Beneficiary of UCLA coaching turnover?

Submitted by Cruzcontrol75 on
A crystal ball from a SoCal insider for a Cali WR to Michigan. Kyle Philips Committed to UCLA in April. https://247sports.com/Player/Kyle-Philips-90140 With the coaching carousel already spinning at UCLA, Tennessee, Florida and several more on the way out following this season I'm hoping for some of their recruits to end up in Ann Arbor. Maybe this is the first domino to fall?

I would say Cal and Arizona are sitting pretty to the extent that guys decommit. It will be interesting who gets the coaching job but if UCLA is smart, they keep who they got.

Florida, Tenn, UCLA, maybe ASU, maybe TAMU, etc.

Opens the door to getting a few guys being available who otherwise wouldn't be.

PLUS the rumors of who might be leaving a job can impact recruits - what is Miss State has a guy we want and Mullen is rumored to go to Florida, etc.

We got hurt by the Hoke-is-fired rumors with Mike Weber, etc.

And perhaps I should be negged, but what receiver on earth would want to play for us? We hardly ever throw to receivers, let alone complete passes to them.

There are reasons or not having a lot of WR success this year. First off we don’t have a legit WR coach. Second, the poor play of the offensive line has forced us to use more tight ends, as well as having to max protect on many pass plays. Lastly, max protect forces us to only see 2-3 WR’s going out for routes, which makes it easier to cover them. Injuries, youth, and inexperience are also culprits as well. Being down to your third string Qb doesn’t help either. This is not a system problem, it is a problem that is a direct result to the unfortunate circumstances that have befallen our team in 2017. The 2015 & 2016 teams had solid WR production, which is partly how we were able to land such an epic 2017 WR class. I wouldn’t worry too much about the WR position.

Tell the uninformed so much. People have been saying this shit all year and it’s so stupid to think that our coach is so incompetent that he; forgot to hire a wide receivers coach! Do these idiots think we got DPJ, Nico Collins, Black, Martin, and all the other receivers by not having a wide receivers coach? Blasphemy

You’ve hit on the exact problem with this blog. A bunch of dbags who don’t know anything chime in with their brilliant opinions with no knowledge basis, and all the trolls upvote them. Then the longtime posters get sick of it and stop posting.

They do want to throw to receivers but, our O line is the problem at the moment. The future is bright, especially with Mcafree and Peters here, receivers will want to come. This year has been a Murphy's law situation with injury and inexperience.

Well, maybe if we had more than one returning WR with more than 10 catches last year, the recievers would have caught more passes?  Or, maybe, not have had injuries to the top 3 (Black, Perry, Schoenle), with the 4th guy (Crawford) not panning out, they'd have caught more?  Maybe having more experience on the OL than a couple of freshmen, a soph, and two guys that never saw the field until they were the last available might have led to more completions, also.  Maybe more than a black hole at QB would have helped, too?

But yeah, you just be that guy...

Rashan Gary regrets coming to Michigan over Clemson? Other recruit talk: solve all problems with 4 and 5 Stars. Seems to work for the teams that win the National Title.

“Michigan doesn’t have a WR coach so no one would want to come here...” I am so sick of this hot take. What if I told you that Pep Hamilton is listed as “Pass Game Coordinator/QB/WR coach” and he has been a WR coach for the Stanford Cardinal and New York Jets? What if I told you Scott Turner is an Offensive Analyst and has been a WR Coach for the Cleveland Browns and Pitt Panthers? Hell, we have TWO wide receiver coaches with ALOT of NFL and collegiate experience.
