Every Michigan team always seems to be great but never good enough to win the title. We just get close and then lose in heart wrenching fashion. Hockey basketball football. I think I'm just numb to it at this point

If we went back in time to 1998 and you told me we wouldn’t win another national title in hockey for more than 20 years, I would have thought you were nuts. But here we are. Michigan can never win the big one. Apparently in any sport. Frustrating as fuck.

Despite being a Michigan fan since birth, I am attending USC next year even though I got into Michigan, because USC gave more scholarship. I will always be a Wolverine at heart but perhaps this is for the best...being a Michigan fan is so dissapointing some times

Great season, and I'm amazed that Mel got the team this far in only his first year.

But, my gosh, to lose LIKE THAT, against THAT TEAM, having to listen to the ear-piercing sounds of THAT FIGHT SONG.

Fml.

This sucked infinately more than the way the bball season ended. 16 tournament appearances in the last 20 years, and ALL of them have fallen short.

Can't wait to make that stop and first get some ND revenge on Sept 1.

2-0 lead take a stupid penalty change the momentum of the game, and then played soft the whole 2nd period should not have happened

To be fair, Cecconne got himself in a spot where he could get chickenwinged and you shouldn't do that.

But diving should be reviewable and a major and game misconduct.  If I had my way anyway.

Of course, I would also give bench majors for playing the trap and eject any head coach who tried it, so I am maybe not the most reasonable person.

Wasn't even supposed to make the tournament, but this hurts way worse than the bball game.  I really thought they'd win this game, and to lose it like that...

Fuck this week in the ass all the way to hell.

Praying for the day Michigan wins a championship in a big 3 sport.

Can't believe you old mofos got 1 basketball, 2 hockey and 1 football championship in the span of 10 years

Ugh.

It blows my mind a bit that fans from the 90s got basketball in 89, two finals in 92 and 93, hockey in 96 and 98, and then football in 97-98. That's only a 9 year stretch. I've been a fan 12 years now and I've not seen one title but I have seen us get agonizingly close so many effing times

I was one of those guys.  Thank God I got to see all of that stuff first.  It makes this stuff now easier to take.

I don't know how you guys do it.  I give you all the credit in the world for sticking with it when it keeps pulling the rug out from under you.  I don't know if I could do it.

I started expecting it to keep going.  Seriously, just figured we could win at anything if we wanted to.  When it all seemed to dry up, it got depressing as hell.  Never thought we'd lose regulary to OSU in football, a couple in a row, sure.  And certainly didn't consider a world where we're looking up at Sparty - in TWO sports.  Have to correct this shit before I get too much older.

I can't believe the last time Michigan won a Championship was in 1998.

At least we know that Pearson is a hell of a coach, and things look really good for next year.

Next year. Sigh.

Big picture: especially with Lockwood hurt, this was a team with a top line and two third lines.  And only one defense pairing I felt like Mel really trusted.  Need an influx of talent, which is absolutely on its way.  Culture seems fixed.

Would be extremely helpful if Cooper stayed for his senior year.  And if Quinn's little brother accelerated his studies to enroll early.

Someone must win, and someone must lose. (Unless you recall the old regular season NHL rules, but I digress)

Always remember: "He who has gone, so we but cherish his memory, abides with us, more potent, nay, more present than the living man."

Pretty sure that says it all.
