Based on how you choose to…

Based on how you chose to use the word "reacquire", I think the big difference in opinion is based on what happened before Wilson reached the end zone. You and a bunch of other Buckeye fans are under the delusion that Wilson didn't have possession of the ball the whole time that he ran from the 4 yard line to the end zone.

The ball was in Wilson's hands the entire time, it never jiggles, the Buckeye player had both hands off the ball at one point in time during the run before reaching a second time, Wilson had established possession, he runs FOUR YARDS with it, and it's a touchdown when he crosses the line. It's that simple.

They called the one on the…

They called the one on the PSU punt return, but that was so far out in the open and for so long (he was tugging on Kolesar the whole way across the field) that the refs couldn't ignore it.

The person who ran the old…

The person who ran the old website is no longer participating, and attempts by new team members to revive it have not yet succeeded.

Yes, this. If you were…

Yes, this. If you were really paying attention, you could tell that they were intentionally trying to make it happen. They started the song as Michigan was teeing up to kick off after a touchdown, and they always cut music right as play starts. I noticed that and was waiting for the crowd to take it from there. They didn't disappoint.

Thank you. I'm listening to…

Thank you. I'm listening to that segment now and was wondering how that got overlooked. Glad somebody else remembers.

Seth,

I think you're…

Seth,

I think you're missing a key part of the rule when you keep saying that Martinez was past the line of scrimmage on that 4th quarter pass. Everything I've seen about that rule states that the thrower must be entirely beyond the line of scrimmage for it to be illegal. Sure, the leading part of his body does cross, but he has plenty behind the line still when he lets go.

I'm assuming he's the player…

I'm assuming he's the player most affected by the "they're attributing much of Michigan's success to WMU dorfs" factor.

I see the action at the top…

I see the action at the top of the screen, but there still seems like there's something suboptimal going on if the correct read on an RPO results in a run up the middle when there's more defenders in the box than blockers.

Formation Notes

You should call that one goal line formation Wing T.

Maybe he got tired of beating a dead horse? While

Maybe he got tired of beating a dead horse? While his points are valid, what can he possibly say that we haven't heard ad museum already?

Calling him a sniper may be a tad generous

But that doesn't mean he wouldn't be a vast improvement over the collection of bricklayers the Hoosiers have on their roster now.

Like it

There was no way they were stopping Hyde in OT. Try for the win there and keep it out of his hands.

RE: 2003

I was a student for that game. Yes, that cheer happened. Houston was capable of scoring points on Michigan's defense.

All these ideas...

And not a single mention of Naked Guy yet?

For people with a kenpom subscription

This is amusing.

I may be in the minority here,

but I hope that doesn't happen. Don't get me wrong, I love KenPom's system as a method of evaluating the true strength of teams (won my tournament pool last year by picking the team ranked higher in KenPom to win), but I think the attributes he uses to rate teams differ from what the selection committee should use to determine tournament-worthiness. The committee should be evaluating teams based on who they played, where they played them, and who they beat, not the per-possession efficiency of a team.

I know, right

I swear I saw a tear in Morgan's replacement jersey as well. Thought they might run out of extras.

Are tickets already available

Are tickets already available for these games? If so, I bet a ton of Spartan fans have already purchased them in anticipation of MIchigan State playing there. I'm sure their favorite pastime (cheering against Michigan) would be a perfectly acceptable consolation prize.

That isn't what Dave asks.

That isn't what Dave asks.

He's only "blocking Hopkins"

He's only "blocking Hopkins" in a sense that, once Hopkins hits him, they're engaged and there's no way of him getting out to another defender. Hopkins could have avoided right off the bat, but chose not to.

So you're saying it's

So you're saying it's possible that Michigan was spending a blocker on a guy who was ignoring the running back in an effort to  contain Denard when there was no chance that Robinson would keep it? That's even better!

And they just got swept by

And they just got swept by the Royals.

I don't think that's the

I don't think that's the point is to dismiss Paterno's accomplishments as much as the arrogance that accompanied it. The whole Grand Experiment idea reeks of the belief that they were the only program to do this. Eliminating Penn State would've reduced the number of opportunities, but it wouldn't have eliminated all of them.

I'd love to have you say that

I'd love to have you say that to a current or former player and see what their reaction is.

It's not a true home game,

It's not a true home game, but to treat this as the same thing as the trips to Oregon or Washington is disingenuous as well, as Michigan is giving up a home simply because Jerry Jones was willing to give the athletic department a huge amount of money.

because the game is not a

because the game is not a typical road game

BECAUSE IT'S A HOME GAME THAT YOU SOLD FOR $4.7 MILLION! STOP MAKING IT SOUND LIKE IT'S A ROAD GAME OR BOWL GAME.

ND fans are delusional?

You don't say.

I'm sure there will be a

I'm sure there will be a legal challenge and I'll be interested to see how it turns out, but I'm pretty sure the NFL is going to argue that this is about the way the contracts are structured, not the amount they are for. There was no collusion to curb spending that year, but  Dallas and Washington treated it as a loophole to circumvent any future cap.

They normally try to place

They normally try to place the #1 seeds in the regional closest to their campus, with overall #1 getting placed first and overall #4 getting what's left at the end (unless one of them is a host). From there, they generally try to maintain bracket integrity (overall #1 with #8, #9, and #16, etc.) as best they can while following the rules that:

  • Host teams must be placed in their home regional.
  • Avoid interconference matchups in the first round.

Given those statements, I kinda sorta disagree with mfan's belief that they'd put Michigan in St. Paul. I think they'd place Michigan in Green Bay since it's closer. That would then allow them to place Duluth in St. Paul, which is a much shorter trip for their fan base.

I imagine it means that they

I imagine it means that they were given an ultimatum of sorts. Something along the lines of "Commit or we're moving on to the next guy."

How the fuck did Nebraska win

How the fuck did Nebraska win three conference games?

His standings are correct

He's been using that format, which accounts for the difference in games played, for a while now.

It's called "all the other

It's called "all the other games they played this season." They often have they ability to outweigh the results of a single weekend. We've spent considerable effort on this site trying to explain that to Michigan State fans lately.

Minor correction

Wisconsin did make a return trip to Arizona. It was a mess of a game played in a downpour with a significant lightning delay, but the Badgers won 9-7.

Because it's lazy. He's

Because it's lazy. He's asking everybody else to do the work for him and then give him the results.

If anybody asks what your

If anybody asks what your costume is, just say that you are a junior high school, no class asshole.

So, you think they take

So, you think they take advantage of it... twice as much?

Anyways, I know this statement is going to annoy certain groups of people, but still: given all the obsessive focus Dantonio (and, by extension, the rest of the team) has had on Michigan ever since he got there, isn't it to be expected that Michigan State is the team that is best prepared to exploit whatever tendencies the team has?

State has had the same

State has had the same coaching staff for five years now. Michigan has been changing quarterbacks or offensive systems for four consecutive years. Guess which team can do all sorts of fancy stuff and adjust on the fly and which team has trouble doing anything it didn't explicitly spend practice time on that week.

It's not Yost, but it's about

It's not Yost, but it's about the best they could do otherwise. Guaranteeing that they get to play in the state is a pretty good situation.

I have to be honest, Brian:

I have to be honest, Brian: you're completely wrong if you think the core customer isn't the players. The athletic department knows that people will continue to donate money and buy tickets and merchandise no matter how much bitching is done on the Internet. A majority of their focus is on determing how to convince 17 year olds with very fickle tastes to come to Ann Arbor.
