Buckle Up?

Grasping at anything positive this weekend.

Matt Dudek, the director of recruiting, likes to give a wink on twitter similar to Webb's "gut feeling" except not as specific.

He just tweeted out googly eyes, thinking emoji, wink emoji, then maize M emoji. This is probably a commit. speculate

Edit from JNewmn26: His follow up tweet was pretty promising as well. Matt DudekVerified account @Thee_Matty_D

So Dudek tweeted out a pic of Voodoo Donuts in Portland, OR the other day and said he was picking up a savage. This is Oregon native Talanoa Hufanga, who is a phenomenal athlete and a perfect VIPER, IMO. Not saying Dudek's new tweets are also about Hufanga just because the last one was, but it would be a surprise commitment as his latest tweets also hint at.

I live in Corvallis, and literally nobody thinks there's any chance he goes to Oregon State. I've heard good things about the Hufanaga to Michigan potential, but there's also plenty of people pushing him to UO to keep him fairly local. Can't say I've heard a lot about USC, but never count out the allure of playing in LA.

Yeah, it would. I don't think that would be that crazy big upset. It would be big. However, he would be playing for a great Defensive coordinator and a top 5ish defense annually. Moreover, I am not sure he would find a better fit to showcase is ability than the viper spot. If you are a elite hybrid space player, how could you not at least look at Brown's defense?

We need a big weekend somehow.

I know we are going to be very good next year but a good weekend will really help us for 2019 Class and beyond.

Last year's loss IMHO hurt us 2018 class and now too late realistically to get Mo-Mo on anyone Top-50 before 2018 NSD. Really need more 6'1 200 lbs Uber ATH types and 6"6 big jumbos for the OL and DT to develop for 2020 and beyond.

But I am praying for Petit Frere and Tyler Friday.  Getting an angular DE to terrorize off the edge too would be very helpful -- Anoma.  Man would that be a huge win for the Progam in spite of the record.

But you're kind of right in a way. Yes, the recruiting services are probably right in the fact that the top 10-15 defensive ends are easily better than upshaw strictly off of rankings. But the fact is Michigan wasn't getting those guys. Let's call it like it is: if Michigan had a serious shot at elite level talent, they would not have accepted Upshaws commitment. But after that it's all scouting and ability to fill a role. After the top level elite guys, a lot of scouting services will rank based on number of offers and a smaller amount of information. Services aren't able to extensively scout EVERY prospect, that would be impossible. So who is really to say that after the top level elite talent, Upshaw isn't the best fit Michigan could do.

Maizen, why do we need to rehash this nonsense? If so, Alabama would have every title. Clemson would have none and would not even make it to the playoffs based on recruiting. Stop ignoring facts for your own agenda/unhappiness. Go away. Find another team as you definitely do not root for Michigan. You are a troll.

Yea Alabama only has what 4 national titles and played in two more CFP? And Clemson is only on the verge of going to it's 3rd staright CFP after winning the national title last year? So your point is because those teams don't win a national title every year that recruiting rankings aren't important? Weird.

That's not really saying much. This is a fan blog in case you forgot. Meanwhile back in reality, Michigan is on the verge of going 8-4 and losing to OSU for the 15th time in 17 seasons. Let me repeat, Michigan is on the verge of losing to OSU for the 15th time in 17 seasons. Their recruiting class is getting lapped by OSU and PSU. Please tell me what there is to be chipper about and I'll happily oblige.

Alabama all but gets a walk into the playoffs.
Look at Alabama's schedule and tell me how on Earth that's a top 2-3 on the strength of schedule. FSU is a disaster and won't make a bowl game ,LSU lost at home to Troy, Miss St. got blown out by 2 teams after jumping way too high in the polls because they beat a mediocre LSU squad.

Here's my prediction on the possible commit. If the commit's ranking is lower than 250 on any ranking service, Maizen will complain in the commitment thread and insult everyone who calls him/her out. If the prospect is ranked highly Maizen will not make a positive comment in that thread. He will voice a different complaint in another thread. Recruiting at another position. Something Beilein related. You know the drill.
