thoughts on the first half
Very very very sloppy play. Our secondary coverage is terrible, I don't know who teaches tackling fundamentals for us but they need to get their shit together. I havent seen tackling this bad in a while. Oh and can you put in Fitz, I am sick of Shaw hopping around like he's on dancing with the stars. Oh yeah and we need to just cut the field goal kickers and go for it on fourth down from now on. Sorry but I just need to vent. I know it's not this bad but geez come on fellas. At least Denard is playing ok.

Sloppy? That's definitely putting it nicely. Martin, Roh, and Mouton are the only ones trying out there.

Close game because of UM errors and solid offensive execution by the opposition.UM is going to have force the play with their better athletes.
September 18th, 2010 at 1:23 PM ^
sorry, Stonum is playing good to. Thank god.

Nice TD run an a BIG one!
September 18th, 2010 at 1:53 PM ^
should have caught the touchdown pass with UMASS safety on his back.
September 18th, 2010 at 1:26 PM ^
Our defense is going to have to find answers to the power running and play action. They'll see it up the backside every week in the big ten. But the guys running it will be bigger, faster and more talented.
September 18th, 2010 at 1:27 PM ^
perhaps put more than three D lineman down

Really? You came out to say, "I told you so," during the UMass game? It's half-time. Wait for the adjustments/end of game.
September 18th, 2010 at 1:29 PM ^
There's Junior!!!!!!!
September 18th, 2010 at 1:31 PM ^
Thank you Stonum!!!!!!

Keep it up 22!

Two man Heisman race!!11

We knew the D was a work in progress. However, is the offense playing well? Don't know that my heart can take the lack of consistency. Not being able to push UMass around, but scoring 2 TDs in the last 1:20 (with the luck of a TO).
September 18th, 2010 at 1:49 PM ^
I'd say they just played "ok" until those last two drives. MASS controlled the ball so long though it was hard to say. Our RBs still look inept often getting tackled at the mesh point.
September 18th, 2010 at 1:35 PM ^
mouton has been missing tackles all day. the front three, besides one drive, hasnt gotten pressure. The o-line isnt pushing the defense off the line for the RB's to get something. Pretty sloppy. Hopefully GERG gets the defense going and gets more pressure and the o-line starts playing more physical.
September 18th, 2010 at 1:37 PM ^
They need to put down a fourth lineman. The 3-3-5 doesnt work when your linebackers are tackling like Stevie Wonder.
September 18th, 2010 at 1:36 PM ^
I think Dantonio is interviewing the UMASS DC right now!
September 18th, 2010 at 1:37 PM ^
anyone got stats on drob?
September 18th, 2010 at 1:39 PM ^
are the last thing on my mind right now. Want the TEAM to win the game.
September 18th, 2010 at 1:43 PM ^
Could you not go to Espn and check the box score for DROB's stats?
September 18th, 2010 at 1:37 PM ^
on defense is horrible. Floyd missed bad on the 2nd Umass TD. Secondary needs to step the fuck up
September 18th, 2010 at 1:38 PM ^
lots of missed holding calls
September 18th, 2010 at 1:39 PM ^
i'd rather the other team find holes in the secondary because we sent more then 3 on everyplay... at least they would have an excuse... this 3-3-5 isn't working out.... send more pressure
September 18th, 2010 at 1:39 PM ^
The run defense has been unbelievably inept. The line is getting no push, and the OLBs are not sealing off the outside. I thought the run defense would be improved this year, but they're making UMass look like Wisconsin.
The pass defense hasn't been quite as bad, but they're playing too soft.
Offense has been ok, but we're still getting nothing out of the running backs.
Gallon has now muffed 2 punts.

Martin was ok. Everyone else on defense played what I hope will be his worst game of the season. I can understand the players being flat after the last two games, and using a vanilla scheme, but the execution will have to get much better if we want to hold any of our conference opponents under 30 points. Today we learned that our defense can play a miserable game without giving up a play over 20 yards: Mass' longest play went for just 19.
As hideous as this game was, maybe it will just end up like Iowa's awful game last year against Northern Iowa--an aberration in an otherwise good season.

I broke several things in my house and yelled some very awful things at the tv and Rich Rodriguez. Those are my thoughts on the first half.

I got blocked from the blog and my only comment was "getting into the jack daniels." apparently that was a no no.
September 18th, 2010 at 1:48 PM ^
JORDAN FUCKIN KOVACS........ I love that kid!!!!!!!!
September 18th, 2010 at 1:48 PM ^
Michigan played well every time I left the room. Left room because I didn't want to break my TV. So, I am not going to watch the 2nd half. That is my gift to the Wolverine community.
September 18th, 2010 at 2:13 PM ^
This happens to me, too. When I leave the room, they score. When I leave the house, they win. I wonder would happen if I left the state.
September 18th, 2010 at 1:50 PM ^
what kind of halftime adjustments are made. If not major changes, well lets just say it will be bad!
September 18th, 2010 at 1:50 PM ^
Can we take a walk on soccer player off Michigans girls soccer team like they did in unecessary roughness????
September 18th, 2010 at 1:51 PM ^
I thought this would be a stress free Saturday. Silly me.
September 18th, 2010 at 2:11 PM ^
There is no such thing as a stress free Saturday in Sept, Oct, Nov and God willing, Dec/Jan. Not going to happen.
September 18th, 2010 at 1:53 PM ^
The 3-3-5 stack is not working against this power running / play action game. Going into Big Ten play we're going to need to adjust big time if we hope to be able to stop the running game of MSU, Iowa, and Wiscy going forward. Gerg has been out coached, the special teams has been as bad as they could possibly be. The only players that have showed up for the game so far is Jordan Kovacs, Mike Martin, Roundtree, Denard, Hemmingway, Stonum, and Omameh.
September 18th, 2010 at 1:54 PM ^
we have a couple of weeks to get ready for the B10 season. It'll be real interesting how we do in the 2nd half.
September 18th, 2010 at 1:56 PM ^
Let's turn this thing around! GO BLUE!
September 18th, 2010 at 2:00 PM ^
Thank god we have an offense that can bail us out when our defense decides that they don't want to play.
September 18th, 2010 at 2:02 PM ^
As I'm screaming at the television to take Shaw out, he decides to break one. Thank you, Patrick Omameh.
September 18th, 2010 at 2:05 PM ^
Get JT Floyd off the field please, he's playing horrible...thank you
September 18th, 2010 at 2:09 PM ^
this game is a lot like the EMU game from last year was dead on. I just hope this one has the same result. There really is no excuse for how poorly they have played today and with Bowling Green coming in next week all of sudden that game might seem close too. I think though it could of just been bad half for Michigan and I can see them pulling away in the 2nd half. Need to keep putting up points and playing solid D. Although I don't really know what's been the worst part so far? Kicking or our secondary?
