Kevin Grady charged with second-offense drunken driving
I should give him my phone number. I would be happy to come pick him up, so he would not have to drive.

If he's not smart enough to call a cab, I wouldn't expect him to call you.
November 29th, 2010 at 3:19 PM ^
I think that may be enough for him to think about giving me a call, so he can avoid going to jail yet again.
November 29th, 2010 at 3:27 PM ^
I think that might do it! While your at it I will take a nacho bell grande with two double decker taco supremes please.

The first arrest led Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez to suspend Grady, who was considered a top-tier national recruit coming out of East Grand Rapids, for a week. He has since completed his eligibility
Why even say this? Its like the put RRods name in the story just so when someone googles "Rich Rodriguez" they'll find the article.
November 29th, 2010 at 3:20 PM ^
While I get the media is "evil." There is no reason to throw your hands up in the air anytime Rodirguez's name is brought up.
It pretains to the article, is a small small section and isn't positive or negative towards rodriguez. I see no reason to get even a touch upset about it.
November 29th, 2010 at 5:31 PM ^
it is inaccurate.
This comment in the article, although brief, makes it sound like his first offense occurred during the season when it actually happened during the summer. Grady was then immediately suspended and was not allowed to participate with the team for most of, if not all of, Fall practice. By the time he satisfied his conditions to return to the team, he was buried on the depth chart. He only sat out one game because of his actions, but it can be argued that he never fully recovered from not being able to practice with the team in the Fall.
Intentional or not, the reader is lead to make comparisons with disciplinary measures at other schools. If you are going to bring it up, at least get it right. He missed one game, but the suspension was for more than one week (and not because he was sitting in a jail cell).

just plain dumb.
November 29th, 2010 at 3:19 PM ^
contain so many details from his first arrest 3 years ago, yet almost nothing from the current arrest, which was the whole point of the article.
November 29th, 2010 at 3:37 PM ^
2nd paragraph, ”Details of Friday's arrest were not immediately available.”
November 29th, 2010 at 3:52 PM ^
That is classic. A big headline and a statement that information about the headline is not available. I wish I was a writer for a newspaper. I would do all kinds of stupid sh-t like this. Here's an example:
UNCONTAINED WILDFIRE STARTED BY RODRIGUEZ HEADING TOWARDS ANN ARBOR
Rich Rodriguez was scolded by police officers in 1974 when he and some hooligan friends decided to make a torch out of a stick and rag soaked in gasoline and run around their cul-de-sac screaming. His parents were disgusted by his actions and grounded him for two weeks - no television and no radio.
Rodriguez again endangered public health by burning leaves in his yard without first digging a containment boundary and notifying the fire department in advance. Though neither of these are requirements in the county where Rodriguez resides, the breeze blew at least one cinder in the direction of Ann Arbor.

Google "wildfire rodriguez ann arbor" and see what #4 is.
Which gives you an idea of how quickly Google indexes MGB.
And also shows that Google doesn't understand humor or sarcasm, so it's sort of douchey to put this sort of thing in print....
November 29th, 2010 at 4:28 PM ^
Jesus! Who knew!?
I would have stopped short of calling my actions "douchey" in responding to my post but the point is well-taken. I had no idea that this sort of silly post would end up on a google search! Maybe I'm just naiive but I never would have expected it.

I live about 250 yards from Monte's and had visited a few local pubs myself that night. (But walked home).
I don't care who you are, you just can't do this. If you're going to get stupid, you have to know how you're getting home. Dammit Kevin.

lol he's driving but he can't even say the alphabet.. ive been pretty shitfaced before, but it isn't fuckin hard to recite the alphabet if im able to operate a car jesus..
Too bad, my cousin told me on thanksgiving he saw him working out on weds at EGR high.. Too bad for this kid. He really dropped the ball on life
November 29th, 2010 at 4:27 PM ^
You might think you can say the alphabet perfectly after a handful of drinks. However, the people you are with may tell you differently.
Likewise, it's also easy to convince yourself that you are OK to drive when you certainly are not.
His mistake is the decisions he made before drinking, not after.

Opening statement ... "Well, it's always good to have signing day come and go, and especially so when you think you recruited well and I think we have done that. I think our coaches did a tremendous job. Our players, I always appreciate their efforts because I think when it's all said and done, they have a great deal to do with whether you're successful or whether you are left with disappointment.
"The faculty and the staff here, all the people that help out make it truly a team effort. Hopefully we have again recruited the type of kids that will maintain the great pride that we have in Michigan football.
About the recruitment of Kevin Grady ... "Kevin Grady, of course, has an uncle named Gene Grady that I've known a long, long time. And so we did have some early introduction to Kevin, I think even when he was a ninth grader. I think the most impressive thing about him is that East Grand Rapids for those of you who have been there is one of the most impressive high schools I've been in across the country. They do a great job academically. And when you look at what they do athletically, after talking with the principal there, his son, BJ, played here at Michigan. They have a young coached named Peter Stuursma who has done a great job.
"But everybody in that community had great things to say about Kevin Grady on and off the field. Of course, he had the opportunity to be the first Michigan football player to go to a Bowl game who did not practice with the team because of the NCAA rules during the season, Kevin was allowed to go to Pasadena with us and he practiced. He probably got five or six practices in out there, and in a short time, I think everybody was impressed with his ability and the things that you look for in a back. He's got a chance I think to really be quite a football player."

....for Kevin's sake that this isn't a public release of a bigger problem. Hopefully this isn't the beginning of a sad story, like Cissoko.

Grady is a good kid; I hope he gets things straightened out.

... when I talked to KG during his medical redshirt year. He was at Crisler watching the other KG.
Me: Kev, can't wait 'til you're back next year.
Kevin Grady: Thank man, I appreciate that.
Hell of a good guy.
