Forcier will be tough to dethrone over time......

T. Forcier believes he is the Quarterback for the University of Michigan. And he has a lot of the mixings, background, and proper moxy or swagger to grow and fulfill his scholarship over these 4 years. He is the paradigmatic RichRod Spread QB. If Henne was the ultimate maintainer drop back QB for the Lloyd days, the Forcier is that guy for Rich. Focier is a student and then a student of the game. He is a football player only by association to those two. The one thing you can tell, especially in his Big Ten Network interview was a desire to be a coach and assist maker. But not some brah-jocko type who wants his picture on the cover of any mag. Now if you are the type of Quarterback who relies on body over mind, it is really difficult to compete against a guy like Forcier over the long haul. Forcier does not need touches or reps to be consistent. He is not a guy, to use a basketball analogy who shoots to find his rhythm or spot. He is in rhythm from the minute he is on the court or field. And guys like that are tough to compete with over the long haul. Simply because he engages the game first from a mental way. This is what made Michael Hart. He was not the guy at first. But he came in and was WAY more mentally tough and developed than anyone there in RB dept. There were faster guys in the fold. When you're brother played under Lloyd and you're whole family knows Ann Arbor and the University coupled with the reality that you are ideal for the spread system, the Forcier kid will be tough to dethrone. Now I have not seen Denard throw or play. I hear he is fast though. If I was that young man I would begin memorizing the playbook not only superficially but in a 3D mindset...and I would start today. As far as Devin goes, you are tall, fast and really threw the ball well in your last game against East Grand Rapids. I am looking forwards to seeing you both play for Michigan. But know that playing around a guy like Forcier will only make you better. And vice versa, same goes for Tate.

I liked in his interview yesterday when a reporter asked if he gets nervous, Forcier chuckles and replys, " I don't get nervous.". He's really confident that he is the best at what he does.

Please tell me this isn't for real. Not only do we get the Denard speed reference, but the Tebow-like endorsement of character, intelligence and ability for someone who HAS NEVER PLAYED A COLLEGE GAME. Please stop.

If your comment was sarcastic, then my answer is "dude, the point is that there is a huge difference between saying a freshman QB in his first scrimmage looked promising, vs. anointing him the 4 year starter with superior IQ, leadership skills, will, arm etc, after one spring practice". If it's a real question, he looked accurate, seemed nimble, and considering his just out of HS status did not look overmatched or confused. He looked promising which is hopeful. But that's as far as you can go for a freshman who was not allowed to be hit and has never played.

I like the part where he's the "paradigmatic RichRod Spread QB," despite being unlike any QB that Coach Rod has ever had. I like Tate. He reminds me of Matt Grothe. I'd be happy to have him run the offense for the next 4 years. But he is not White Jesus.

He's the guy who fumbled in the endzone for a safety (which should have been a defensive touchdown) and tried to throw through a linebacker (Herron) and should have been picked. He also went the wrong way on at least 2 running plays. Potential? Yes. Savior? Not yet!

I will just say this: if you people start talking about his "poise" this often, the similarities between him and Claussen will be too much for be to bear.

Holy crap. I mean, I've got high hopes for the kid, but this makes me wanna yak. And if I hear too many more Tate=Jimmah comparisons, I will officially remove myself from his bandwagon.

Yes, he has not played a real game. And he is no savior and he also does not have a god complex. But that is the rallying point. When I saw K. Newsome interviewed and T. Pryor....and a few other QB's...I knew these were not Michigan QB's. YOU JUST KNOW. You don't have to watch a lot of sports to know when something is a good fit. You don't even need to watch sports to know that. This is a good fit. Listen I am the guy who was yelping because Forcier was too small. That's me! But, when something is a good fit, the physics and the interplay of how things should happen changes drastically. The skill set he showed in footwork alone, just footwork was NOT that of a freshman QB at all. His ability on the fade, slant, and dump outs was fine for a kid in his teens. Actually for a kid that age it is fantastic. Listen you have to find things to rally around. And with the skill set he showed yesterday, you have a rallying point. You can be cynical, it is your right. What I listed in terms of reasons as to why this and that were perhaps not exactly perfect. But when something is the right fit, the right alignment, it is tough to define. Were there some things he struggled on? I think yeah, a good many. Down near the goal line his nerves got up on him some. And I think this was because he couldn't see or scramble. Contrary to what some people think or feel, there is a lot at stake here this season. One or two more losing seasons and it could get ugly. I am sure some people would like to see it get ugly this year. I am not one of them. I support the school and then the football team whomever is coaching on the sidelines and coaching on the field. Forcier is the right guy, for now, for that transition to occur.

are you high? No offense. I'm just curious because it seems like you're smoking some really good shit. Nothing in your posts raise a valid point to hang your hat on; your statement boiled down looks something like this: "Forcier is the quintessential RR QB because, you just know." Then you spew a verbal barrage in attempts to explain this gut feeling you have. I think your man-crush for Tate Forcier should be left as an 'indescribable feeling'; be it love, hope, inspiration, whathaveyou...it's of the stuff that inspires poetry and bad Scott Stapp songs. Idea: go ahead and use that good energy and write some Forcier haikus or sonnets and post them. That would be entertaining. But no more trying to rationalize a point when you can't construct a decent argument in support of it. In conclusion: Tate is the FORCIEST! Forcier RULES!!!

anyone have any denard robinson vids on here? I'm now interested to see his reel of tape. I think his playing time will come down to how well he understands blitz packages and zone coverages, in relation to designed Michigan passing plays. This is an end game of sorts for guys like Robinson and D. Gardner. And yes I know Gardner is not on campus yet or neither is the other guy. But it may not matter. To go back a little in time, look at Guiterrez. One shoulder injury and his time at MI was over. And from what I saw yesterday out of number 5, it will be tough to dethrone the kid over time. Because this is a man who will be a backup and not let his ego get to him as he wears the hat on the sideline. Just as if he is throwing TD's he won't let his ego get to him as well. Once this type of kid settles in, these types usually stay playing. You do not need to Tebow that or whatever, you just know some kids are winners. And none of us here are in the media, we are simply observers and comment types. But here's the scenario. You have a 3-9 team and a hopeful fan base. The michigan media was not exactly kind to the staff last year. Now let's say you win 3/4 your first games with number 5 starting. Even if young QB's stats are just average, he is managing wins. This is better than stats and this is the intangible that is needed now more than ever.

Hey, man, you don't talk to Tate. You listen to him. The man's enlarged my mind. He's a poet-warrior in the classic sense. I mean sometimes he'll... uh... well, you'll say "hello" to him, right? And he'll just walk right by you. He won't even notice you. And suddenly he'll grab you, and he'll throw you in a corner, and he'll say, "do you know that 'if' is the middle word in life? If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs and blaming it on you, if you can trust yourself when all men doubt you"... I mean I'm no, I can't... I'm a little man, I'm a little man, he's... he's a great man. I should have been a pair of ragged claws scuttling across floors of silent seas...
