Hey what's the "Lloyd Carr is sick business" snoopblue referred to?
January 7th, 2011 at 9:36 PM ^
LC has parkinsons disease and LM allegedly tried to use his knowledge of LC's condition when they were competing for recruits.
January 7th, 2011 at 9:40 PM ^
Thanks, I didn't know that. Very sad.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:04 PM ^
Has it actually been confirmed that Lloyd has Parkinson's? We know he had (has?) some kind of health issue but I don't know if specifics were ever offered.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:45 PM ^
It's mentioned on MGoBlog a lot but where's the link? Until then, it's just Internet Urban Legend.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:04 PM ^
You'll never find something like that reported in the press.
January 8th, 2011 at 2:37 AM ^
Well, I'm glad to hear it might not be true.
January 8th, 2011 at 1:45 PM ^
Allegedly!
January 7th, 2011 at 9:08 PM ^
This 'chat' is pure genius... made me lulz many times!
January 7th, 2011 at 9:09 PM ^
January 7th, 2011 at 9:25 PM ^
No (as far as I know). The link Brodie posted in another thread was from Dec. 6.
January 7th, 2011 at 9:09 PM ^
I know BH doesn't have a great deal of HC experience but compared to LM that might not be such a bad thing...a whole lot of up side if he pans out and young enough to be the HC for almost a solid decade more than LM can for us right now.
January 7th, 2011 at 9:27 PM ^
Also a whole lot of downside if we lose many of our recruits and current players by hiring an unkonwn guy with an overall losing record in crappy conferences.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:12 PM ^
at recruiting. He has also proven that he can win in the best conference in America. Brady Hoke might very well come here and be great, but I think we should do everything we can to get LM. It's safer in bigtime game decisions and a hell of alot safer in the recruiting world. My 2 cents.
January 7th, 2011 at 9:11 PM ^
Upside-Down :)
....at least for a few minutes.
January 7th, 2011 at 9:18 PM ^
I google searched Moeller' wife.
January 7th, 2011 at 9:21 PM ^
And?
January 7th, 2011 at 10:28 PM ^
Was SafeSearch on or off? That's the important question.
January 7th, 2011 at 9:26 PM ^
Bring on Miles! I'd rather have someone fascinating than someone boring, predictable and stable. With all that went on the past three years, we wouldn't know what to with 'stable' anyway. We all crave drama and we'll get it with Les Miles.
January 7th, 2011 at 9:27 PM ^
to verify any potential hotness.
January 7th, 2011 at 9:33 PM ^
What about Miles as HC and Hoke as DC and assistant HC? Best of both worlds: a known quantity at HC to stabilize the program in the short term and a potential heir (with a trial period) in the long term. If Hoke loves the program as much as has been reported and DB is willing to pay top dollar as indicated (including, presumably, for coordinators), it seems like this arrangement could appeal to Hoke.
January 7th, 2011 at 9:40 PM ^
You know, I had just been thinking of this possibility... Maybe like a "Coach in Waiting"?
January 7th, 2011 at 9:57 PM ^
We need Ws before we start worrying about coaches in waiting...GO BLUE!
January 7th, 2011 at 10:57 PM ^
We need a coach before we worry about a coach in waiting.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:54 PM ^
That's what we need now, some out of the box thinking. Like someone who mentioned earlier that maybe we should go with Denard as a player/coach.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:59 PM ^
Hoke is only about 5 years younger than Miles. Making him HC in waiting would make no damn sense for a variety of reasons, but that's a big one right there.
January 7th, 2011 at 9:30 PM ^
Just don't bring Gary Crowton. That guy is GERG with worse hair and no Super Bowl rings.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:03 PM ^
But please bring John Chavis
January 7th, 2011 at 9:41 PM ^
Hoke is a much-dreaded thing
January 7th, 2011 at 9:48 PM ^
I know much was made of Rich Rogel's plane being in Baton Rouge, which I didn't think was such a big deal- refueling, probably. But then I read that apparently at least the new DC at MSU (NTMSU) was in Baton Rouge doing some recruiting today.
Does anyone know if Mullen was in Baton Rouge as well? Could there have been a meeting in Baton Rouge with Mullen?
