thoughts on the first half

Very very very sloppy play. Our secondary coverage is terrible, I don't know who teaches tackling fundamentals for us but they need to get their shit together. I havent seen tackling this bad in a while. Oh and can you put in Fitz, I am sick of Shaw hopping around like he's on dancing with the stars. Oh yeah and we need to just cut the field goal kickers and go for it on fourth down from now on. Sorry but I just need to vent. I know it's not this bad but geez come on fellas. At least Denard is playing ok.

Our defense is going to have to find answers to the power running and play action. They'll see it up the backside every week in the big ten. But the guys running it will be bigger, faster and more talented.

but UMass is exposing our defensive issues pretty clearly. This is exactly why I still think we're going 6-6, and 5-7 is just as likely as 7-5.

We knew the D was a work in progress.  However, is the offense playing well?  Don't know that my heart can take the lack of consistency.  Not being able to push UMass around, but scoring 2 TDs in the last 1:20 (with the luck of a TO).

mouton has been missing tackles all day. the front three, besides one drive, hasnt gotten pressure. The o-line isnt pushing the defense off the line for the RB's to get something. Pretty sloppy. Hopefully GERG gets the defense going and gets more pressure and the o-line starts playing more physical.

i'd rather the other team find holes in the secondary because we sent more then 3 on everyplay... at least they would have an excuse... this 3-3-5 isn't working out.... send more pressure

The run defense has been unbelievably inept. The line is getting no push, and the OLBs are not sealing off the outside. I thought the run defense would be improved this year, but they're making UMass look like Wisconsin.

The pass defense hasn't been quite as bad, but they're playing too soft.

Offense has been ok, but we're still getting nothing out of the running backs.

Gallon has now muffed 2 punts.

Martin was ok. Everyone else on defense played what I hope will be his worst game of the season. I can understand the players being flat after the last two games, and using a vanilla scheme, but the execution will have to get much better if we want to hold any of our conference opponents under 30 points.  Today we learned that our defense can play a miserable game without giving up a play over 20 yards: Mass' longest play went for just 19.

As hideous as this game was, maybe it will just end up like Iowa's awful game last year against Northern Iowa--an aberration in an otherwise good season.

Michigan played well every time I left the room. Left room because I didn't want to break my TV. So, I am not going to watch the 2nd half. That is my gift to the Wolverine community.

The 3-3-5 stack is not working against this power running / play action game.  Going into Big Ten play we're going to need to adjust big time if we hope to be able to stop the running game of MSU, Iowa, and Wiscy going forward.  Gerg has been out coached, the special teams has been as bad as they could possibly be.  The only players that have showed up for the game so far is Jordan Kovacs, Mike Martin, Roundtree, Denard, Hemmingway, Stonum, and Omameh.

this game is a lot like the EMU game from last year was dead on. I just hope this one has the same result. There really is no excuse for how poorly they have played today and with Bowling Green coming in next week all of sudden that game might seem close too. I think though it could of just been bad half for Michigan and I can see them pulling away in the 2nd half. Need to keep putting up points and playing solid D. Although I don't really know what's been the worst part so far? Kicking or our secondary?
