Eyobi Okie Inside the Play

Submitted by smotheringD on October 5th, 2022 at 8:48 PM

Strikes me as a young man who perhaps made some mistakes but has turned things around and got his head straight right before it was too late.  Rather than squandering his immense talent, it looks like he could be playing on Sundays.

The fact that he came so close to blowing it, and has learned those lessons, might serve him well if / when he starts raking in boatloads of cash.

I'm obviously biased, but I think Michigan was a perfect place for him to resurrect his football career.

Transformational.  The Michigan Difference.

Let's hope he destroys everything in his path on the football field and helps Michigan beat OSU, win the B1G10 championship and the NC.

The dude is a heat seeking QB destroying missile.

Yeah I'm really rooting for him to succeed.  Not only for his personal story but he definitely provides that much needed raw physical speed that we lost when Hutch and Ojabo left.  I hope the playcalling will let him see the field more to make an impact

This young man is going to blow it up in a good way. He has a good head on his shoulders and an understanding of what it takes to be successful. I'm proud to call him a Wolverine. I know we are going to see him destroy future opponents.

Well on his way to turning things around and I hope he can make the most of it.

If he can provide a monster pass rush heading into the latter half of the season, that's Okie Dokie with me!

He’s obviously “ascending”, as Harbaugh likes to say. Question please-does he have another year of eligibility?  Another year of training, coupled with maturation and good behavior could set him up to ba a high draft choice.

Re-posting what I put in the earlier Okie thread. I'm not sure why Brian/Sam/etc. would be confused on this, seems pretty straight forward. He has this year and next year.

He is a RS Jr this season. He was in the 2018 class (with Aiden Hutchinson, Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields)

Per MGoBlue.com

2018 - Played at Alabama (Fr.)

2019 - Redshirted (RS Fr.)

2020 - COVID - Free year (also sat out due to transfer)

2021 - Played at UT Martin (RS So)

2022 - Destroyed Spencer Petras (RS Jr)

2023 - Will destroy more QBs (RS Sr)

The last few plays against Iowa proved he needs to be be on the field one hell of a lot more than he has been.  He has speed from the snap as good as I’ve ever saw. Yeah the kid had some issue, who on here hasn’t! I’m all in on Eyobi Okie.

Hey, All In boy - his name is spelled Eyabi...  LOL!!

His place on the field depends more on learning his role for various run defenses, and maybe some rush stunts, too.  It's a pretty complicated defense that everyone else has two years with.  He seems to be learning at a fast clip, though, so hopefully sooner than later!

Kid reminds me of a young Deion Sanders, the temperament, the fun he shows on his face when he talks about being on the field. Definitely someone to watch. Prediction: he will have an interesting nickname as a pro. 😁

The pieces on D are slowly working themselves into place. I'd love to see a killer rotation up front that terrorizes opposing offenses once the rotation is fully weaponized.

he definitely made a mistake at both Alabama and Houston and has not gone w/o incident at UM.  But the kid has shown a lot of promise, has natural gifts, and could be a real difference maker.
