OT: San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl Open Thread

What a stupid name. AKA the possible, 2nd cousin twice removed future Michigan coach bowl. Go Aztecs??

Taking SDSU -3. Solid offense, pretty good defense. Navy will still get their yards and points, especially in front of the assumedly very pro Navy crowd. I want to go with the under at 59, but I'm not solid on that.

The Navy tends to buy an extra large allotment of tickets to the Poinsettia Bowl even if Navy isn't in the game. San Diego is the major Pacific hub on the mainland for all naval activity. That's a lot of potential sailors in port.

They also ship out the entire academy for the game. Plus Navy has a national draw as a service academy. A lot of people will go to a Navy game if it's close by just because of the novelty of the triple option mixed with the patriotic feel.

I'm not familiar enough with SDSU's draw with San Diego citizens, but I wouldn't estimate something overwhelming like it would be for a USC or Cal. Perhaps someone from SD could shed some light on the size of the SDSU fanbase?

Also didn't know they bought tickets whether the team is there or not. It was more an educational question than anything. I wasn't sure. I thought SDS had nominal home field, which kinda swayed me against the Navy offense. It was a tough call either way. But I knew the Aztecs don't have a huge loyal following. But then, do any Cali schools really do? (I mean Stanford's not selling out, USC will..when they're really good...). It's hard to have a big fanbase in any case when you're a perennial doormat.

Looks like James is joining the Danielson spread is dead club. The way these guys fawn over whatever team they are covering is insulting.

It did look a little bit like what we've done at times this year, with the LB standing up at the line. Their other 2 LBs are WAY off the ball, however, relative to GERG's placement of Demens close to the nose.
Though I assume their front 7 looks a little different than normal, given the O they face tonight

Vincent Brown is Ballin. 6 catches for 143 yards in the 1st quarter. We'll definitely see him playing on Sundays. He's on pace to have 572 receiving yards for the game!!!

Can we make sure and include the full nauseating bowl names for all the threads during bowl season?
Oh, and TD SDS.

I'm not surprised. I gave the points, but I knew Navy would score points. This was one of the bowl games I felt the least confident about.

Hypothetical here fellas. If the UM coaching job was up, who would you rather have, Harbaugh or Hoke? I have seen a lot of negativity towards Hoke on here and I just want to know whats up with that. Seems like a good guy, runs a decent program and seems to get results. IMO the cheaper of the 2 and the one less likely to bolt to the NFL.
