There is nothing to salvage…

There is nothing to salvage next year. The kids are not well coached. There is no coaching defensive savant behind door #2. You find someone who can rebuild the program from near scratch because that's where we are.

I watched more of that game today than I should and it was like every other game I've watched this year. Every player looks absolutely lost on defense and they are incapable of playing as a unit. I have no idea what the coaches are practicing each week but the ineffectiveness of it is a sight to behold.

You have got to be fucking…

You have got to be fucking shitting me. Beilein is considered a racist?

I think you're going to see…

I think you're going to see a period (now) where shit gets so sideways that some sort of nationwide re-org takes place in 4-5 years and potentially without the NCAA governing body. Because it's a multi-billion dollar industry (7-8 or I think I read) and it has little to no structure and what pretense of it that exists is done so arbitrarily (see: burger-gate) or randomly as if to be a joke.

The O'bannon courts case blew the doors off the the NCAA regulatory body and they absolutely were not prepared for that....at all. It appears they've done relatively little since then either in terms of trying to implement any sort of structure to prepare for player compensation and making all the wrong moves in terms of portal structure and management before they even had a grip on NIL or any sort of basic enforcement or reporting policy.

This is the correct take

This is the correct take. The Meta game is about to swing into overdrive and is going to get insanely complex and eviscerate stability within programs. Namely his. He had his run and after talking to the players could hear the opportunities for winning in the future fizzling out like a bad fart.

If you dont need the money, who sticks around for that shit?

That is a wild amount of…

That is a wild amount of butt hurt. Why even respond to that on social media beyond 'Never happened'.

And insinuating there's more to burgergate to presumably torch the coach who mentored you into a Broyles Award winner? Bold strategy.

Never ok

Never ok

I lived in San Fran/San…

I lived in San Fran/San Diego combined for almost 45 years and can confirm, it is in fact, expensive as fuck.

At some point, you should no…

At some point, you should no longer be surprised.

Edit: It honestly doesn't even matter if the article is completely accurate or not because we have these things called outcomes. Warde's are trending down, especially on something that most people considered a slam dunk retention.

One o f the primary…

One o f the primary functions of a senior executive is to identify, hire, cultivate, and probably most importantly, retain talent.

If the information in these articles is accurate, combined with what we know about Warde's historical handling of several situations with coaches. A very strong argument can be made that Warde is simply out of his depth in this role. This is manifest by the odd and just flat out weird lack of engagement at critical moments.

He's not a particularly impressive administrator or communicator and appears to have genuine deficits in his relationships with the coaches he's responsible for. In most organizations, would his issues rise to the level of incompetence with justification for firing? Yes.

The best three years as a…

The best three years as a fan I could have ever hoped for, with the best kids, and the best culture. He brought everything to the table and ultimately resurrected the program. He also left what I believe is an acceptable succession plan in place.

Wade is going to survive…

Wade is going to survive this but his survival is going to ultimately depend on how he handles the basketball team the next year. If he manages to hose that I would assume it curtains.

Watching their bowl game, I…

Watching their bowl game, I think what shocked me more than anything was just how bad the drop off at QB was after McCord. They had a month to prepare.

I would give this post all…

I would give this post all the points if possible. We were spoiled by well coached teams that *averaged* 3-4 turnovers a game. Now they average just over 12 and it's hideous to watch. Michigan is ranked #211 in turnover rate.

Motivation and team morale aside, the team is poorly coached. Even in some of those early games where the kids still believed, you could see the signs. The turnovers, the defense optional style of play especially at the end of games. The kids weren't getting better or learning after tough losses. That is 100% coaching.

Narrator: They will not, in…

Narrator: They will not, in fact, turn it around.

Time to put Dutcher's agent on speed dial when this season ends.

Yes, I realize the optics of him replacing Howard look bad. No, I don't care.

This is my favorite so far…

This is my favorite so far. The editing is top shelf.

And I thought Keith Jackson…

And I thought Keith Jackson died...again.

It's not just a Twitter…

It's not just a Twitter problem. Avoiding that rabbit hole though. There used to be a 24 hour rule with these things, maybe it's time to resurrect that? OR much like OT topics are tagged, if you're pulling something off the Google machine, Twitter or anywhere else for that matter, it must be tagged RUMOR until said target of rumor has confirmed x,y, or z news item.

How in the hell is he not…

How in the hell is he not the #1 tailback in the draft? (According to Kiper he is #5?! LOL what?). I've watched a looooooot of other football this year and I haven't exactly seen dudes lighting it up from other squads. That kid from Texas was pretty good but he can't pro block and doesn't have Blake's vision.

I'm pretty sure I heard…

I'm pretty sure I heard Brian say on the podcast that Johnson is gone.

I'm with you on this. I love…

I'm with you on this. I love it. If they lose this year.....hooooooo boy.

I really thought with Wilson…

I really thought with Wilson and Johnson moving on he'd take another crack at it. Super disappointing.

He's probably referring to…

He's probably referring to some of those absolute 'gimmie' throws he missed. Those weren't the difference in the game though.

This is the bond we all…

This is the bond we all share. Even before Carr left, it really did feel like the program died with Bo. Michigan wandered in the dark for almost a decade and Brian sums up the frustration perfectly.

The pain. App state, Oregon, the Northwestern ice game of infinite misery, and on and on. All washed away with this incredible, amazing, spectacular team. God bless those kids. I'm just so grateful. Grateful for Brian and his blog, his staff and what they do here that NO ONE ELSE does.

Grateful for the most unique sports poster community anywhere and seeing you all rewarded for your fandom and support of the school. Wonderful. Just wonderful. All of it.

