Another Wasted Season

No Big Ten Championship.

No Playoff.

Will this program ever win something?

We are beyond moral victories. This is not MSU. Penn State was ripe for the fucking taking. If you ever want to play with the big boys, you have to steal games like this.

At least our coaches discovered the forward pass!!! It’s sad bc this will give Harbaugh an excuse to be utter shit yet again.

it’s in Michigan’s DNA to be unclutch.

Year 5 of Harbaugh and NO MEANINGFUL road wins - that says it all!

Please do not include beating a 7-6 ped state or a 3-9 or 7-6 staee team as MEANINGFUL road wins - those are wins against a mediocre or bad opponent!

I wish I was as confident about that as you, lol. It'll be good for us that we don't have to play in Beaver Stadium, but that's about the only positive I can find. Unless our line figures out how to block someone we won't score enough to beat PSU or you guys.

What a bunch of terrible takes. I'm embarrassed for all of you. We played a great game, and were a couple penalties away from 450 yards, and a couple more drops away from 500, on a pretty good defense. And there's no way you can put this game on Harbaugh. MAYBE on the receivers as a group, though they came up huge at other times. But, most definitely on the officiating.

I hate the loss, but this is the happiest I've been with the team in ages. Can't wait for Notre Dame. Go Blue!

THIS IS WHAT OUR FAN BASE HAS BECOME?? screw you dude. Happy about a loss. I’ll applaud the effort. Never knock a kid who plays as hard as most did tonight. Who will I knock.,..this dumb coaching staff. JH/DB should be ashamed of themselves. They lost this game with dumbness and stubbornness.

Thank you.  Michigan “fans” with this knee jerk reaction after THAT game, should be ashamed of themselves.  Considering the refs and the environment, aside from 3 or 4 plays I’m not sure we could’ve played much better. Please go find a different school to root for.  Please!  These kids shouldn’t have to deal with such idiocy.

I don’t think you can blame officiating when they had more penalty yards than us, but the timing of the penalties was the issue.

When losing to someone brings you the most joy in ages, it just shows how disappointing things have been for a long time. Penn State beat Pitt by 7 and Iowa by 5. They’re undefeated but hardly a juggernaut. If we just went toe to toe with Alabama or Clemson, I might share your happiness, but it was freaking penn state.

I’m proud of the way the team fought, but they should have won the game and anything less is disappointing.

The problem with your point is that it's based on no standards. If Michigan loses to ND next week, you won't be saying, "Welp, I guess I was wrong, Michigan under Harbaugh is still a far way away from ever doing anything of note." You'll say something like "if just a couple of things had gone differently, Michigan would have won, so the loss is actually an example of Michigan being good." Then you'll say the same thing if they lose to MSU and you'll say the same thing when they lose to OSU. And you'll call everyone who actually wants the team to win bad fans with no perspective. "They were so close to 10-2 guys. Who cares if they went 8-4/7-5, they played hard. That's all I care about."

The play calling once we had 1st and goal at the fucking 7 was disgusting.

We had a 1 on 1 with Nico on first down and what do we do? Run a fucking draw of course. Do we make adjustments in case we get that matchup again? Nope. In fact, on the 4th down, the PSU defense was so scared of the fade to Nico that they doubled teamed him. The safety literally ran full speed towards the back of the end zone to his side as the CB jammed him.

So...there was 4 minutes to play and we had a first and goal from the god damn 7. And what do we do? Run clock like scoring is a foregone conclusion! Don’t take advantage of our 6-5 receiver against their 5-10 CB. No. Let’s run the god damn ball. If I could cancel my fucking flight for next week and get a refund I would.

Here’s the thing, you don’t have to be a D1 OC to realize that we should be taking advantage of our mismatches. Clearly Penn States DC thought it was a big enough mismatch to sprint the only safety to Nicos side in an attempt to double team him on 4th down.

It doesn’t take a genius to realize that 6’-5” guys with 40” verticals usually beat 5’-10” guys with 35” verticals for jump balls. Also, clock and game management would’ve greatly benefited from trying this on first down instead of setting 40 seconds of game time on fire with a worthless draw play.

Moral victories, eh, not of much value. But it's still even worse to fold up like a lawn chair which is exactly what this team did against Wisconsin, Florida, even OSU etc. Counts for something but not enough.

I still think a win over OSU would be a bit more than a moral victory given the recent domination.

It's disappointing but it's been pretty apparent since 2017 that this program wasn't really on a championship trajectory.
