What this thread is for: It's an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.

Things we moderate a lot:

  1. Politics. Don’t you get enough of this everywhere else?
  2. Noise/snowflakes. We ask our moderators to try really hard not to censor ideas but some ideas are so tiresome and retread and badly argued that they’re not worth keeping around. If you’re getting a substantial amount of downvotes we’ll look to see if you’re posting an unpopular opinion that you can support. If you can’t support it politely and rationally, or if you don’t acknowledge the holes in your argument, it’s noise.
  3. Useless content from other sites. Clickbait is annoying. 247, WTKA always get the benefit of the doubt.
  4. The Drew Sharp Memorial Don’t Feed the Professional Trolls Rule. Pete Finebaum has taken the place of the late Sharp. Valenti and Chatsports are the other two on the ban list. Bleacher Report is off the list but still under close observation.
  5. Bewbs and general misogyny/objectifying of women. We tried one year of this and our female readership shot up after being really low. This means it’s a good rule: however much you enjoy cutting loose with the guys, we have tens of thousands of readers it drives away.

I am going to add this here more for something to look out for in the future than what needs action right now. First of all I don't understand how Mineral King didn't get banned when many of his other accounts (Sky Panther, MichiganFan1984, It's Always Marcia etc ) got banned last fall but anyways looks like he (Ace Williams) is back to doing what he did last year and that is to create many accounts for the purpose of pushing transfer rumors and/or to make one of his accounts appear to have insider info.

In the "Joker" thread, the user named The Mad Hatter used a repugnant slur about people born with a particular birth defect.  I don't offend easily, but that slur crosses the line with me.  It's not OK in any context.  Please send that piece of garbage to a certain South American country if you have any decency.

How U-M handled App State vs how UVA handled UMBC

There are game threads so every thought that bubbles up to the surface doesn't say "App State" to anyone who comes to the site. UVA did not hire Rich Rod then replace him with Brady Hoke. Good job UVA.

Old98 banned (again?). 

The board already knows what Mai...uh Old98's going to say before he says it, which means there's really nothing to be gained from him opening his mouth in public anymore. In general I think a resident sourpuss is a good thing for a board, because their perspective catches some negative points that those of us trying to be positive overlook. But the committed contrarian eventually becomes a parody of himself, and Old98 has reached that point where everything he says will be met with a see of eye rolls, regardless of the content.

So it's time for new blood. Let's hope the next person who's dour about everything that's not a 5-star winning championships is as good at listening to others' points as this one was at making his.