2007 Ohio State loss. Which…

2007 Ohio State loss. Which at the time was completely inexplicable to me.

Crime against humanity that…

Crime against humanity that the fight wasnt included in the highlight reel

Those pictures of Hart and…

Those pictures of Hart and Corum are just the best.

Washington is more battle…

Washington is more battle-tested? Based on what? Because they were in more close games? Holy smokes what a comment.

This is a good point. I was…

This is a good point. I was going to ask if maybe their defense was dealing with the 'Reverse Iowa Effect' whereby the offense scores so quickly and so often that the defense never rests.

Beast mode performance. The…

Beast mode performance. The sacks, the consistency, the patience, the clutchness. Just an all time performance in the Rose Bowl.

So glad I was able to witness it.

And if Michigan had lost by…

And if Michigan had lost by even one point, he would have excoriated Harbaugh and the kids and crowed about how this validated all his cheating concerns.

Fuck that guy.

Yeah...no. Refer to any…

Yeah...no. Refer to any number of threads from yesterday. OSU and PSU were missing critical components. The other squads were not.

OSU and PSU can be explained…

OSU and PSU can be explained away. Wisconsin actually outperformed imo. Iowa is the only true bed shitter. BF and the Offense had a month to practice and rolled out that turd.

Honestly, I'm really looking forward to the new teams coming in and more than likely pummeling the dog shit out of the Big West teams that have sat on their collective asses for a decade cashing checks and done nothing to improve. Lots of churn coming.

His play calling is a horror…

His play calling is a horror show.

In one drive, even if he…

In one drive, even if he never completes a pass, Iowa's backup true freshman QB is an instant upgrade over Deacon Hill. Should have started him for the second half.

Is it still offensive if the…

Is it still offensive if the people whom its supposed to offend aren't offended ?

Good points. I do not…

Good points. I do not understand how some fans are not contextualizing these games.

'OSU lost'. Well yeah they lost the guy who took 99% of snaps at QB this year, their Heisman finalist WR and they had to patchwork the OL for two starters who opted out AND missing some key personnel on D as well.

'PSU lost'. Well yeah they were missing their all world DBs and world destroyer DE. Ole Miss was off to the races from the get go because they were covering some absolute dudes with true freshman.

These games outside of the playoff give little to no indication of conference strength or weakness because of the folks sitting out. Georgia is absolutely ham blasting FSU. Any reason? At all? Any key personnel missing perhaps?

Younger generations are…

Younger generations are tougher, better, smarter, taller, and in general can kick us oldersters asses in everything but trivia about being alive when we were and they weren't, because that's basically how humans do it.

I disagree with this on the premise that male suicide in the younger demos is at an all time high. Suicide excluded deaths among young athletes age 15-24 are also at an all time high. Kids aren't tougher necessarily (subjective) but they have to put up with insane amounts of bullshit that we never had to (social media) which may be feeding into the statistics mentioned. Continual improvement is always the goal, I agree that kids today are getting better *training* than ever before hence the performance improvements. With time comes better knowledge of 'what works' as there is more data to point to.

The old school guy seems…

The old school guy seems soft compared to some of the absolute assholes I had for coaches coming up. They only redeeming quality of their coaching was I learned exactly how not to behave.

He came off as an affable…

He came off as an affable dude who helped young men develop and spun stories anyone can enjoy. The kind of dude that other dudes want to hang out with. Hence, the reverence.

Beilein really had the…

Beilein really had the blueprint for repeatable, consistent success:

  • Recruit a couple of projects, long term development types with raw potential that will more than likely stay to be seniors.
  • Recruit a few kids who are probably gone after a few years. High end 4-star types but not lottery picks.
  • Avoid the one and done types or least don't sink a ton of energy into recruiting them.
  • Don't be afraid to replace your assistants.

That took a while to cook, but it worked incredibly well over time. Would it still work in the NIL era? I think so and perhaps even better because roster management across revenue generating sports is going to become an absolute nightmare over the next few years without any regulation.

Will Juwan do something like this? No. Things have been getting progressively worse and short of having a Harbaugh like epiphany, I don't see it changing.

My brother in Christ if you…

My brother in Christ if you believe that Tressel's sins were limited to Tatoo-gate may I suggest you hop on the Google machine and do some light reading this weekend?

Tressel deserves nothing and there's a good reason he was given a show cause. What he was doing very clearly created distance between Ohio State and every other program trying to compete with them day in and day out. Everyone else in the conference (Wisconsin shoe-gate notiwthstanding) was trying to follow the rules.

Everything he achieved was a lie.

It'll be interesting to see…

It'll be interesting to see how everything shakes out over the next month or so. The top 4 will surely shed some talent as well post bowl games but yeah....11 is reeeealllly high for early December.

God bless those kids. I'm…

God bless those kids. I'm happier about this championship than any other in my lifetime. I genuinely believe there isn't another group of kids and coaching staff in the country that could have dealt with the hideous amount of social media angst, lies, and bullshit that they did.

An absolutely spectacular 'forget you' to the conference and the people who doubted them.

Michigan had the two best…

Michigan had the two best wins of the year other than Texas with wins over Penn State and Ohio State because of the context behind them. Change my mind.

Alabama is a 3 loss team without Saban on the sidelines.

Holy shit they thunder…

Holy shit they thunder fucked FSU. Wow....that is horrible.

This compelled me to look up…

This compelled me to look up the Michigan recruit class ranks since 2017.

2017 - 4

2018 - 22

2019 - 7

2020 - 10

2021 - 14

2022 - 9

2023 - 18

That is uh...sub-optimal from our end but holy hell is it a testament to the coaching staff.

This is simply Urban's…

This is simply Urban's attempt to get Sherrone a HC job somewhere else now for eleventybillion dollars and out of Michigan as soon as possible.
