You think it's not a big deal if Devin plays?  It's a meaningless game.  If Devin plays then it hurts Devin's future and the future of the team.  That's why it'd be unlikely for RR to play him.  Playing Devin would be, nearly everyone agrees, a bad thing.

I'm guessing you probably don't like the "RR knowing his tenure is coming to an end", maybe?  If you're honest with yourself, you know that's accurate.  If RR plays him, he won't be making friends with AD's around the country.  Playing Devin would be vindictive.  Talking about that is not.

By the way, I support RR; I just don't think he's the right coach for Michigan.  I think he's a Michgan Man who will probably be better off somewhere else.  I hope he's immensely successful wherever he lands.

So end of the world is not a big deal.  Did I say that it would not be bad.  And you certainly assume a lot.

I'm guessing you probably don't like the "RR knowing his tenure is coming to an end", maybe?  If you're honest with yourself, you know that's accurate.

Have I said anything to that point.  I am actually ok with whatever happens in a week.  RR, JH, BH, or who ever DB chooses, I have faith that we will win again.

If RR plays him, he won't be making friends with AD's around the country.  Playing Devin would be vindictive.  Talking about that is not.

I guess you're right talking about it is not that bad.  Let's talk about that, I think RR sits at home with Ms. Rita and says how can I screw these kids over.  Is there nothing better to talk about than ways RR maybe trying to get back at us.

By the way, I support RR; I just don't think he's the right coach for Michigan.

Fair enough.  I have some doubts as well.  BTW, how do you support him.  Is it by thinking of ways he might be wanting to get back at us.

How do I support him?  By continuing to buy tickets for Michigan football.  By continuing to donate the University even though I think he's done a terrible job as the coach.  By rooting for the team every week.  What the hell else do you want?  Should I stop by his office and give him a neck rub?  C'mon man.  Give it up already.  No one said that RR is trying to screw over the kids, but ask WVU supporters if they feel RR went out like a gentleman (whether they're accurate or otherwise).  I expect that he will, but I'm sure the thought to do otherwise could come to his mind.  That's human nature.

I can't wait for this game.  It's going to be a great week.  A bowl win and a new beginning.

Give it up.  Why, you are allowed to talk about RR's possible vindictiveness, and I can't ask you how you support him.  I am happy you buy tickets, if you think that is supporting him great.  Others might think differently, but wait we are allowed to talk about it, right?

I expect that he will, but I'm sure the thought to do otherwise could come to his mind.  That's human nature.

Oh, it's human nature.  OK, so you thought about it, then it's human nature.  I didn't think about it.

No one said that RR is trying to screw over the kids, but ask WVU supporters if they feel RR went out like a gentleman (whether they're accurate or otherwise).

Wait, didn't you say this in the above post:

RR is also bright enough to know that his tenure in A2 could be coming to an end.  Does it make any difference to him if Devin plays?  Not really.  It also might be a little "fuck you" to his boss who let him twist in the wind for the last month.

If he does this, doesn't he screw Devin.  And why are you telling me to give it up.  You are allowed to say what you want, I guess that doesn't apply to others.  What has happened to you lately.  We were able to have some conversations in the past and I appreciated your views.  I never said give it up and made any assumptions on what you said.  I would just come out and ask you.

"Devin is the backup," Rodriguez said. "He's really felt better. I think he feels as good as he has in a long. Hopefully Denard will stay healthy, but if not, Devin is ready to go."

As you said, doing this would "screw" Devin.  How do you feel about RR now?  Still doing the best thing for his players?  Or just trying to do anything to win the game even if it hurts the program in the long run?

No...You play to win while doing what is best for the team in the long run.  Should the Lions play Stafford on Sunday?  No.  Because doing so could harm his recovery and thus harm the long term interests of the team.  An injured Stafford might be better than Stanton (or injured Hill), but IR is the best move for the long run.  Similarly, Devin is better than Jack, but the long term interests of the team are best served with Devin getting an extra year instead of two hand-offs against Miss St.

Here's something.  Suppose you were a Michigan player.  And you had the idea that some game, any game in which Michigan was playing another school in intercollegiate football was meaningless.  And you referred to the next game as "meaningless."  Like so:

You think it's not a big deal if Devin plays?  It's a meaningless game.  If Devin plays then it hurts Devin's future and the future of the team.

