2019 RB Zach Charbonnet
We seem to be trending well with this 4* Calif. running back. He shows power, vision, agility and pretty good long speed. A lot to like.
He's underrated. Reminds me of Perry. Jim obviously loves his physicality - kid looks for contact.
First comment already saying a recruit is underrated. Mgoblog gonna mgoblog.
Lol literally every one of your posts in the first page of your post history is either shitting on Michigan football or MGoBlog, yet you've been around since 2009 so I doubt you're just some Sparty fan in disguise. Must be a very sad way of life to just go around pouring water on anyone with the unmitigated gall to share a lick of optimism.
(in before "actually I'm just super realistic with my expectations and that makes for an optimal fan experience", give me a break)
I just ignore Kurpit by now. Just a miserable ass.
Sooooo .... Kurpit gonna Kurpit?
Maybe people should stop leaning into all the stupid tropes they've created here by being total homers. I'm sure people said Rashan Gary was underrated too.
/iamverysmart
Considering Gary was the highest rated college football recruit since Clowney, I'd say people here considered him appropriately rated.
I do enjoy, though, that you're actually trying to justify trolling around MGoBlog as a self-appointed optimism police.
The joke was that Gary could not have been underrated because he was the top recruit in the nation.
Fuck yeah I'm a homer. I'll throw shade now and then, but I'm not compelled to do it in order to prove I'm a better fan.
Rashan Gary is very, very, very good.
...but so far he hasn't been even the best college DL from his HS class. He was rated as the #1 overall prospect.
That means - based on his HS recuiting rankings, he was overrated.
I was going to say Brandon Minor with more lateral quickness, but the Perry comp is better.
I thought of Minor when I was watching him and then looked Minor's measurables up and realized that Minor was much smaller than I remembered.
You are right. I thought he was at least 6-1 220.
I don't see that, but if he is, YES, PLEASE. Minor is a very underrated back at Michigan because of a) when he played and b) his injury issues. He had a very good combination of power and speed.
Would be ecstatic to have this guy at Michigan. I guess some folks don't understand that you can make a style comparison without saying you think he'll be as good as the comparable, because Charbonnet's running style definitely reminds me of Perry.
Also love Kyren Williams, who looks A LOT like Mike Hart (Sam Webb nailed that one). He's not as fast as Charbonnet, but he is so shifty and has great balance. He will be a great college player somewhere.

Jay is becoming elite on the trail. Simple. The jackhammer work ethic is clearly genetic and it's only a matter of time before we start to see his hard work pay off with top-end national talent. "It's not about how bad you want it....it's about how hard you are willing to work for it".
The work he has put into California is incredible. Our foothold is stronger than it's been in a long time. De La Salle, Mater Dei, Coronoa, Mission and Chamande to name a few. Jay has the ability to walk into almost any school on the West Coast and be welcomed with open arms. Most people would assume that is because of his last name, but if you ask the coaches from these schools and others on the trail they will tell you, it's the first name.
I wonder if coach would consider making him the lead recruiter with CP, more in a capacity like Kerry Combs, where he's involved with all the staff top choices? I know DB and GM have a strong grip on defense, and East coast kids. However, Jay might be helpful to go to another level.. Another idea would be adding Detroit to his list of responsibilities..
Many of us believe that the Moore and Washington hires have a correlation to GM retiring. Well let me give you one more, and something I truly believe. Jay Harbaugh is the next coach at the University of Michigan.
The foothold in California is stronger than in a long time in California?
Nobody from California has committed in 2020.
Or 2019.
Or 2018.
Or 2017.
We got two Californians in 2016, and one already transferred back to UCLA. (The other is David Long.)
If that's stronger than it has been in California in a long time, then...that's not saying much.
And Crawford
Maybe I missed a crystal ball pick or something for him, but do you mind clarifying how we are trending up for him?
Because to him, it just seems we are.
Personally, i seem to be trending to the positive for Adriana Chechik.
I suspect its because of the 247 article behind paywall today. Dont know though since I dont pay for the service.
He basically said Michigan and Washington are his top two.
I approve
He should be good at avoiding contact. :)
I emaginot you're correct.
You just crossed the line with that joke
Terrible against the blitz.
This response is double great because it captures the magniot line reference and the french's ability to be immediately offended about anything
Broke thru the line?
I personally think Crouch and Emery are head and shoulders above anyone UM is recruiting at RB right now. Supposedly Emery has a top 3 of UM, UF, and LSU and with UF poised to get Trey Sanders it could come down to UM and LSU. Normally I'd say it would be hard to pull a Louisiana kid from LSU but they might not win 7 games this year. Could be a race worth running for UM so to speak.
looked as good if not better than Crouch. Hopefully LSU has a meh season.
Crouch is special. Sounds like he may want to play defense though.
Yes, he is.
Sam said Charbonnet is one of the top targets regardless of position.
USC seems to be recruiting Charbonnet. Any RB USC wants I want.
If you follow recruitng heavily, there is a very slim chance of getting Emery out of the boot and away from LSU, who is currently the leader in his recruitment. Next, crouch is another early option that is going to be heading elsewhere, his former coach was the only reason we were in that race and now he's gone. Crouch will be staying in the south either at UT or Clemson.
Send him some Michigan grown and bottled wine to entice him!
