It wasn't a difficult decision for him - we never offered.

John Lynch has a ways to go in the reporting biz.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:18 PM ^
Does anyone else find it ironic that the same people who accuse Michigan of having a whiny, entitled fan base for being unhappy with a coach who went 3-9, 5-7 and 7-6 over the last three years are now saying that a coach who when 8-5, 9-4 and (soon) 11-2 in the SEC during that same period is UNACCEPTABLE!!!
Just me?
January 7th, 2011 at 10:20 PM ^
I don't think their objections are based on his record.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:43 PM ^
Yeah......
I don't think the record is what they have issues with.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:02 PM ^
it would be a no-brainer.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:41 PM ^
...Miles for miles and miles...recruits would flock to Michigan with LM there......if Hoke was with us....recruits would be like "who's their coach again??"
January 7th, 2011 at 10:20 PM ^
This day just gets worse and worse.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:20 PM ^
do you think DB would go after M. Stoops? Wasn't the jet in Arizona at one time this week?
January 7th, 2011 at 10:36 PM ^
Has a worse record than Brady Hoke.
At least he's coaching in a BCS conference and played in the Big Ten.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:39 PM ^
Offense tonight, and it's beginning to help.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:44 PM ^
ok the video didnt work for me..anyone know how I can fix it
January 7th, 2011 at 10:47 PM ^
Why not make a pitch for him. Shit he's 55. Midwest ties. NFL coach with a ring to show the recruits. Just saying. Defensive minded coach!
January 7th, 2011 at 11:33 PM ^
January 7th, 2011 at 10:47 PM ^
OK, yes LSU has a ton of talent and depth.
But, this team just looks well coached. Denard would kick ass in this offense.
I know he is far from ideal.
But, DB - go get that armored car that was en route to Palo Alto and tell the driver to head due south and look for a man with a goofy while hat.
January 7th, 2011 at 10:49 PM ^
maybe Lloyd should just put the head set back on!!
Jk of course.
Hail

...irony can be very ironic sometimes
January 7th, 2011 at 11:09 PM ^
it still has it if you like to the right side of the screen in the box. It has a time line and for 2011 it has Michigan.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:09 PM ^
by hiring Hoke that the UM contingent would be pissed unless he gets some big time assistants to come with him including an o coordinator that is spread friendly (similar to LSU's offense/power/spread). In that scenario it would appease a lot of people, get people excited, help with transfers, and be the best of all worlds with a Michigan Man coach and new blood with the coordinators.
I wonder if that is what is happening right now. DB goes to Hoke and says sell me by letting me know your coaches so I don't get slaughtered when I hire you.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:22 PM ^
I don't care if Brady Hoke has Jesus H Christ as his OC and Mike Fucking Ditka as DC, I will still be pissed something fierce.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:38 PM ^
...JC runs a wicked spread option.....plus we would have divine intervention in front of Denard ...and if we had Mike Effin Ditka....teams would not show up...he's like Chuck Norris' evil twin.....only more evil and tough.

its not over yet - but it is looking pretty bad - is this where we stand
harbaugh - out
patterson - looks out based upon his comments
fitzgerald - out
dungy - sounds out
peterson - alledgedly looking at stanford
miles - not contacted yet, mysterious history with moeller family
hoke - probably would run here for minimum wage
dream/other candidates - gruden, stoops, mullen, chip kelly, etc. - no word
January 7th, 2011 at 11:32 PM ^
Of all the "other" candidates, the one that is most intriguing to me is Chucky. His silence during this search is deafening, and has me curious as to why he isn't being his usual, gregarious, and vocal self about the situation.
There is apparently someone else in the blogosphere who feels the same way, and points out that Gruden is in AZ (where Brandon may or may not be, according to flight logs) to do radio coverage of the title game for ESPN radio. Gruden also called Michigan his "dream job" in an early ESPN Magazine interview:
http://www.thepigskinguru.com/2011/01/jon-gruden-to-michigan-part-2-he-…
Anyway, we don't really know much, and we're all guessing, but I'm not ruling him out.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:36 PM ^
...Gruden in a second.....mili-second even,,,
January 8th, 2011 at 12:19 AM ^
This should be front page. I thought Gruden was a pipe dream. Why would he say Michigan is his dream job. I'd love to see the original quote in context. Anyone know what he said in ESPN magazine?

The track record of NFL coaches in d1 is terrible. It's a completely different skill set.
January 8th, 2011 at 1:31 PM ^
He's a "candidate" only because a couple guys in chat-rooms declared him a candidate. There's no other indication of same.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:20 PM ^
we should give Troy Calhoun a look.
January 7th, 2011 at 11:26 PM ^
I'm just shocked LSUFreek found a picture of Hoke where he isn't pointing...
January 7th, 2011 at 11:49 PM ^
If he knew how to manage the clock, pronounce arkansas correctly and to stop eating grass, he would be the hottest prospect in America.
Its too bad Stanford didnt play a better team in the Orange Bowl, I would have liked to have seen how they did. They should have put UConn against VA Tech and Oklahoma against Stanford.
January 8th, 2011 at 12:21 AM ^
I think Les Miles's mild retardation makes him even more likeable.
January 8th, 2011 at 2:27 AM ^
stop laughing
January 8th, 2011 at 12:54 AM ^
and they are staying in Louisiana.
The wife wanted to leave before, but now that the kids are in high school, they all want to stay put.
Les has banked and invested his cash well over the years and money isn't an issue for him.
LSU should be better as a team this year (2011) than they were this past year (2010) -- and they looked pretty strong tonight.
Les is staying put.
Next, please.
January 8th, 2011 at 1:41 AM ^
Where are you hearing this from?
January 8th, 2011 at 2:17 AM ^
I received an e-mail this morning from someone with ties to LSU assistant coaches. That's what they were telling him - the family voted to stay put and not be uprooted.
That was well before the game. There is obviously a chance that the AA gig is too good to pass up and they change their minds - we will know soon enough. Only God knows what they are thinking now.

Freek always has the final word on everything.
Sometimes I just look back over edsbs archives to check out old work.
