I hope he lands on his feet because he's a good man, but I'm tired of watching ho hum Lions

12/17/2017 - 10:05am I really enjoyed the movie,

I really enjoyed the movie, and while not an "ultra fan", I would consider myself pretty well-versed in Star Wars. Those who are saying it is the second worst I think are way off. Last Jedi is way better than any of the prequel trilogies. Some stretches of Last Jedi were forced, but I guess that's to be expected in a 2 1/2 hour long movie. I thought the subtle force pull of the broom at the end of the movie by the little boy was really cool. Nobody in the theater reacted so I didn't know if I imagined it or not

Totally agree. There is an interesting stat that I follow and it's points per possession. In some of those areas where the spread, mile a second offenses play, that can be a better indicator of a defense's overall success compared to the traditional stats. Where I'm at, offenses are, or can be, extremely proficient, but I still throw up in my mouth when we give up more than what I think we should.

12/12/2017 - 8:12pm I am a high school defensive

I am a high school defensive assistant here in Michigan. It is absolutely mind numbing to me how bad Big 12 and Pac 12 defenses are/can be. Granted, there's a BIG, BIG difference between any level of college and the level I coach at, but I have a hard time feeling good about wins when we give up 20 or more. I have always wanted to be a fly on the wall for a Sunday or Monday meeting for some of these staffs.

Fair enough. I probably shouldn't comment too much on the NBA since  I don't follow it much. As a casual fan,  I was kind of annoyed with KD's apparent "if you can't beat em, join em" mentailty, and therefore have a bit of a bias.

Even if  I don't follow the NBA like I used to, I can still appreciate a team that plays like a team and has built depth, as opposed to the Cavs or Warriors who bought their top three or four superstars t

I was one of the people who did not think Peters should play, but I will happily eat crow as far as Saturday goes. The first thing I noticed was how he went through his progression on the first pass he dropped back for. Improved protection was obviously a factor, but the kid looked good. I hope he has a great week of practice and follows up with another solid performance.

10/18/2017 - 8:09pm I've thought about the

I've thought about the complete elimination of kickoffs as well and how it would totally reduce concussions. The only problem turns into when you're down at the end of the game, score to move yourself into striking distance and then: the opposing team just gets the ball at the 20. Eliminating kickoffs ends a lot of games without a team getting a chance to recover an onside and possibly win

10/16/2017 - 8:01pm I have to disagree with you

I have to disagree with you here. I think Fisch leaving had a serious impact on the passing game. Two bad games under Fisch is not the same as 6 under Pep.

If there was a better option at QB, he would be playing. I don't understand how people don't get that.

10/03/2017 - 8:16pm When I was a senior in High

When I was a senior in High School, we won the State Finals in football. On our way to Detroit, we practiced at MSU's indoor facility the day before the game. There was a countdown clock to the Michigan game that a buddy and I found when we were wandering around unsupervised. The clock may have gotten unplugged as we walked by. Those sons a guns had a backup battery for just such occasion!
