Quote from Nebraska A.D.

Submitted by Blue_42 on

"You've got Urban Meyer and Jim Harbaugh thinking, 'We better put a little more into that Nebraska game coming up.' And that's the way we want it. They're running a little bit scared right now. And they won't admit it. We'll leave that at that."

Can't wait for this game. One of my best friends is a longtime Husker fan. I brought him with me the last time they played in the big house and plan on bringing him again this year.  I'm sure he'll leave disappointed again. Go Blue!

edit: was thinking of 2011 game

Thanks for the comment, but Ohio State doesn't need defending. We'll take care of it this year.

Moos is a moron. He's given all of us perfect bulletin board material.

Ohio State 56-14 last year in Lincoln. Nebraska plays away at The Big House and away at The Horseshoe this season.

Good luck. It might be exhibit A in how athletic directors lose their jobs.

Let's review the last time UM played Scotty:

  • UM defense was only in their 2nd game under Don Brown, who says it takes a year to really learn his defense
  • UM defense was missing consensus all-american Jordan Lewis
  • Speight was only making his 2nd career start at QB
  • That UCF team had significantly more talent than the current Nebraska team
  • Michigan still wins 51 - 14

Now we're in year 3 with Brown, quite possibly the fastest defense in CFB, loads of young talent coming back on offense versus what was an absolutely putrid defense for NU last year, PLUS it's year 1 under new coaches... yeah, not at all worried about that one Mooser.

Their AD reminds me of a marketing shill (actually, they prefer to be called “Business Development”) who will say anything to close a deal, in this case, season tickets. I thought they have a ridiculous number of consecutive sellouts, which makes his claptrap even harder to fathom.

By my count Nebraska is about our 6-7th most difficult game, so if we’re supposed to be running scared from them next year we’re really screwed

I think a lot of Nebraska fans, especially older ones, believe the Devaney/Osborne glory years are bound to return, that all they've been missing is the right coach. We will see.

All the Nebraska fans I know, including my closest friend don’t believe that at all. As a matter of fact I text him this quote and his response was,

“He is an idiot, win more than 6 games then talk shit”

Who all think they will beat Michigan in the big house. All I said, I hope your team just survives our defense. But for some reason they think this is the best big game they will win this season. I think they are just basing it off of our record last year of 8-5.

This children of the corn infatuation of Michigan, I don't think there are many shaking in their boots of the thought of facing the Huskers this season.Improvement should be there but not at the earth shaking level of what they expect.

First, this is going to sound bad coming from a UM fan, but why is he concerned about us? Lately we finish no better than 3rd or 4th in our division. Next, getting kids to come to Nebraska is going to be a tough sell, the big ten could use Nebraska getting good, but seems unlikely...

What's going to be fun is watching the media and fans (especially in Nebraska) turn on Frost when he inevitably doesn't return them to multiple national titles like they had in the 90's.  People often say that Michigan fans are delusional and misremember their glory years, but Nebraska has been trying to recapture Osbourne's run for almost 20 years despite ample evidence that couldn't happen again.  Plus, this Nebraska team was garbage last year on defense and not great on offense, and they're going to be a new offensive system and don't have a lot of talent to fall back on.  It's going to be rough in Lincoln for at least a year, and that's without their AD and coach trying their damnedest to paint a big ol' target on their backs.

that he already walked back and wished he hadn't said.

For context though, he made the crack at a dinner atheletic event in Omaha, among Husker fans, so it wasn't as cocky a remark as it might appear. But I can see where it would bring sneers from Michigan and Buckeye fans, especially given the Cornhuskers on field results last year.
