is this the one where that Harbaugh guy is coaching?

The Ravens played yesterday

What's a Harbaugh?

Now you know.

You never know what may happen
January 3rd, 2011 at 7:44 PM ^
...with Harbaugh on Game Day. Even the casual observer would have to conclude he's leaving, but the venue has yet to be determined.
January 3rd, 2011 at 7:46 PM ^
He was so prepared for the first question about his future...and then she asked it again
January 3rd, 2011 at 7:52 PM ^
That's lame, considering that the OB is one of the better BCS match-ups, and will be the pinnacle of many of the players' careers on both teams. Kirk Ferentz got the same treatment by a sideline reporter at the Insight Bowl. Iowa played its heart out, and all the reporter wanted to do was ask was questions about the suspensions.
January 3rd, 2011 at 7:56 PM ^
It wasn't really that annoying, she just asked the question, he answered, and she said something along the lines of "are you sure?" at which point he couldn't hide a smile and babbled off some coach answer.

I put together a liveblog at my brand new blog that I just started today. Click on the bottom link in my sig.....all comers are welcome.

that Stanford could get pantsed? VTech looked extremely solid against FSU.
January 3rd, 2011 at 8:01 PM ^
James Madison thought they looked pretty solid too.
Never know which VT will show up, the semi-decent team or the choke masters.
January 4th, 2011 at 8:52 AM ^
never mind.
January 3rd, 2011 at 8:00 PM ^
Glad to see I am not the only one interested in watching this game.
There will be perhaps 5 fanbases watching this game, and only two of them have an interest in the teams actually playing.
January 3rd, 2011 at 8:01 PM ^
The real question is..........
If Stanford gets absolutely embarrassed in this game, do we still want Jimmy H as our Head Coach?
January 3rd, 2011 at 8:03 PM ^
mean he has secretly been hired by DB and has been busy recruiting and what not for Michigan already? Yea, I went there.
January 3rd, 2011 at 9:46 PM ^
Likely not recruiting General Studies majors.
January 3rd, 2011 at 8:04 PM ^
I can see a scenerio where stanford loses by 30-40, but the ignorant people with pitchforks will still want that Jim Hardball (yes i know)
January 3rd, 2011 at 8:09 PM ^
but I do think they lose. VaTech has the best D they will have seen all year and their O was playing much better towards the end of the season. Will be close but I think VaTech wins.
And........since this is sorta CC(hah!), what the heck does it take to get Bud Foster away from VT? The guy has been mentioned nearly every off-season as HC potential but continues to stay. Is he waiting for Beamer to retire?
January 3rd, 2011 at 8:16 PM ^
I think Stanford is way more physical than anyone VT has faced this season. Cardinal dominates unless JH spends the entire game daydreaming about roaming the sidelines of his next coaching destination.
January 3rd, 2011 at 8:09 PM ^
Can't see this happening. I think Stanford will continue to impress, and win convincingly.
January 3rd, 2011 at 8:18 PM ^
Taking your question seriously, I think it depends on how that embarrassment comes. If it looks like the team is unprepared, out of position, etc. then that would be a problem. If it looks like the players are in position, but VT just has better athletes (catching jump balls, out-running man coverage, etc.), then the argument can be made that the coaching was fine, but the caliber of athletes at Stanford wasn't good enough.
January 3rd, 2011 at 8:27 PM ^
I don't want to think about that.
January 3rd, 2011 at 8:31 PM ^
I was wondering this same thing as I was rocking my kid to sleep. What do people say if Stanford loses, say, like Michigan did on Saturday? Do Harbaugh supporters feel the need to make excuses? I would say no because one game doesn't make a coach. But it'll still be interesting to see the reaction if that's how it goes down.
January 3rd, 2011 at 8:37 PM ^
Another angle to consider is whether it dampens interest from NFL teams, which could impact Harbaugh's availability.
January 3rd, 2011 at 9:08 PM ^
Interesting, should I be rooting for Stanford to get rolled at the cost of our potential new coach's super-hype?
January 3rd, 2011 at 8:51 PM ^
Stanford actually has this thing called "defense", so they will be in it the whole game. No need to worry about what if's.
January 3rd, 2011 at 8:51 PM ^
What if Stanford is up 50-14, and JH goes for 2? ;-)
January 3rd, 2011 at 9:03 PM ^
I already have the lines worked out for all of the scenarios.
Scenario #1 Stanford wins and JH comes to AA- JH is the messiah
Scenario #2 Stanford wins and JH goes to the NFL- JH is a money and glory hound and we don't need him.
Scenario #3 Stanford loses and JH comes to AA- It was hard for the team to focus with all of the distractions surrounding CC. He is the messiah
Scenario #4 Stanford loses and JH goes to the NFL- He is a terrible coach (did you see how bad he lost to VT?) Good riddance we don't need that loser anyway.
January 3rd, 2011 at 9:03 PM ^
(which I doubt, because I think it should be close either way) does that make anyone against him more excited to get him? Just as fair to ask.
January 3rd, 2011 at 9:26 PM ^
Seems like most of the people not wanting Harbaugh think that we don't need a new coach next year, or dislike his off the field comments/actions. I don't think many people need to be sold on him being a good coach.
January 3rd, 2011 at 8:04 PM ^
Kids just as well as he does the pros.

I have always wanted football to use edible equipment, like sausage gloves and brisket helmets

What do you mean? We had some ham fisted receivers this year, some even had alligator arms at times. Pretty edible in my book..
