Can't you just tap some random person at the bar (maybe an attractive girl?) and just say "I'm the starting RB, can you give me a ride home so I don't get arrested or kill someone?" How hard can it be?

I hope Thomas Rawls or Vincent Smith can do some serious lead blocking for all of the extra QB designed runs they'll be calling against Alabama (and probably beyond that game as well).

I imagine a first offense will give him a 2-4 game suspension.  Anyway, we'll go on without him, it'll suck, but what else can we do.

... Not sure what the precedent for suspension is.  My guess is he sits out a week of fall camp and doesn't start the Alabama game.  He'll play by the 2nd quarter at the latest.

Uninformed guess, but football-wise this is not the end of the world.  Decision-making-wise, this is pretty disappointing.  Not going to throw stones, because I was once in college too, but disappointing, nonetheless.

Well now the Bama D can just zero in on Denard. Michigan can run fakes all they want to Rawls but Bama won't take them. I have no idea how these kids are this stupid. With the season around the corner and the fact that you could kill yourself or someone else... The only thing I can conclude is that you are just an idiot. There is nothing else I can say. This kid still finds ways to stay off the field.. Even when he isn't hurt.

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Can we pull a Tressel and suspend him for, say, the UMass game as long as he promises to come back to school in the Fall?

This pretty much sucks. And really one of the most important players on the roster since he takes so much pressure off of Denard. Hopefully he takes this more seriously than Stonum seemed to. He worked hard to come back from a series of injuries and it would be a shame to see him lose playing time from legal problems.

I would drive from Rochester NY in the middle of the night to drive him home.  I am sure there are about 230957122351 other people that would do the same damn thing and save me the 400 mile trip.  Dammit Fitz.  Alabama just got 7 more points  in the spred if they got one.

I might be alone on this but I don't think a kid should get a second chance when it comes to drinking and driving.  Im sorry but there is no excuse for it.  Underage drinking is something that will always happen and, if caught, is an offence that deserves a second chance.  But Goddamnit, don't drive if you've been drinking!  Too many innocent people have been killed because of this.

than a lot of people here for a variety of reasons. I don't condone stupidity, though. For the life of me, I can't understand how a player can put himself in that position, especially after having witnessed first-hand what the consequences can be.

Last post on the subject before I go try and flush my head down the toilet....

I would literally call Silas Redd RIGHT NOW and let him know about Fitz's absolutely brilliant extra-curricular activities.

Suspend Fitz for as long as you possibly can....

PFFFT.  Michigan's got its best O-line in years and one of the most dynamic quarterbacks ever to play the game, but it will face Alabama without a single game-breaker at RB and WR.  FML.

Was really hoping to see how he did against Bama. I'm sure Hoke will suspend him for probably 2-3 games, he's legit that way. But it is his first offense so anything more than that would probably be too much.

What an ass-hat move.  When did students start driving somewhere to get drunk? There aren't enough places on campus, so we have to be driving around wasted?
