I know BH doesn't have a great deal of HC experience but compared to LM that might not be such a bad thing...a whole lot of up side if he pans out and young enough to be the HC for almost a solid decade more than LM can for us right now.

at recruiting. He has also proven that he can win in the best conference in America. Brady Hoke might very well come here and be great, but I think we should do everything we can to get LM. It's safer in bigtime game decisions and a hell of alot safer in the recruiting world. My 2 cents.

Bring on Miles! I'd rather have someone fascinating than someone boring, predictable and stable. With all that went on the past three years, we wouldn't know what to with 'stable' anyway. We all crave drama and we'll get it with Les Miles.

What about Miles as HC and Hoke as DC and assistant HC?  Best of both worlds:  a known quantity at HC to stabilize the program in the short term and a potential heir (with a trial period) in the long term.  If Hoke loves the program as much as has been reported and DB is willing to pay top dollar as indicated (including, presumably, for coordinators), it seems like this arrangement could appeal to Hoke.

I know much was made of Rich Rogel's plane being in Baton Rouge, which I didn't think was such a big deal- refueling, probably.  But then I read that apparently at least the new DC at MSU (NTMSU) was in Baton Rouge doing some recruiting today.

Does anyone know if Mullen was in Baton Rouge as well?  Could there have been a meeting in Baton Rouge with Mullen?

Okay, so I will post this, but I am pretty sure I need to stop thinking before my wall is plastered with articles a la Beautiful Mind- except instead of being a genius I'm just an obsessed football fan putting off going to a party to check MGoBlog.

Les Miles:

Proven winner in the "Best" conference.

Proven winner against Ohio State

Proven recruiter... And with the Big 10 regulations also a fair recruiter.

"Michigan Man" so no chance of Alumni haters

Can easily maintain Denard's skill level.

Go Blue!

I am envious of their size and athleticism up front, both sides of the ball. The guy just wins and brings in hoss athletes. He knows that the 4 and 5 star beef eaters are the key and doesn't seem to glued to how people perceive him as a tactician. He owns Louisiana by virtue of his being coach at THE University there, but still he is in the toughest regular conference rotation in the NCAA.

If we got 5 kick ass hungry like a rookie years out of him and 5 cruise control winding down years, I'd take that. He cares enough about this place to set up a proper line of succession too.

Hiring him would start the buzz around the program big time. He has national cache and people would know we mean business.

Is there hair on him? Yeah.  But the upside way outweighs the downside. Unless the downside is just too hairy to allow for the negative PR of bringing him in?

I'm not sure it's all that bad.  I know that I would try to keep it under wraps from my current employer if I had been contacted about another job until I was absolutely sure I was going.

Of course, I might let them know if I was using it as leverage.

I'm trusting that DB is working on this.  It's no secret his legacy is at stake here.

Also, FWIW, I'm a newbie...be gentle.

...that's actually a way around admitting something...when an independent firm is being used....they contact all people UM is interested in but those receiving the calls can say "UM hasn't contacted me".....but you never hear those same coaches say "no one representing UM has contacted me"....the firm does all the work......I learned that in "Bill Clinton 101"

Sideline interview.... Miles just told reporters that even if he HAD heard from Michigan, he wouldn't leave LSU. He said this DURING THE BOWL GAME, so take it fwiw.
