Taking SDSU -3. Solid offense, pretty good defense. Navy will still get their yards and points, especially in front of the assumedly very pro Navy crowd. I want to go with the under at 59, but I'm not solid on that.
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:14 PM ^
But why would a bowl in a team's home town be so lopsidedly against them?
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:20 PM ^
The Navy tends to buy an extra large allotment of tickets to the Poinsettia Bowl even if Navy isn't in the game. San Diego is the major Pacific hub on the mainland for all naval activity. That's a lot of potential sailors in port.
They also ship out the entire academy for the game. Plus Navy has a national draw as a service academy. A lot of people will go to a Navy game if it's close by just because of the novelty of the triple option mixed with the patriotic feel.
I'm not familiar enough with SDSU's draw with San Diego citizens, but I wouldn't estimate something overwhelming like it would be for a USC or Cal. Perhaps someone from SD could shed some light on the size of the SDSU fanbase?
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:33 PM ^
Also didn't know they bought tickets whether the team is there or not. It was more an educational question than anything. I wasn't sure. I thought SDS had nominal home field, which kinda swayed me against the Navy offense. It was a tough call either way. But I knew the Aztecs don't have a huge loyal following. But then, do any Cali schools really do? (I mean Stanford's not selling out, USC will..when they're really good...). It's hard to have a big fanbase in any case when you're a perennial doormat.

hey look it is our future head coach Brady Hoke.
December 23rd, 2010 at 8:35 PM ^
I'm convinced. Hire Hoke!
/s
December 23rd, 2010 at 8:24 PM ^
Hoke teaches players to hold.
December 23rd, 2010 at 8:46 PM ^
Than faking injuries?
December 23rd, 2010 at 8:27 PM ^
Go Midshipmen!!! I have 30 points riding on this game....
December 23rd, 2010 at 8:34 PM ^
Vincent Brown is good.
December 23rd, 2010 at 8:37 PM ^
Is channeling his inner Brady right now too
December 23rd, 2010 at 8:38 PM ^
One of the SDSU wide receivers is wearing #1. I wonder if Hoke carried that tradition.
December 23rd, 2010 at 8:40 PM ^
Looks like James is joining the Danielson spread is dead club. The way these guys fawn over whatever team they are covering is insulting.
December 23rd, 2010 at 8:42 PM ^
Relax buddy. It's the San Diego bowl. Grab a beer.
December 23rd, 2010 at 8:43 PM ^
Gotta love Navy games. Clock keeps rolling, game ends faster.
December 23rd, 2010 at 8:47 PM ^
That had no business being caught. Who lets the WR behind him on third and long. Great catch though.
December 23rd, 2010 at 8:47 PM ^
So before that last TD pass, that SDSU 3-3-5 was looking pretty good.
December 23rd, 2010 at 8:59 PM ^
It did look a little bit like what we've done at times this year, with the LB standing up at the line. Their other 2 LBs are WAY off the ball, however, relative to GERG's placement of Demens close to the nose.
Though I assume their front 7 looks a little different than normal, given the O they face tonight

I always like hearing fight songs in the menu of NCAA football for xbox and it is even more enjoyable to learn what school's fight song it is at a later time
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:21 PM ^
Shouldn't you know this beyond NCAA '11?
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:25 PM ^
I'm 20 and don't regularly watch navy play football. So...no?
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:29 PM ^
I mean, you do know "Navy" exists outside of a football team, right? ;-)
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:33 PM ^
They were on the Simpsons once, right?
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:39 PM ^
I'm just disappointed our school system isn't teaching about Jerry anymore...
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:30 PM ^
well it is also obvious from a civics point of view that anchors aweigh is one traditional songs of our nation's military.
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:28 PM ^
that and Anchors Aweigh was my high school fight song....go shores
December 23rd, 2010 at 11:31 PM ^
Shores as in Mona Shores?? Haha I went to Muskegon.
December 23rd, 2010 at 11:36 PM ^
December 23rd, 2010 at 8:49 PM ^
Vincent Brown is Ballin. 6 catches for 143 yards in the 1st quarter. We'll definitely see him playing on Sundays. He's on pace to have 572 receiving yards for the game!!!
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:12 PM ^
10.8 yards per carry will get the job done. Those OLmen from SDSU are sealing gaps like mad men.
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:12 PM ^
Can we make sure and include the full nauseating bowl names for all the threads during bowl season?

Oh, and TD SDS.
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:23 PM ^
I'm not surprised. I gave the points, but I knew Navy would score points. This was one of the bowl games I felt the least confident about.
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:23 PM ^
Ballsy, Navy, ballsy.
December 23rd, 2010 at 10:00 PM ^
Die by the balls.

Uhm....yeah.

Navy - Anchors_Aweigh
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:34 PM ^
I always preferred Blue and Gold, but maybe just because that was my high school's fight song (with different words obviously).
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:31 PM ^
Haha Robert Smith is soooo pissed about the OSU suspensions. I think his head is going to literally explode if he keeps going!
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:51 PM ^
honestly, if I was a buck I would be more pissed off from a tradition point of view after seeing these guys try to sell their gold pants.
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:36 PM ^
Let's go Navy, big second half coming
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:44 PM ^
Only Navy can save us a week straight of ESPN (and other boneheads) trying to insert Brady Hoke in the CC conversation.
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:53 PM ^
Just to see how many heads asplode here.
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:48 PM ^
Hypothetical here fellas. If the UM coaching job was up, who would you rather have, Harbaugh or Hoke? I have seen a lot of negativity towards Hoke on here and I just want to know whats up with that. Seems like a good guy, runs a decent program and seems to get results. IMO the cheaper of the 2 and the one less likely to bolt to the NFL.
December 23rd, 2010 at 9:51 PM ^
Shhhhh
December 23rd, 2010 at 10:05 PM ^
Why don't we do like WVU and bring in Ron English? He has experience at UM and as a HC. We could give him a year under RichRod to learn the 3-3-5 and then elevate him to HC.
December 23rd, 2010 at 11:46 PM ^
Well, no matter who's coach next year, September 24 should be intriguing. What if Hoke and SDSU beat us? They've got some O skill positions coming back including that QB and RB.