Okay, so I will post this, but I am pretty sure I need to stop thinking before my wall is plastered with articles a la Beautiful Mind- except instead of being a genius I'm just an obsessed football fan putting off going to a party to check MGoBlog.
January 7th, 2011 at 9:51 PM ^
Les Miles:
Proven winner in the "Best" conference.
Proven winner against Ohio State
Proven recruiter... And with the Big 10 regulations also a fair recruiter.
"Michigan Man" so no chance of Alumni haters
Can easily maintain Denard's skill level.
Go Blue!
January 7th, 2011 at 10:23 PM ^
Also has a national tittle ring and might be the only person left that could possibly out recruit Tressel in Ohio.
I can't believe we have become this desperate...
January 8th, 2011 at 12:06 AM ^
He has a tittle ring?
January 7th, 2011 at 10:58 PM ^
He will not represent the University of Michigan well. He would tarnish the "brand", you know.
Every time he goes to speak, you cringe inside a little bit.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:00 PM ^
A quick MSM lesson for you.
Cringeworthy statements + too many losses = pariah
Cringeworthy statements + enough wins = colorful
If he wins, the media won't hammer every stupid thing that comes out of his mouth.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:14 PM ^
Les win against OSU in the BCS. Remember, once upon a time tOSU hired the legendary John Cooper who was, at the time, 1-0 against Michigan.
January 8th, 2011 at 5:37 AM ^
Les Miles: Proven fuckstick
Proven cheater
Proven shithead
proven oversigner
Proven calling out players for his mistakes
Proven asshole
January 7th, 2011 at 9:54 PM ^
I am envious of their size and athleticism up front, both sides of the ball. The guy just wins and brings in hoss athletes. He knows that the 4 and 5 star beef eaters are the key and doesn't seem to glued to how people perceive him as a tactician. He owns Louisiana by virtue of his being coach at THE University there, but still he is in the toughest regular conference rotation in the NCAA.
If we got 5 kick ass hungry like a rookie years out of him and 5 cruise control winding down years, I'd take that. He cares enough about this place to set up a proper line of succession too.
Hiring him would start the buzz around the program big time. He has national cache and people would know we mean business.
Is there hair on him? Yeah. But the upside way outweighs the downside. Unless the downside is just too hairy to allow for the negative PR of bringing him in?
January 7th, 2011 at 9:54 PM ^
this is absolutely hilarious. it's nice to laugh amidst all the uncertainty and turmoil.
January 8th, 2011 at 12:00 AM ^
Stay tough Blue...stay tough.
January 7th, 2011 at 9:55 PM ^
As for both myself and bgraham54(via twitter) we want Les Miles to coach the maize and blue. And the sooner the better.
January 7th, 2011 at 9:58 PM ^
It is really starting to piss me off that every person says they haven't been contacted by Michigan. WHO THE F$$% are we contacting then.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:13 PM ^
agents.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:15 PM ^
I'm not sure it's all that bad. I know that I would try to keep it under wraps from my current employer if I had been contacted about another job until I was absolutely sure I was going.
Of course, I might let them know if I was using it as leverage.
I'm trusting that DB is working on this. It's no secret his legacy is at stake here.
Also, FWIW, I'm a newbie...be gentle.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:43 PM ^
January 7th, 2011 at 11:45 PM ^
...that's actually a way around admitting something...when an independent firm is being used....they contact all people UM is interested in but those receiving the calls can say "UM hasn't contacted me".....but you never hear those same coaches say "no one representing UM has contacted me"....the firm does all the work......I learned that in "Bill Clinton 101"
January 7th, 2011 at 9:57 PM ^
We have field turf, what would he eat?
January 7th, 2011 at 9:59 PM ^
Sideline interview.... Miles just told reporters that even if he HAD heard from Michigan, he wouldn't leave LSU. He said this DURING THE BOWL GAME, so take it fwiw.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:17 PM ^
Because a Coach is going to totally tell a Fox reporter he's going to leave DURING the bowl game. HE'S COMPLETELY OUT OF THE PICTURE.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:25 PM ^
I did say to take it FWIW during the bowl game. It's mostly my wishful thinking that he is telling the truth. I'm with Brian on the Les Miles coin flip.
