Dunno about Tempe--though I hear the water question looms large. Was in Tuscaloosa for the first time in 15 years with my kid for a soccer camp two weeks ago and was astonished how much that town is transformed. The downtown was full of life on a July weekend, and the city has mushroomed, as well as the campus, which I didn't remember being nice at all. A lot of it tacky growth, I'd be the first to assert. But it's amazing how much impact football can have on a city, a university, and town.

That helps to distinguish the bama offering.  Is it one of the 250+ offers by alabama to the top 250+ ranked players, or is it one of the real 30+ offers?  btw, how the hell do they get away with signing 25+ player classes every year?  Do they not make the football cut?  Can they not read? (ok, maybe this)

From what I've read, the SEC schools offer one year scholarships, whereas the other major conferences offer 4 years guaranteed. That way, a junior at Alabama who has not cracked the two-deep gets a handshake and is shown the door.

More informed readers should correct me, but I believe that was a discussion a few years ago related to Tennessee signing 25+ every year.

Well, Nick is a couple months away from 70. Maybe he will retire sooner as opposed to later and...you know, Alabama has struggled with football coaching hires too.

Macdonald surely appreciates and covets the talent that this young man holds.

Do you really?

I mean, what requires more thought than, "I'll be on a great team, a great coach, other great players, play for the national championship every year, and I won't have to shovel snow!"

Sounds pretty thoughtful to me. That is, unless more thought means, "I'ma go to Michigan cuz MgoBlog fans want me to"