I'd hope and expect that the coach, be it Rich Rodriguez, or Jim Harbaugh, would ask you to take off your uniform, change into your street clothes, and leave the locker room.

We're playing out-of-conference Mississippi State for the championship of nothing.   It's a meaningless game (although "entertainment" might be some meaning).  I'm happy to be able to watch it and can't wait for the win, but it has no real meaning.  You, and several others, need to relax and stop acting like you're personnally insulted here.  It's a glorified exhibition game; one that isn't worth losing one year of our future QB.

By the way, if you're so mortified by my comment, you should have been enraged by RR's "at least we're fun to watch" comment.  Frankly, I'd prefer an honest assessment of a bowl game than a coach thinking "fun to watch" is good enough for our program.

Wow, man, you really don't get it.  Tell the seniors and guys that have never been to a bowl that this is a meaningless game.  They work their asses off to get to this game and they want to win.  If that doesn't mean anything to YOU, then maybe you're what's wrong with our fanbase right now.  This is college football and it's WAY  more about the student-athletes than it is about you.

BTW I hope Devin doesn't play either.

Quick...don't Google it...Who won the 2002 Gator Bowl?  Who played in it?  Yeah, I don't know either...because it's a meaningless game.

Does it matter to the kids who want to win it because they are competitors?  Yes.  Does it matter to me (and likely you), happy to sit on the couch and watch us play another game?  Sure.  Does it matter for the long term good (or bad) of the program?  No.  It's not the Rose Bowl.  It's not a rivalry game.  It's not a conference game.  It's an exhibition+.  Reality is a sweet place to live and it never turns people away.

Another reminder that, despite other needs, we could still do with a QB in this coming class. There's a pretty good chance that either Denard or Tate leave soon. It might be useful to have more than 2 QBs on the roster. (No offence to Jack Kennedy).

All will, I guess, become clear soon enough. Mercifully.

But, yeah, you keep DG off the field even if that costs the game.

i've never seen a kid get so much hate. especially one, whom according to most, "we don't really need." i hope young mr. forcier does better in the classroom going forward. he's a student first, athlete second.

Dido on RR being the unluckiest guy in the program's history.  Though this isn't the fought of RR, anything that could go wrong really has.  I actually feel sorry for him at this point.

Ineligible players don't travel to the bowl game.  And IMO, it's appropriate to send him back to Michigan not only because he screwed up, but also because what we don't need is constant Tate-street-clothes shots on TV if we need to go to the bench for a QB.

Can't make his grades?  Shouldn't be in the stadium unless he pays for a ticket.

I'm kinda siding with the earlier post that this is transfer related.  Tate can no doubt start somewhere and this is probably his plan, seeing how 2 more years of DR and DG probably moving ahead of him on the 2-deep next year, this makes sense to me.

This is the first time mentioning this anywhere- I've wondered if Tate has really grown up or changed at all, I'm a little concerned that he may actually be privately rooting against RR. If Harbaugh were brought in, I think Tate would feel he'd have a better shot at getting his job back.

I'm not saying that I believe that to be the case, but I've considered it.

Unless Denard doesnt get hurt at all, this really sucks.  Did he play any games entirely?  I feel like Gardner or Forcier came in every game.

It probably depends on the situation as to who to put in if Denard gets hurt.  If he looks to be out for a while and its early in the game, you have to go with Devin.  If its later in the game and looks to be for just a few plays, then maybe the scout team guy.

It could suck long term as well if Tate just cashed it in figuring he would transfer.  If RR gets broomed and Denard goes with him, we could just have Devin next year along with whatever recruits we get..

Hopefully Denard does great and doesnt get hurt and all this is moot.

The whole bullshit he told Angelique in the article about the education blah, blah, blah. I mean anyone defending this guy now needs to get a grip. This kid is a selfish dude.

Are we talking about the same guy that had a breakout year last Lear only to find himself supplanted by Footballs equivalent of The Flash, then instead of getting pissy about it and transferring stuck around to give his team mates a great chance if and when DR gets hurt, while ensuring the programs development by alloing us to keep DGs redshift seasons. That guy is selfish?

htownwolverine

The guy just gave an interview where he boasted about 'going to class' etc. And did you forget the whole summer incidents where he got pissy then and his tantrum after UConn?

He only stayed because Daddy told him not to transfer.

Yeah that guy.
