I believe the SoftEdge Advocacy and Consulting Group would beg to differ.
They are filing a trademark infringement suit as we speak. Better get yourself a good lawyer... oh wait...

No worries. I checked with the US Patent & Trademark Office and found that "SoftEdge" trademarked their brand only with respect to Capitol Hill. The USP&TO expressly refused to extend the patent to use by me on MGoBlog. (I had a special interest variance granted.)

about people complaining.
December 19th, 2010 at 11:52 AM ^
A couple grievances:
1. Anyone who uses the words THE spread offense together.
2. Anyone who continues to argue that THE spread simply doesn't work in the Big 10.
3. Anyone who is serious while using the term Michigan Man annoys the crap out of me.
4. Fat people.

I have talked to fat people and they have decided to eat you.

My grievance is with the woman that was driving down Belvedere hill this afternoon while I was out for a walk with my toddler son. Didn't you see that f-ing stop sign, lady? If I hadn't been holding my son's hand to help him cross the street, I would have ignited my Dilithium, run your fat a-- down and kicked off your f-ing side-view mirror just for fun. I hope I see you again . . .

An awful lot of it on the board, from a group thats supposed to represent a higher level fanbase(IQ) and represent or claim to represent a school that embraces diversity, not just of ethnicity but diversity of thought.
Surprising that the same group of people whom, I'd assume, would laugh and openly disrespect those snake handling, faith healing evangelicals for their single minded blind faith in anything. Whether that anything is a spaghetti monster of a football program, questioning the status quo is NOT a sign of weakness. Actually blind faith is.
Someone can say "a spread offense wont work in the big ten" and that person has JUST as much of a foundation to stand on as the opposing side. To begin cherry picking for example that say it will or will not work is just that, cherry picking. If there was a clear cut answer for that question, people wouldnt even argue about it.(intelligent people that is). The very conversation is healthy because it indeed IS debatable and worthwhile discussing. If you merely want a choir to echo back what you believe than give a litmus test before allowing membership. Otherwise enjoy the debate and maybe, who knows, learn something. Of course you have to open your mind to do that.
Grevience aired.
Carry on.

The problem with the argument that the spread will not work in the Big Ten is that it simply does not hold water. Michigan had the #1 offense in the league this year. Northwestern has run the spread successfully for years. Penn State runs Spread HD. Even OSU, the bastion of offensive stodginess, utilizes spread formations depending on the game situation. Nebraska would be a good team to pay attention to when they join the Big Ten next year, since they run the spread and have a stout defense.
I haven't seen a whole lot of follow-the-leader style thinking on MGoBoard as of late. It's true that the point system encourages expressing more common opinions to avoid negging, but on the other hand it also provides a handy guide as to the relative experience and stature of the poster in question, as well as making identifying trolls easier. I'd be interested to hear other topics you feel MGoBoard stifles debate, but I respectfully disagree with the points in your post.

Because you like to live(obviously) in Kool aid land where you can take bits of pictures from all over the place and make them into a beautiful mozaic in your mind. Nothing wrong with that. But when others take some bits and pieces and their mozaic looks like vomit, Telling them that they're just wrong is not very fair.
What team has won the big ten title running a "pure" spread?? I mean a 3rd and goal from the 1/2 yd line and we're lining up our QB 7yds deep NO MATTER WHAT.
What team has won the big ten title with an undersized (under 200lb) tailback?
What "slot ninja" has been a part of a teams big ten title?
Sure, every team does and SHOULD have spread elements blended into their offense, it just makes sense to be ABLE to do different things to confuse a defense, but PURE spread? NO I formation, EVER?? NO 2 TE formation EVER. Name the team that has a big ten title with that SPECIFIC criteria met?? Juice Williams and Illinois under Zook was IMHO the closest thing to mirroring what we are running now. They had some moments but surely fell short of the bar that would indicate that a "PURE" spread is a no brainer in the big ten. Dont get me wrong, I dont pretend to espouse that a pure spread offense will NEVER work in the big ten, just that it is not a "no brainer" that it will. Speculation from BOTH sides of that arguement are EQUALLY viable.
As far as other topics, heres a few I've seen in the post couple months
-Attrition at never before seen or imagined levels has NOTHING to do with the coach.
-Turnovers and mistakes can ONLY be attributed to youth and NEVER to coaching
-Lack of a defense and special teams CANNOT be blamed on coaching and is ONLY a product of circumstances beyond the coaches control
There's more where those came from.

"This really grinds my gears" (Peter Griffin):
Geno Auriemma critical of attention
How much success will it take for this guy to stop complaining? He wins 88 in row and complains about too much attention? Or the wrong kind of respect beause he coaches women? Coach men then.
I'm not a WOMENS HOOPS fan, BUT GIVE ME A BREAK...enjoy life!

I'm way more of a football fan than a football connoisseur.
My grievance is with people failing to start threads in which I can make a meaningful contribution. Do you know how hard it is to get this many MGoPoints when you're constantly waiting around for someone to make a comment about the University's general fund budget so you can pounce on it?
I need more topics on things like:
- Abba Song lyrics
- Lesser-known Liberal Arts Colleges in the Mid-Atlantic
- Things You Can Make with PipeCleaners
- Scrabble
