Unofficial what names lost out to Leaders/Legends thread?
As if the logo and the unbelievably bad ridiculous names for the future trophies weren't enough, the Big 10 offices chose "Legends" and "Leaders" as names for our divisions in football. What I want to know is, what names could they have discussed which later were deemed to be worse than Leaders and Legends? It is seriously difficult to think of names that could be worse, but I'll take a stab at some that I am glad they did not chose, please feel free to add....
Zambonies/Slot Ninjas (we'd need a division of our own)

I, for one, would be much happier with "herp and derp" than leaders and legends.

Laverne and Shirley? Probably lost out 'cause in the end they sold out and moved to Cali.
(And not sure whose idea it was, but I thought "Lakes" and "Plains" was the best suggestion I heard)

Believe me (or not), but I heard it first from that spikey-haired, square jawed, ex-Bachelor, Mark Philippoussis wannabe, Jesse Palmer.
I didn't mind the name myself. Though I think most schools are in states with a mix of Great Lakes shoreline and flat terrain.

Lakes and Plains were a great suggestion. However it wouldn't feel right with Michigan and MSU (the Great Lakes State Schools) in the Plains division with Nebraska and Iowa. Especially with Northwestern in the same division, which is literally right on the Great Lakes.

I am glad they did not chose. I'm also glad they didn't go for Tops and Bottoms.

Or if you heard on PTI, something along the lines of "teams that lose to the SEC" and "teams that will lose to the SEC" that's where I heard it first at least.

it does not apply to Michigan at all.

I was in Kentucky and reading a University of Kentucky blog and they were coming up with names for the Big Ten. Some of them were so bad they didn't even make any sense.
"well if we’re being honest….

"The Division with all the M and N Teams plus Iowa" and the "Everything Else" Division
Not long ago the "Power Division" and the "Glory Division" were suggested... I would've much rather have the Conference choose these two than 'Legends' and 'Leaders'.
That being said, I'm glad we got to be in the Legends Division, the 'Leaders' is just plain retarded...

Especially if the Leaders division also ends up being historically the better division.
Then, Michigan would be linked to the Leaders and Best division.
That would be really "retarded."

I found out who picked the names, and unfortunately, he's one of us. He did have the closest (I can't say best) guess...
I personally would really like to see a Leadership Division and a Scholarship Division.
Talk about branding!
Every time these divisions are spoken, it would remind the players, coaches and fans that the Big Ten stands for the highest ideals of college education and personal growth.
It would be a statement that the Big Ten wants all its students to reach their greatest potential as members of our society.
On the margin, these names would even help recruiting, imho.
