I know I'm new around here (posting at least) but wasn't it obvious that this was one of the purposes of the satellite camps? Harbaugh & Co. used these camps to build relationships in the areas the camps were held and to get a jump on so-called diamonds in the rough. Every year there are guys who fly up recruiting rankings after camps. We are seeing the results of the coaches getting their eyes on the types of players they want for their schemes.

Some, and some see talent that maxes out in HS and never improves. I can think of several big names that did nothing and more that were mediocre. Can not remember who said it, but they said Harbaugh is the best evaluator of talent, period. I trust in HARBAUGH!

I keep reminding myself that the two things NOBODY questions about Jim Harbaugh are his ability to coach football, and his ability to evaluate talent.  Mental stability, social skills, fashion, balance in life, working and playing well with others, general strangeness level...all legit question marks.  Do I care?  Does he?  A big NO on both counts.

Who do you trust ...JH who's whole life has been high level football ...or star rankings? I know my answer ...

But JH didn't personally evaluate/coach these recent commits at the camps. Doesn't he work with the QB's exclusively? At least that's where he is on every pic or video I've seen from the past week. So he's taking the word of his assistants. Does JH then look at the kids game film and THEN decide to offer a full ride?

It just seems outrageous to offer an unranked/under the radar kid after only seeing him run through cone drills and one on ones in shorts and t-shirts. Anybody can have one good day, right?

That's definitely not what happens. The coaches have a short list of a dozen or so kids they've scouted before the camp who they know are close to earning an offer. How they perform at the camp then weighs into that decision. Some of the kids on the cusp don't perform as well and don't get the offer. Basically the coaches have read the resumes, checked their references and now want to see how they interview (perform).

Two points: First, some poster here had said that Harbaugh won't take commitments during visits, and instead wants the recruits to go home and sleep on it. I don't know if there's any validity to that, but if true we shouldn't expect any more announcements tonight (unless it's from someone not visiting). Second, as long as Harbaugh fills the spots with anyone, I'm happy. Give these boys a redshirt and another year or tWo getting ready, and I'm confident they'll develop into winners.

we have 14 spots left maybe even more with guys likely to for go their 5th year or some guys just wanting to move one. Point is if the Xavier Kellys, Mr Caleb, Mr Gary, Mr Hawkins, of the world still want to come they will and we still will have room

What kid wants to play for a school where the fans don't think they're good enough based on a recruiting service that is known to be off? Don't point out the exceptions, the developmental needs, or even Dantonio comparisons. Trust in your team, trust in your coach, and trust in the young men proud to commit and represent Th e University of Michigan.

While I trust Harbaugh and know he can develop these kids, this wasn't what I (or anyone if they're honest) was expecting.  I expected Harbaugh to land mostly high 4 and 5 star recruits.  I especially expected this camp blitz to produce some big time recruits.

So, while I am thrilled he's getting kids he likes, it's just surprising the kids he likes are 2 and 3 stars.  Not worried about who he gets, although bringing these kids on this early is a little more worrisome.  These last few guys you can get with a phones call iin December or January to fill out your class if you've missed on bigger targets, a little odd to see us taking several players ratedso low this early.
