Tom, Justice is trying to scoop you. He said one more plans on committing.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:29 PM ^
man i think Justice Hayes is taking your job lol. dude you're doing a great job your keeping me sane.
January 23rd, 2011 at 3:19 PM ^
Just curious could we have Hayes in again next weekend, say for an unofficial visit? I'm sure we can find a place for him to stay. We need to get Hayes in Raven's ear because he'd be huge for this class IMO.

January 23rd, 2011 at 3:08 PM ^
He could also be referring to Bryant and Clark as stated above. Getting those 4 would be awesome but I'm hoping we also pull in someone like Heyward. We could use a DT for depth.
January 23rd, 2011 at 3:28 PM ^
Tom, you do a great job and you're consistently bringing us grade A information on a daily basis, for that we all love you; +1!
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:14 PM ^
Both are high 4 stars, very intriguiging prospects who we were able to invite last minute.
Just speaking from the heart, if we got neither I will be dissapointed in this weekend. Getting 1 of those 2 would be good enough for me.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:18 PM ^
I agree. Hoke needs 1 or 2 four-stars to make this period a real success. M can land three-stars pretty easily. That's no great accomplishment.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:22 PM ^
I disagree. With Hoke's short timetable for recruiting, reaffirming commits and gaining a couple of kids is a real success.
Don't discount the work the staff has done thus far. I'm thoroughly impressed and optimistic that it will only get better as we get closer to signing day.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:44 PM ^
They haven't (yet) reaffirmed either Fisher or Countess, who are arguably the two top guys. The other kids, including Kellen, never really seem interested in leaving. So, if Hoke loses both Fisher and Countess -- and doesn't land any other top-tier recruits -- it will be a net loss. Wouldn't be Hoke's fault. But it wouldn't be anything to celebrate.
January 23rd, 2011 at 2:16 PM ^
to hear frank yell "Countess" many times in the next 5 years.
January 23rd, 2011 at 3:21 PM ^
Agreed. We needed DB depth, Hoke seems to be doing a good job there. Obviously if you cut Justice Hayes open he'd bleed blue, but still, Hoke didn't lose him. He also got us a pretty good kicker out of nowhere and is working on some other prospects too.
Honestly there's not much else we can ask him to do with his short time. He's been working hard and it's showing.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:27 PM ^
although it would be great if we secured both of their commitments, if we get one of the two I would be happy. And of those two, I'd rather have Willingham only because LB is a bigger need and we have a few db's already committed.

first real weekend at Michigan, the vibe is better than we ever had with RR.
I mean, I remember RR as being all over the Pryor recruitment......even then, it felt bad when TP (I love that as a nickname for him) was making him grovel.

I think he was talking about this in terms of recruiting weekends - not starts to seasons that ended really poorly.

January 23rd, 2011 at 1:44 PM ^
Bottom line is this has been a good weekend for UM so far. Let's enjoy it, instead of bickering about nothing.
January 23rd, 2011 at 2:44 PM ^
It was a very radiant weekend.
January 23rd, 2011 at 3:21 PM ^
When waiting to hear if recruits are planning to commit, 20 minutes seems like 40 years
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:52 PM ^
Well, the weekend's results haven't come through yet. The 2/1 recruiting weekend in '08 was pretty impressive for RR - Barnum, Demens, Feagin, Khoury, Dann O'Neill, Odoms, Roundtree - say what you will about what happened with Feagin and the fact that O'Neill didn't stay...that's a pretty good weekend.
12/4/09 was a nice get for RR, too - that was Ricardo Miller's visit weekend. Austin White, the Talbotts, Avery, Jerald Robinson, Pace, Miller, Jeremy Jackson.
I'll give you that - those were nice weekends. So far, we've got 4 commits from this weekend. Let's see what else we got.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:27 PM ^
forgot your /s
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:36 PM ^
RR set us with most of these guys already. Just because they are not talked about a lot does not mean many were not already recruited. Some have already re confirmed.

Tim tweeted yesterday that Mattison was talking with Willingham during half-time of the basketball game. If Mattison is a legend I suspect he sealed the deal.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:44 PM ^
We can get a play by play comparison of the Mattison hand-over-shoulder approach compared to the GERG choke? Might provide some insight as to how our 4-3 will operate.
January 23rd, 2011 at 3:51 PM ^
Nah Mattison is taking the Hoke approach and "touching" the recruits, not choking them.

I felt the weekend was productive! We got 3 commits. And one more who plans on committing! I'm so excited #goblue
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:28 PM ^
we get more than just one more from this weekend, would love to have both McClure and Willingham.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:29 PM ^
That could be Rawls, too - based on previous comments.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:32 PM ^
I think it was someone who visited
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:36 PM ^
How likely is it that we land 2 of 'em? More?
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:48 PM ^
I think it's likely we get Clark and Willingham. McClure's a wild card, but I think we've got a good shot with him
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:53 PM ^
If calling that "sexy" is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:59 PM ^
else is in serious contention for McClure?
January 23rd, 2011 at 3:07 PM ^
i totally disagree...
i think its mcclure who is most likely because hoke has been recruiting him for TWO years.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:27 PM ^
Likely Clark, but can hope for the other 2 four stars.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:29 PM ^
McClure.

SWiltfong247 - "Michigan, USC and Washington are still making a run at PSU commit Ryan Nowicki, according to the Arizona lineman."
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:47 PM ^
He got offered about a week ago, looks like we're putting the full court press on him. Wonder what this says about Fisher..
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:54 PM ^
2 Tackles. Flavin might be the 3rd option if we don't get these two.
My guess is, the key will be whether we can get Nowicki on campus next weekend.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:56 PM ^
Fisher got his Florida offer. I think this was recent. Oregon too. I think when he initially scheduled those visits, he didn't have an offer from either.
January 23rd, 2011 at 1:59 PM ^
is the leader for Poole, right?
January 23rd, 2011 at 2:04 PM ^
... He just took his offical visit. I thought the michigan visit was supposed to be on the 28th, but i could be wrong
January 23rd, 2011 at 2:02 PM ^
Animated smileys? Feels like RCMB all of a sudden.
January 23rd, 2011 at 2:03 PM ^
On post 3, that was a UM visit, as in Miami. Got to click the link to see it.
January 23rd, 2011 at 2:05 PM ^
I just saw UM, i guess ill take that laugh back now,
