Congratulations to Donnie Brasco for sort of switching roles with Lefty Ruggerio here - the continued concern trolling has awarded him the opportunity to walk quietly off the set to his....well, it was implied in the movie from which you take your username, but yeah, this shall be your last post.

My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, "If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately." Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- "Don't ever smoke. Please don't put your family through what your Grandfather put us through." I agreed. At 26, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because this post gave me cancer anyway.

Dim-witted commentary.  An obtuse belief in his own cleverness, that alternating "nice" posts with wilting criticims would convince anyone - in this era of Harbaugh optimism - that he's a Michigan fan who's truly disillusioned with the state of the program.  After a 10-3 season and with the current #6 recruiting class.  Committed to his trolling, given the join date.

This poster is dumb and committed in his hate for Michigan, so it's hard to tell if he's a Sparty or Buckeye.  But the fear gives it away.

1, Kids are told the pecking order and to be prepared 2, Long calls Washington and UM, says its UM 3, Washington takes another CB 4, UM notifies Richardson that there will not be room

My opinion, i dont see anything wrong with this...Its recruiting in 2016

This is what I'm seeing as well.  Swenson, Enis, Richardson all falling at the same time means the staff is starting to put it all together.  I have a feeling this is the prelude to a rapid-fire commits from a lot of guys on the wish list.

I hope...

If Long doesn't go Michigan, I'm taking the family to the bomb shelter.

I think going forward Jim should be a little more selective with the camp offers. He was handing them out like candy and many here were saying "Easy Jim, pump the brakes. It's only June." While others were like "Relax. HARBAUGH." The class will look similar in the end either way but one of the two roads is a lot less bumpy with these decommits and possible bridge burning with high schools.

I agree. I'm sure there was something to like about all the lower-ranked guys, but I get the sense that Harbaugh didn't really understand the doors that would be open to him as a result of his past success combined with being at a blue blood program like Michigan. I doubt we'll see anywhere close to this much turmoil going forward

I think you are making some assumptions here.  I don't know what exactly is transpiring behind the scenes and what was communicated to any of the kids when the offers were handed out.

As long as Coach and staff are being honest with the kids when the offer goes out and as long as they continue that honesty throughout the entire recruiting process, then why wouldn't we be OK with it?  That might not be the case and I'm not going to assume it is, but what do we really know about what's happening?

A lot of kids have lost scholarship offers in the past for a multitude of reasons.  On-field, off-field, academic, personal, or medical situations all come to mind.  Why should we assume these kids who recently decommitted don't have a part in the decision making process?

doesn't?  The fact that he released his actual phone number to anyone to call him directly shortly after showing up at Michigan?  The fact that he showed up at a Michigan Ultimate practice and offered football facilities to the students?  The fact that he hasn't checked in on this board post?

Why would he address these concerns when he is working 24/7 trying to pull this class together?

This something you are talking to knows not of what they speak.

Another day another de-commitment. Guess got to trust Harbaugh and staff. This has to be craziest recruitment cycle I've ever seen at Michigan. Harbaugh's madness applies everywhere it seems.

Well, this answers the concerns we had that Harbaugh was loading up on 3-stars last fall; he wasn't planning to keep them.

It's quite possible that Michigan stated up-front to players that they could get "offers" and commit but that there was still competition for their spot. So now, as Michigan is in play for a lot of top guys, word is coming down that the spot is filled by someone else, with certainty.

It's possible. It's still not a good look, and it's possible that things are a bit more cutthroat than that. It's a bit unpleasant for Michigan fans like me who are big on doing things "the right way."

But I don't know what the "right way" necessarily means anymore. Picking a guy early and sticking with him works great for loyalty, but that's what Hoke did. Specifically, that's what Hoke did with Shane Morris. Now, I like Shane, but many of us kool-aid drinkers ignored the massive red flags that were flying around him his senior year in high school, and they've proven to be warnings that should have been heeded.

So my best guess is that Harbaugh gets soft early commits from low-ceiling players he likes to have the security of guys in the class, and then goes for the really coveted guys to see what he can get. He clearly believes that it is ok for the early commits to shop around, and for him to fill the spots they are slated for if he finds someone better; if this is well-understood, I'm ok with this. It's not bad for a kid to be liked by a Super Bowl-caliber coach. If this is not well communicated, I'm less ok with this.

The timing is just awkward. Not sure if anything can be done about it.

Ryan Ermani had a take on the Swenson thing yesterday that I appreciated someone actually saying. That was that he is sick of losing to MSU. He is sick of losing to OSU. And if pulling an offer before signing day from a player who won't help us is going to help us get back to a competitive level with our rivals, then so be it.
